Biggest Positive and Negative Surprises at the Halfway Point
coastal.view replied to JamesB's topic in Canucks Talk
excellent topic JamesB but i think you reached a bit on your negatives the 4th line is not a negative at all but a solid asset i am now predicting the nucks will get 100 points this season barring some catastrophic injury to a key player of course they have made it through the worst part of their schedule they are largely healthy they are improving the last 10 games or so and likely will only get better now ep40 is damn solid, even if he appears a bit less amazing then last season, he is even better miller is... well.... damn is that a good hockey trade.. a point a game, solid all round player i called him stone-lite when we acquired him.. he is almost as good as stone.. and i really wanted stone last season hughes has been fantastic edler is outstanding tanev is durable so myers is now bumped down to third d pairing... wow does that make our back end good the team has depth all over the place and with a half season of adjustment for all the new pieces i now see a better second half consistency is an issue with young and/or greatly changed teams i see this group overcoming this lack of consistency issue -
A proposal for an exciting new idea in the NHL
coastal.view replied to BrockBoester's topic in General Hockey Discussion
don't funny face me BrockBoester you are almost a troll in many of your thread efforts and you lack imagination and originality anyone who reads a lot of your tripe knows this -
does anyone have any doubt now with the latest bombings that trump is trying to provoke a war with iran how can an impeached president do this? he is a completely loose cannon and will create any distraction from these proceedings and do whatever it might take to get himself re eleted or burn the country down in his self preservation efforts good luck merica you voted him in so you just gotta control the maniac

A proposal for an exciting new idea in the NHL
coastal.view replied to BrockBoester's topic in General Hockey Discussion
i guess that standards are slipping in 2020 already? um mods? does this thread contain substance? really? sporting substance? ?? i started this as a joke about canadian trade day due to the trades yesterday it was a comment in 1 post (that is all it is worth) this guy has picked it up and made a thread about it even i know my joke is not worthy of generalization and then being made into a topic -
well i honestly don't want to speculate about details at this point but you pretend they can do nothing yet they did something that started this last go round so i see they could do something and likely will do something again i appreciate you prefer a tribal approach in your posting i'm not into such polarization but please, do tell, why did trump end the nuclear treaty with iran and has that worked out well so far?

ok so i missed that announcement that today is canadian teams trade day so habs, sens, and flames have made moves what have the laffs, jet, oilers and nucks done i can hardly wait to see what has happened with them is the nhl rule very strict requiring that each of the canadian teams has to make a trade?

[Report] John Tortorella fined $20,000
coastal.view replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
do not hold up torts as some sort of a positive example for me he was an embarrassment as a coach to this organization please explain in detail how it was a productive positive approach for torts to try to get into the flames dressing room between periods all those years ago he is an egomaniac hot head i have little time for this man oh and don't forget he held luongo out of the winter classic game that same season explain the reason for that one too ? it's his ego -

coastal.view replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
i guess that is part of the point the noise created by torts has drowned out any league response but i think it likely the league response has not been as public and was less entertaining then torts and so was not really picked up or reported i get it sports is a break for fans from the real world and so things simply are more black and white for most the big bad league is evil and players and coaches are fighting against this (as they always do in the real world of pro wrestling) fans expect this drama and approach now it also feeds those ever present fringe conspiracy theories -

i don't agree if something happened at your work place and some one you deal with connected with your work screws up you really think it is ok to create a public scene and have a temper tantrum? i think superiors would not agree with this approach and tell you to calm down and use the proper channels to deal with your unhappiness and grievances (you might even get sanctioned for your over the top response) torts refuses to do that and prefers that the spotlight be on him instead when he feels he and his team have somehow been wronged so what does that tell you about torts ? -
i thought i was missing something so i asked you maybe we are the blind leading the blind a common ailment on cdc i presume

PREDICT THE SCORE CONTEST: Blackhawks @ Canucks January 2nd 2020
coastal.view replied to goalie13's topic in Canucks Talk
damn yeah manners and social graces who woulda thought that could happen in cyber space it is an alien concept mostly -
they have not managed all the canadian teams without interruption for the past 40 years so i do not understand what your point is? so there were good gms that managed canadian teams for collectively 25 or so years over the past 200+ available years? not sure how that addresses my point
-
ah yeah typical cdc approach we want something of value but are prepared to give up nothing of value good luck with that approach in the real world or even the nhl world we pay value for miller a really good hockey deal and half this board goes mad at first now we want something else but are prepared to offer up only crumbs and i wonder why i am so cynical about most trade proposals on this board crazy crazy crazy
-
well i think a more hard core solution is required since home team gets home team advantage if a game is still tied after the 3 on 3 overtime the game win is awarded to the visiting team if a home team cannot win with the advantages it is given, it deserves to lose and man would that piss off the home team crowd so the home team would stop at almost nothing to win a home game under these circumstances would be damn exciting
-
canadian fans are more fanatic they are more invested they can more easily speak with their wallets even you admit the pressure that can be put on in respect of coaches, cdc wanted green gone mostly i'm sure management noticed but they resisted best read of nuck fans is to read these boards and this board is tame compared to other ones so yeah.. canadian hockey fans have to be more of a pain for management but when the team does well the rewards are huge around 2011, the ticket sales revenue was massive and coupled with other revenue streams put the franchise value over 800 million it has slipped since then and not yet recovered that same valuation so yeah, fans have a big influence up here
