i think we should be considering offering him a raise as well a letter on his jersey and more money should get this done -

what boatload of cash? loui has been largely paid he's owned 9 million for the next 3 seasons replacing his spot on the roster costs a player contract, that spot is not filled for free the sweetener might not be worth the cost to move loui since the team has no cap pressure at present that requires he be moved and a sweetener spent moving gagner from the minors back to the nhl via a trade saved aquaman no money really he paid spooner after the trade.. he would have had to pay gagner without the trade and spooner was bought out, gagner could have been bought out i really see no financial advantage anywhere here for aquaman both gagner and loui's contracts were/are bad and aquaman is going to eat almost all of the financial costs of them -
PETTERSSON/BOESER SPLIT & OPTIMAL COMBO
coastal.view replied to nuckfanfromafrica's topic in Canucks Talk
a very high iq center who can both score and pass needs a quality trigger man to maximize his production ep40 and brock make sense from that perspective gretzky could play with anyone but he was best with kurri who could finish his magical passes even when gretzky scored 90+ goals kurri was not moved off his line to create a better balance of scoring for other lines the very elite play even better with other very elite -

i often post on here about fans finding it easy to spend aquaman's money but i don't agree with your assessment here sending loui down does not change how much aquaman is paying he'll need to pay him no matter what if you look at last season and gagner he was sent down and was still tradeable the spooner trade was not a disaster.. just a lateral move i doubt loui's value can fall much more then it has -
don't we all need to see how stecher plays this season before attempting to answer the questions posed in this thread ? alflives - please post your crystal ball we are gonna need some help here
-
the roster is mostly set for this season there might still be one other change of note nothing is urgent though as the team will be cap compliant when the season starts but you appear to wish to continue to make moves without adequate information we need half a season to assess sutter to see if he can rebound post injury and be effective in his role again - he then might actually have positive trade value we need half a season (or more) to assess guadette to see if he can actually develop more into a suitable beagle/sutter replacement at this stage of his young career we need at least half a season to assess joulevi to see if he can overcome his injury and other history that appears to have impeded his development (we also have other d in the system that could develop into nhl players) we a need a little more time to see what we have in hughes i really think the next pressure point for player movement will be around the tdl unless an unexpected player really shows something at training camp / preseason i think all the moves around the start of the season are fairly predictable already i get that it is summer and the cdc boards are a bit slow it generally is nice to see fresh threads but i not sure just adding noise through any additional topics does much to overcome the predictably slower summer break

i think he said if looch is on skates, and alf is on his scooter on the sidewalk . he could get away have you ever tried running on skates? i don't recommend it -
i'll bet you that Kotkaniemi could easily be had in a trade for ep40 and loui that's all you need to know about who the better player is
-
that is not correct you are assuming ep40 gets zero dollars presently he does not play for free i'm guessing petey will more then likely be paid a higher aav then you suggest
-
i am puzzled why you do not just go to capfriendly it sets out that the team will have 22.8 million to start the 2020 - 21 season that does not include brock's contract (7) nor a cap increase (2) - so let's say it's 18 million with these 2 adjustments the team will have 46 million to start the 2021 -22 season that does not include brock's contract (7) nor a further cap increase (2 + 2) - so 43 with these adjustments there is plenty of cap space not sure why so many insist the team has not done a good job managing space the other thing that has yet to occur before the start of this season is roster size reduction team can only have 23 players - it will have more if brock and goldy are signed (26) just demoting players will result in a savings of around 1 million per player or 3 million this 3 plus the 5 in current available cap space will likely be enough for the signing of both brock and goldy and if a player is waived and claimed his entire contract will disappear (which will create more cap space) roussel's contract counts for cap purposes for the 1st day of the season and is included in the above figures his contract can be put on ltir the next day that will permit immediate cap flexibility for the 1st half of the season if anything unexpected comes up if there is any significant injury that player goes on ltir and cap space is freed up to sign another player the team has done a pretty good job this off season and prior to properly structure the cap and oodles of space is being created for the next 2 off seasons

not sure why you are fixated on gardiner he will be overpaid and given too much term by any team who signs him he is not a long term asset and will turn into a bit of an anchor as i previously posted, we already signed a dman with those same risks - myers why do you want to double up on this potential problem we need to sign someone shorter term - 2 years max you do not seem to get this point, so i'll refrain from posting further in this thread
-
myers was just signed to a long term contract we do not need another older dman on an expensive long term one particularly since neither myers or gardiner can be considered elite hutton is still out there and could be signed cheap and short term if depth is required let's not block any up and coming dmen hopefully both joulevi and woo need roster space over the next 2 seasons we also have quite a few young dmen in the system likely one or 2 others could break through

i have said none of those things that i have bolded so not sure why you have the need to post those comments to me i think you prefer to just not answer the issues i put clearly in my posts so i can only conclude you have no answers but prefer to simply support loui for reasons other then his value to this team you have nothing meaningful to post in response to my posts so i will not continue this discussion the only thing you admit is that you have seen only some games loui played yet feel that is enough for you spend a lot of time putting other posters down -

so you cannot describe with any detail value loui has provided to the team you ignore that he has spent time on every important line for quality time periods in each season since he has joined the team you prefer to post and focus on excuses for loui who in your view bears almost no responsibility for providing value for his pay it's not his fault it's the fault of someone else ? green is not he only canuck coach loui has played under he has not played well for any coach -

i think you are misreading many of the posts so let's make it a bit simpler here is a clear fact for you to consider once loui got his bonus on july 15 he has been fully paid 27 million (or 9 million for each of the 3 seasons he has played for the team) it is very hard to argue that he has given back anything close to value for that money a contract is an agreement between 2 parties canucks have paid loui as required (they have honoured their part of the contract) the question or frustration you read about loui on here is that many feel loui has not honoured his part of the contract he has not provided expected value for the payments he has received so it might be helpful to hear you describe what value loui has in fact provided to fulfill and honour his part of the contract he signed -

well that is what he gets for having a poor agent everyone scoffs at the nmc but without one a player can so easily be sent down north to the coilers
