  1. for that to be a playoff team the pitching will need to be ultra stellar cuz the offense is gonna be kinda meh
  2. the problem is that when those critical pieces are changed even if you replace them with equal quality there is no guarantee of chemistry and production from the new pieces we have seen that before and who do the fans identify with now as their key players? waston? harvey? ousted is also gone now... i really did not understand that one either . it appears to be a lateral move in goal but we lose a long time cap as a result
  3. why? he's not a centre he has not played at the top level in sweden he has not played in the ahl but let's just take this young kid and move him straight to the nhl in mid season with an expectation he will help the team
  4. renya wants to play for peru in the world cup and needs to play in a higher league next year to do so he also is dealing with criminal matters.. he was present with friends at a private house event where a 16 year old girl died/ was killed you'll hear more about it in the next day or two he is very unlikely to be returning to the caps next season
  5. mmmm this caps team has a lot of trouble with continuity montero appears to be gone reyna also is likely not coming back arguably the 2 best players on the team gone so now a new chemistry experiment must occur with new key players so as fans this is gonna be a do over with fans gonna have to be just content that there is a local team and brand.. but i really think the team is trying the patience and loyalty of fans
  6. he should move to the SHL when his contract permits that nothing really to be gained for him or the team to move him to north america in february let him play with petersson for 3 months if that can be arranged
  7. believe what you wish each team drafts 7 players a year (unless they alter that) if all made it the team would have to deal with 21 new players every 3 years (a complete team turnover effectively) most do not make it so yeah, the stats show 2 years for a 2nd round pick is not bad.. it's ok if you do not like the stats though but a bit strange to then knock jb for basically getting average return for that pick but maybe you just don't like jb
  8. disagree getting 2 seasons out of a 2nd round pick is average success actually go review the stats on 2nd round picks nothing wrong with the vey acquisition in terms of games played
  9. yeah right as if i would help some crazed stalker like you to haunt boeser till he breaks emotionally bleh here, try this link http://www.fromthisseat.com/index.php/626-general/nhl-hotels/17118-vancouver-canucks-hotels or google: where the vancouver canucks stay when on the road
  10. yeah right as if anyone could answer that with 280 characters or less it will take pages of explanation the brief response - poor management
  11. ok that was my sense of things and i think his contract was mostly paid by his china club as well i think he was paid close to 5 million and the caps only paid about 1.8 of it so if he came back there is the salary issue and the transfer fee on top of it kinda not affordable
  12. does anyone know for sure ?? is freddy montrero not coming back cuz of his china club obligations?
  13. we will just have to disagree on loui i like him as a player but a player like vanek has had a bigger impact this year modeling the game for younger players dorsett had a bigger impact.. ask bo about the modeling provided to him by dorsett sundin was very influential, on the development of the sedins and kesler and he was paid 1 year only by the team loui was singed to help and prolong the impact of the sedins i think you are trying to change the narrative about him now
  14. i hear your sentiments but do not really agree when we have a quality team in place say in 3 or more years it is at that time a risky contract can be considered to put the team over the top it is foolish to risk torpedoing a rebuild by adding such a contract now as we really do not know what the needs of the team will be when it is really ready to compete the rebuild has to happen without these additional savior / long shot hope type players that is the reason why the loui contract is most criticized jb over reached a bit on him to try to get this team back into the playoffs he may still pan out but he really is not a good fit for this rebuild
  15. getting kane to agree to any contract that contains terms outside the usual good conduct requirements is strange why would he come here if he was not truly wanted.. some other team will be clearer about their want for him and good luck trying to cancel his contract once it is signed even richards contract could not be cancelled and he was involved in criminal activity and why would kane use is 1 real free agency chance to sign a back loaded contract? this is his one real chance to get overpaid, get security, and get more money up front typically these contracts are front loaded, filled with bonuses. so they are by-out proof go look at ericksson's contract that is more the type of deal kane will get - but perhaps a bit richer so your rosy view of this all is a bit unrealistic ?
