If anybody watched last nights game against LA you would know why Benning drafted Virtanen over Nylander/Ehlers. Cali triangle is death to small soft teams.

The Kings Ducks Sharks are filled with big heavy guys that are hard on the puck. Benning said you have to have size with skill to even compete in this division. Just look at the playoffs in the Western conference last year and the year prior it was brutal compared to the east. You need size and speed with a deadly shot and you get that in Virtanen, also with a bit of nasty. You also left out of your Canuck lineup MCcann who was rated as having the 4th highest iq amongst last years class. He also posseses speed grit and a wicked shot and good size, another pefect fit for the west. Virtanen+MCcann> Nylander.

If you have too many assists people complain that you are to dumb to score goals. or secondary assists don't really mean anything. If people don't like a player because of whatever reason all they look for is the negatives.

This kid is one of the youngest in the draft, at 6ft 210. He could be 6/1- 6/2 at 220-225 at 23, like this pick. We drafted 2 big kids with speed. Most of the Pacific division with the exception of maybe the Sharks went with size.

Most of those guys can play wing if needed, need that in the pacific.

On the iq meter TSN had he is right up there with the top guys, looks like was surprised about the Nucks getting him, almost like it came out of left field. He will love playing in Vancouver.
