  1. daily lglobal coronavirus rates/numbers are still increasing the daily death count will also again rise you might want to try monitoring these stats rather then just making stuff up https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries
  2. there are lots of rumours and speculation cba is likely to be extended.. 4 or 5 years so it then is likely that a basically frozen cap will be decided on for the duration of the extension i can see the cap going up a bit this year just to give teams a bit of wiggle room to adjust past decisions and planning escrow can be the mechanism to ensure that the revenue split (50/50) is realized over the course of the cba extension the nhl is really trying to achieve a longish holding pattern we do not know how the virus will continue to impact things over the next 1 to 3 years it may take the entire period or longer to develop a vaccine but some level of immunity will be built up in the population over that time period and this also impacts the new nhl television contract in the usa which was seen as the largest new revenue source for the league this decade when this extension is up the league could be a bit flush with revenues and we could see salary cap increase or health concerns did not get cleaned up enough and the next cba will be based on a bleaker revenue forecast and we'll see salary cap reduction (or inflationary trends could simply devalue the dollar so cap reduction is not needed)
  3. the whole world is wrong and you are right world leaders mistakenly shut down the world not sure how you manage to get a hat on the huge head of yours ?
  4. i suspect agents for these players will get a bit more creative to protect their clients, the players, then you suggest a 1 year contract for marky makes little sense from his point of view
  5. mmmmm and what is your strategy for marky should marky endure a career ending injury during his 1 year contract (a term which only benefits the team)
  6. there is no way marky signs a contract of any length that does not give him movement restriction for the first part of the contract if the contract does not ensure that he will choose where he wants to play via ufa rather then let any team decide that for him it is a pipe dream to think otherwise so i'm saying the same thing as you in a less round about way
  7. most deals like that which were done with vegas proved to be unwise not sure the team should go down that road better to bite the bullet and lose an asset, rather then lose 2 or more
  8. you know there is an expansion draft coming up ? demko or marky will need to be exposed many posters on here doubt we will retain both goalies past that draft not sure how your post deals with that possibility
  9. frankly i'm completely stunned to hear this breaking news would never have guessed such intention from this team wonders never cease thanks for news of this astounding development in team thinking
  10. i wonder if this ongoing virus issue and fallout is the appropriate time for the league and its teams to agree to contracts tied to a percentage of the salary cap so that certainty can be ensured for long term contracts (there are raises built in if the cap increases) players like tanev and toffoli are not going to be interested in 1 or 2 year deals particularly toffoli and cap uncertainty may result in the deals not happening
  11. i remember that time this contract dispute and still have a sense that nucks thought he was a bit of a 1 year wonder and benefited so much from playing with the sedins so they really did not see much additional value that warranted a raise i do not recall feeling upset when he moved on the sedins had gone through a number of wingers at this point in time he was just another one of them and his show me i am wrong season since did not occur so how could the nucks be wrong to now cloak this in race is nonsense in my view rubbish
  12. haha well i meant on offense to you though about your views being foisted on me by someone else i thought it was a bit off for someone to do that cuz they had to play with the quoted post a bit to achieve that it is hard to do that accidentally but since that poster is newer i'm gonna just leave it to a level of inexperience on here
  13. oh i think inge makes sure wikipedia is up to date each time his canuck cheque clears
  14. what?? demanding or what ? the nucks may have won the best player in 2 recent drafts by selecting 5 or lower this is magical shrewd this makes up for a lot more then oj oj may still work out, so your disappointment in him is premature as well
  15. me too for some reason they will not hire me to a high paying executive position with their corporation so i can afford tickets to games so its all on them for me as well
  16. um really? you are putting my name on a quote when you are not quoting me ? exactly why ?
  17. well someone had to be nominated from the team and there is literally no one else (i reviewed the roster and can't find anyone else close, brock? don't think so) so he is the token nomination not sure he really qualifies .. but there it is yes he persevered through the death of his father that is clearly a sad event most of us go through that event in our lifetime and no awards are given out to anyone else for that life stage not wishing in any manner to disparage marky but i cannot find anyone else on this roster who could really qualify and i guess he is the best and only choice as a result
  18. mmmm really ? were you in nyc last? what were you doing there at that critical time? do you have an affinity for explosives and deep anti usa sentiments? just asking for a friend ??
  19. melnyk is playing an interesting game of baseball i think in his game he gets 10 strikes before he is out i'm thinking he has used 9 of them now ? but have not seriously reviewed all the previous wiffs he has made and so have not kept count
  20. jt miller he hit the ground running did not need time to let chemistry build or familiarity grow top point producer played on multiple lines and kept his production consistent added meat to the top 6 stayed healthy and played every game and took on a very important leadership role on the team was almost inappropriate in his frustration about his hatred of losing at one point (i really thought that was a good thing, youngsters need to see this, bo was less of a factor on this front this season for some reason) and it seems jake is adding some important components to his game because of jt he is not the most talented or skilled he does not have the highest upside he is currently the most developed and mature though he is the most complete player hard to choose him ahead of marky but in the end i did as marky missed games.. important ones and a bit of a forecast hughes will be next season and for a number of consecutive seasons after team will build its systems around him when he is on the ice he has the potential to drive this team more then ep40 due to his position team never had a #1 dman and now, man, we have one who could be incredibly elite and special
  21. i think in russia death by falling from a building is way way way up the past couple of months it is a bit of a pandemic situation over there on this problem
  22. no to giving away demko for nothing nucks have 20 million in cap space this off season 42 million the next off season we have enough cap room to deal with contracts particularly in light of contracts increases being very unlikely in this time of covid better to buy ericksson out then to give away talent to move his contract don't understand the urgency to move ericksson expressed by so many he is forcing team to hold cap room so we have it when ep40 and hughes need to be resigned (he is like a forced savings plan) if you move ericksson now and spend his cap space now there will be problems when our 2 elite youngsters need contracts
  23. assuming we can use the same dollars and salary cap numbers that have been in place and that escrow will make necessary adjustments to the 50/50 revenue share i'd say sign him to 2 x 5 million (or so) (prefer to see a 4 million, then 6 million payout) let him guide hughes development for at least another year so he can really get settled comfortably consider exposing tanev to expansion depending on how valuable he in fact is next season or keep him to continue to pair with hughes that combo is solid, has multiple skills, and could keep going for another 3 or 4 seasons '
  24. along the same line as your sentiments but not really directed at mls i do not understand the desire of professional leagues to wish to gravitate their re-openings to locations where covid-19 control steps have been worse then average if i was a player in a pro league i'd seek out the safest jurisdiction in which to re-open even if that impressed some additional constraints on my league and i'd prefer that and know that i get to ply my skills in an environment that has established health protocols by real professionals who have also have demonstrated they were entirely effective in their field of endeavor and the results are clearly visible for anyone who chooses to examine what they have done in their jurisdiction that they knew how to get the virus under control it often takes a pro to appreciate another pro i for one would prefer re-opening my sport in vancouver, bc to almost anywhere else in north america
  25. thanks for jumping into the middle of a discussion that has spanned more then today you clearly have no idea of the history but you think you can frame this simplistically fine job
