  1. i just did a quick look at this year compared to last year goals for and against last year the combined total was around 420 (180 for 240 against) this year we are in track to approach 500 - 110 for 140 against.. . double that . and so there is about an extra goal a game . and extra 1/2 for and a 1/2 against it is a more open system of play more offensive pressure.. a riskier overall style of play that exposes the d more and requires better d if they are average .. as our lot mostly is.. they appear to be worse then they really are . since this system exposes them more but that extra goal scoring is more entertaining and when you do not have great talent you better entertain if you want to sell tickets the number of break downs and odd man rushes against montreal early in the game was awful hockey almost seemed like it was a system of play that was not coached but it was exciting and frustrating at the same time
  2. another high end shot producing that goal but that pass from vanek.. very very sweet
  3. there were a significant number of posters who expressed unhappiness with prospect of evander being signed to vancouver all talk of him has quieted down and so has the posting as a result the canuck team has fared poorly hiring outlier type of personality/characters.. keenan, torts i really cannot see them taking on the risk of e. kane but we'll see how that unfolds next summer there will be significant backlash if that does occur though
  4. in rural saskatchewan maybe edit: damn i only saw the fine print after submitting my post...

  8. i'm getting pretty sick and tired of the pop up that repeatedly keeps appearing on this site "will you allow forum.canucks.com to send notifications?" can i please just say NO one time per session when i sign in ? and not repeatedly every time i refresh a page or open a new topic in another browser it feels a bit harassing to me can i disable this prompt maybe ?
  9. exactly . took hansen a number of years to blossom . but was always a solid 2 way player but still why limit guance and his potential upside brendan (aka gretzky) gaunce has a nice ring to it
  10. yep it is a break from technical writing constraints that have consumed a lot of my working life
  11. well if conformity provides you with a level peace and non conformity simply irks you that's ok the message still gets across in my posts
  12. the sedins are hall of famers they are the best players to have ever played for this franchise bieksa is not in the same class as them hence the different treatment overall they have also played for less money then they could have received if they had taken a more business approach and that commitment needs to be recognized and the organization needs to show the same commitment to them and allow them to have some say in how their careers end this not a stanley cup team there is no present need to use all financial resources to achieve a cup run in a year or 2 the situation might be different flexibility can be shown to the sedins as we have the luxury of no financial pressures presently
  13. a little birdy might have told me ...... or my meds might not be working properly that he might retire and follow the burm man back to russia
  14. i think we have a lot more in common on these issues then we differ i guess i'm mostly annoyed at the unnecessary provocation initialed by trump there were smart people involved in whatever negotiations were happening and the orange man just pulled the rug out from that process which can only leave the situation worse off but i'm done with this topic i appreciate your commentary
  15. not to sound too pure or overly cynical but i guess it comes down to what is the price you place on your morality / ethics i guess everything is for sale or at least can be bought
  16. if i was the opposition i'd be studying tapes on brock from his collegiate days he seems to have an easier time scoring in the nhl then he did in college is the nhl bizzaro world to brock? he seems to be toying with it a goal a game now for what seems like a month
  17. one thing i have learned in life is you cannot control how others behave or respond sometimes you just need to do what is right and let the chips fall where they may if trump and the usa wish to behave as a spoiled child i guess that can be the response we are left with
  18. this issue is not about feuding it is about the international vision and stand on what is best for the world trump is the one who will have it devolve to feuding because he takes that position on anything and anyone who does not fawn over his decision making
  19. who cares the usa is isolating itself in the long run it will end up being the most damaged the usa approach recently has little to do with global well being if short term pain is the cost i really think we will be fine in the long run nothing negative happened long term from chretian's stand about iraq the orange man cannot find battles on so many fronts in pursuit of his limited view of the world and expect to have the usa prosper
  20. whatever comments i may have made previously about justin trudeau are revised and altered due to the decision to have canada abstain from the un vote condemning the usa and it is aggravated by the fact that he is the son of PET pierre elliot trudeau must be rolling in his grave in embarrassment over his son's recent antics whatever happened to voicing your principles and the consequences be damned sometimes you just have to stand up i am not very political and could not be bothered to debate the nuances of many political decisions in this country but the important international ones have always interested me and overall our leadership has done fairly well standing up for canada when it counted chretian has my permanent respect for standing up to the usa over iraq when so many european countries simply backed the usa he asked "where's the proof" and refused to be drawn in now we have a weak kneed leader hailing most recently from the westcoast who has shamed this country in the un you have lost my respect permanently justin
  21. congrats JT you have finally passed that important threshold that demonstrates you are a seasoned veteran politician you are disliked sweet
  22. well the kid is recovering from mono this season he has played impressively despite not being quite 100% energy wise he was not sure he'd even be selected for the preliminary roster
  23. i guess i missed it that last years team made the playoffs musta slept through it
