(Proposal) Salary Cap Adjustments.
coastal.view replied to qwijibo's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
you realize there are many tax loopholes for players i doubt any fully pay the rates being suggested bonuses skew tax rates other investments, deduction, income splitting, etc, effect them there is no simple solution as i posted before, to get the fairness being sought the nhl would have to hire accountants to review the return of each nhl player and on that basis make adjustments to the team's salary cap this is a monstrous task, fraught with privacy issues... it is not likely to happen leave things as they are and let players hire tax planners to deal with their tax liabilities -
(OFFICIAL) Leafs sign Mitch Marner
coastal.view replied to Pears's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
well no . not really loui's contract is buy out proof due to bonuses comprising such a large percentage of his contract the non bonuses part can be bought out for 2/3 of the base salary (given his age) for younger players they can be bought out for 1/3 of their remaining salary so not sure what you mean by fully guaranteed -

come on settle down please you really think a sport like this has much relevance or importance on a hockey board? why? a sport that stole a key component of street and basement hockey in my growing up (the tennis ball) and built an odd sport up around it is now worthy of mention?? next you are gonna want to celebrate gardening in canada cuz of all the tomato plants that were propped up by broken hockey sticks -

not sure if that adds a lot of credibility to this post -
have they banned cellphones, laptops, computers? anything that connects to the internet? cuz once you can get online you can get info about anything we can't trust catholics to make smart choices i guess? my biggest catholic memory is jfk doing marilyn monroe that always seemed fishy to me given his overt catholic branding

yeah .. shows a lot of effort to own the 2 absolute worst teams in the league and no other team is even close to being as bad as these 2

CANUCKS NEED HOCKEY PLAYERS TO BE A CUP TEAM
coastal.view replied to hockeygod77's topic in Canucks Talk
strange and here i thought it was more about lack of talent on the team in the recent past that has been addressed in off season acquisitions and the maturing of the young talent might not be a straight line trajectory but the plan is in place the team was pretty motivated last season i think it is fairly well coached and players are held accountable not sure what you mean by "want to play hockey" actually bloody vague and disparaging -

so then how is he seriously a comparable to brock who was runner up for the calder ??? there is a statement out there by brock's agent along the lines of they are demanding a certain aav figure, but are willing to sign for any term the nucks want the difficulty for the canucks is do they truly believe enough in brock remaining healthy to committing to long term things did not work out so well for loui and no one else has signed for more then 5 years since so i can see how brock wants as much security as he can get and the nucks wondering is it is better to sign him shorter even if it means ultimately paying him more if he truly becomes what everyone believes he is trending towards -
Which Canuck will score the SCWG this year?
coastal.view replied to BrockBoester's topic in Canucks Talk
luke schenn for tampa -
i like demko long term i like markstrom medium term i think the nucks need 2 goalies.. a 1a and 1b tandem that is where the nhl is going the 1a plays 45 games and the playoffs the 1b plays 35 or so games they should be paid fairly close salaries team cap for goalie salaries should be about 10% of the cap and the two battle out each season as to who is 1a and 1b expose the lesser goalie in the seattle expansion if a goalie is selected, be prepared to let depietro develop (or another young one in our system) and sign a vet for a cheaper short term contract an elite goalie is nice to have but not required i do not think the team should invest huge cap in 1 goalie find a good tandem and count more on the developing offense to make up any difference by outscoring other teams

coastal.view replied to Tenacious's topic in Off-Topic General
good that we were all told that the money received for alfonzo was going to be spent on operating the team and development and that mls monitors this sort of thing but there really is little need for them to do so as we can all clearly see how that money is(n't) being used -

Jeffrey Epstein, accused sex trafficker, dies by suicide
coastal.view replied to Canorth's topic in Off-Topic General
yes actually read this thread see the additional information that was already coming to light this investigation went cold/stale except for some interest from a reporter in florida until he was again arrested and charged in nyc i'm not saying that everyone would be fully pursued but making things uncomfortable for some of them for a while would have indicated progress -

coastal.view replied to Canorth's topic in Off-Topic General
let's not be naive with epstein out of the picture the investigation stalls and the rest are granted cover and nothing further is done or examined the light on this issue is now turned off the vast number of others are left alone and will not be forced to account for their behaviour -
sorry everyone most of these projections are crazy nuckleheads scored 225 goals last season so maybe first decide how much better their offensive prowess will be i think they will be better.. quite a bit .. 30 goals better... that is more then 10%, closer to 15% not gonna break it down by player but i did a quick total of solinar's projections - he says 342 goals.. that is an increase of almost 120 goals.... um.. let's get real tampa was a great offensive team and scored 325 if the nucks score 25 to 30 more goals as a team and get a little tighter defensively that'll net them an additional 7 - 10 wins and gives them a point total in the mid to high 90s that would be a huge improvement

[Rumour] Markov eyes an NHL return
coastal.view replied to Kobayashi Maru's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
he just needs 10 games with mtl to hit 1000 games played for that team i think just from a ticket sales and promotional stand point signing him to play another 10 games in montreal is a bit of a no brainer few players have hit that number for the franchise montreal has a pretty expansive history and markov hitting 1000 games just enriches it a touch -
[Official] Vancouver Whitecaps Thread
coastal.view replied to Tenacious's topic in Off-Topic General
well that is really not how the financial incentives and rewards of mls work the real money is not made on ticket sales caps need to field a team to be entitled to the other perks -money brought in by mls marketing efforts -share of mls expansion fees -transfer fee profits from developing players -increase in the value of the club the team player budget is kept low to minimize this expense with minimal regard to fans but with regard to fulfilling ownership obligations to field an mls team (barely) so these other pots of money can be continually accessed that is what this mls whitecap team is really all about -