  16. i bet you are are using the markstrom/nilsson swedish equivalency quotient there to reach your conclusion?
  17. i remain one of them i suspect that if nilsson qualified on a games played basis for these measurements his stats would be better than markstrom nilsson has played very well in every game i watched him in this is not a criticism of markstrom at all. .he justifiably is getting recognition he deserves but nilsson has just been a bit better overall in my view still... nitpicking over who is better when both clearly are playing well. .. is a nice situation to be in for a fan and the team
  18. what are you talking about rodin could not make the team out of training camp and preseason he was paid for an entire year... to play 3 games. .when it turned out a previous medical procedure on a knee injury turned out to be inadequate he was resigned by jb to a 1 way contract.. no other team would do that for him and then he was not able to make the main team.. he showed very little in preseason . that actually surprised me.. . i believe he lost a step due to his injury how is this bad treatment by jb? jb demonstrated class by releasing him when rodin requested that you have anti jb bias bad i think
  19. always good to throw in a baseless conspiracy theory to fuel your frustration and anger i mean, really, the nhl really want the oilers to get mcdavid?? really??
  20. the current caps have talented players who cost money so i do not get your point my point was that the nasl caps did not have the really high payrolls of the major usa teams .. like new york. . who had pele and sure they had talent that were paid .. it was a winning team the current caps will have to do the same .. .win without having a crazy payroll that has no business basis given the revenues of the team
  21. no idea alf caps won a championship while in the nasl without having the top line talent like pele as other teams had you were around then .. i know that much but i doubt the caps have the resources to basically buy talent in an indirect way to buy a championship i certainly do not get why people think that is an acceptable model anyway put everyone on the same financial footing and see who has the best management/coaching team as well as the best on the field team
  22. well so easy for you to call the owners cheap cuz it's not your money you realize freddy is being paid 1.8 million by the caps this year.. pretty significant money in my view and freddy actually has a contract for significantly more i believe.. with his china club (5 million range. i could be wrong) they are paying him as well, the difference between his contract and what the caps pay him, to not play for them this year he is on loan to the caps cuz the china league changed its import rules and his team had too many imports he is not worth 5 million in salary to the caps... and that does not even include the transfer fee that would need to be paid to get him here so the caps can own his rights so he'd eat up more than half the salary paid out this year by the team.. hardly a good investment and the owners became rich by not being stupid and throwing money around cuz some fan thinks it is ok to call them cheap
  23. i honestly do not get paying gud more then around what he is currently getting paid to provide what is largely a one dimensional physical presence i do not know any dman who receives 5 million on a long term contract to fulfill that narrow role i get that people like guddy, but his skill set is not really the best fit in the current nhl people repeatedly bitch about dorsett's contract.. dorsett, until this year anyway, provided a one dimensional physical presence on the forward line (and when i read the descriptions of what gud's value to the team is and his skill set, it is remarkably similar to dorsett, but he plays on the back end) and it appears the majority of people felt paying dorsett 2.65 million average on a 4 year deal (less then the league average) was an over payment that required regular and repeated criticism i am ok with the dorsett contract actually .. but cannot see sufficient justification to paying gud 2 million or more in additional salary to dorsett and for a longer term but it's not my money .. just adding my thoughts
  24. great how is the team you own doing ? the mls is an immature league with no salary cap which allows what we are seeing an ownership group can basically buy a championship if they spend a lot and spend wisely and that is what is occurring but not many teams can sustain that model and if it persists.. so as to create a rich / poor teams gap the league is unlikely to survive but presently it is doing fine it seems i don't think vancouver is a developing market but i do think it is pretty finicky so many options here other then just sport viewing so the team has to be competitive and enticing to attract a fan volume i think the present vancouver caps business model works pretty well just think the team made some mistakes in the past undervaluing some talent.. over valuing others this year they have been a bit more accurate in their player assessment they do need another quality midfielder . . other then reyna
  25. gotcha i see it clearly now i'm not sure it was there when i looked previously but thanks for your response and update about the changes
