[Official] Toronto Blue Jays Major League Baseball thread
coastal.view replied to The Stork's topic in Off-Topic General
seems to me 20 - 18 is a bit too conservative a view for the blue jay remaining record more likely to be 23 - 15 or 24 - 14 then boston would need 25 or 26 wins and baltimore 27 or 28 i think baltimore will not get that many wins boston has been playing well though but the jays are the stronger team overall in my view -

yeah it does suck when the team scoring production has been down and the bull pen has sucked even more than normal lately but damn, they are still winning nice to feel so bleh about a team's play when they are in first place in their division can you imagine how good this team will be if everything is clicking they appear to have the best starting pitching when they are on their game they can be right near the top offensively and a bit of consistency in the bull pen and this team will steam roll teams they played so well at then end of last season with lesser starting pitching i think everyone is waiting for them to break out again this year -

well i'm a bit early as the game is not quite finished yet it seems unrealistic that the caps can make the playoffs now they seem to have a lot of problems lately competing well when the chips are down i am very interested to see what changes will be coming -

i watched many games last year the team was mostly worthy of its record they played much more like a team i am not a big believer in teams winning over time by fluke it is more likely teams can lose that way though the breakdowns on the caps team are more than fluke the goals against them are not hard luck type goals too many are goals in the weaker category which reflect poor play by the caps but it does make me wonder just how bad this year's team would be if their record was not propped up by the early season morales penalty spot goals -

though i am not on the "we need a new coach" bandwagon soccer is unique in that the coach has greater power in terms of recruitment and team building this team was largely shaped by robinson we moved from more of a european roster when robbo came aboard and started to sign more latino players this seemed to be pretty exciting at first as the team appeared to get better pretty quick but something clearly is missing now . the players may have tuned out the coach? really hard to know but it is his team and he should be required to explain why it is now performing so poorly i'd give him another season (from now, not the end of this season) to show this year was a bit of a bad blip but i am very surprised how fast and far this team has fallen in the past 1 year can someone please explain what has happened ? i already know key players have performed poorly but why ? -

i think that caps have been dealing with some strange player performances key whitecap players seem to only perform at a high level for 1 year, and not 2 or 3 consecutive years ousted being really the only exception waston, morales, and laba are having an off year and their play has hurt the team badly that is basically the team spine that is remarkably not stiff this year caps went from a tough defensive team last year to a bunch of marshmallows this year except for right back the team is largely unchanged in it's defensive make up from last year this inconsistency makes it hard for team management to plan and develop the team management was hoping to add a few pieces and tweak the existing team... .. it did not count on the core to play so poorly the upfront positions are in shambles and it is too late to get that sorted this year now i think perez should have been played more .. and played until he is spent, i never understood the plan to baby him and his playing time, he is the only front player who knows how to hold the ball and distribute it we lack his level of possession on the front line and this results in our attacks being remarkably one dimensional the notion of saving perez for later in the season and playoffs was clearly mistaken as the team will not get there now the caps appear to need a leader.. a true captain on the field who sets the standard they do not seem to have this presently not sure why that is missing and their system of play does not really seem to suit the players they have oh well, they'll likely sign a dp striker in the offseason and maybe things will go better next year -
burrows contract calls for a salary of $3 mill next year cap hit is $4.5 mill we'll see how he does next year but i still would want him back for another 2 years after that to play 4th line and move up the line up when necessary at $2.5 mill or so per year edit: remember he basically came out of no where, was undrafted, became a critical part of a very good canucks team, was the only player smart enough to play with the sedins, and has earned close to $30 million over the course of his career. you want to show a player what a very good work ethic might get you? introduce him to burrows. no one in canuck history has done more with such low expectations than burrows has
-
you underrate burrows he is paid based on his production others were not able to produce and read the sedins' game like he was he fit the role so well for so long that is reality your perspective is completely hypothetical

THIS

just saw torts interview "I don't know" was his first statement the rest of what he said is just blah blah blah he is the coach and he does not know
-
i decided to post under this topic since it seemed the most appropriate one i have considered the canucks to be a professional organization their performance in 2014 is challanging this view where is the accountability Aquaman? the time for patience is now done this is an bloody embarrasment heads need to roll no professional or executive could get away with this putrid showing this goes well beyond the players on the ice they are playing, . and have played extremely well in the past they are being mismanaged and improperly utilized this year the time to act is now or the team will lose it's fanbase standing pat is giving up ..and at this point it is unprofessional and a snub to the fans

[GDT] CANADA VS SWEDEN GOLD MEDAL GAME
coastal.view replied to goalie13's topic in Off-Topic General
or luongo he could just replace an injured price with 5 minutes left and canada up by a goal sweden pulls its goalie luongo clears puck down the ice into an empty net sweden then scores a goal with goalie again pulled canada wins luongo`s goal stands up as the winner hurray -
makaveli 96 great video . really enjoyed it
-
kudos canuck nation it is clear people are really into this game 2nd period not yet done and 24 pages of posts already took me the entire period so far to read through it all Kesler fights Hansen scores from centre Torts looses it Booth on a breakaway Higs finishes a load of work from bday boy Santa great game
-
then please provide the name of an available goalie who is better then Lu so we can get an upgrade he appears to be in line to be the starting goalie for team canada in the upcoming olympics he is no slouch, but rather a very capable goalie
-
i agree that Lu could have won the game tonight -- but only with a shutout of the last 6 games, i think Lu played 5, except for the clb game, Lu could only have won any of the other previous 4 games ih which he played -- with a shutout in ach of those games (so if he won those games and tonight he would have 5 more shutouts, plus the 2 he already has, for a total of 7 shutouts at this point) it is completely unrealistic to expect of Lu, or any other number 1 goalie in the nhl, to regularly have to win games by posting shut outs the canuck's biggest problem is not their goaltending
-
the back and forth on here tonight is some what childish is seems to me that the only way we were going to win tonight is if Lu stole the game he was unable to do that he had a great game and was the 2nd star the offence showed very little ability to finish and only could score with a 5 -3 man advantage and yes, we lost the game
