Kyle Beach is a hero for coming forward. I hope this whole thing makes some real positive change in the NHL, in pro sports, and in general.
Paul Vincent is also a hero for sticking to his guns and reporting it to upper management even though it cost him cup rings and salary etc etc.
Rick Westhead for his dogged determination to pursue this story and not give up despite being ripped to shreds on twitter and all the roadblocks he faced.
Brent Sopel, Nick Boynton for speaking up and shedding light on this situation despite not even knowing Kyle Beach and having nothing to gain from it.
It's a step in the right direction. Good on these people.

You won't be able to watch those videos on the forums here, the embedded links don't work. However, if you just open them in a new tab actually just watch them on twitter's site, they work just fine.

Clickbait from D and D, nothing to see here.......

Appreciate the time it takes to compile these sorts of things. Definitely interesting, and Tampa really is a good example of an insanely deep lineup. Every line can do damage.

Nice write-up, sure takes a fair bit of research and time to put something like this together, for thanks for that.
Honestly, it's such a joke that Edmonton is in the state they are in after all of those lottery picks. It's really quite pathetic.
I'm excited for our core to move forward and see what they can do.

Haha, my brother played hockey with this guy in Peewee, his dad was the coach. That team also produced another fringe NHLer.
Good for Brad signing with his hometown team. Must be pretty awesome. He'll be great depth in Abby who can be called up and actually play NHL games. He played 59 games for the Wild in 2019-2020.

Canucks free agent signing threads.....
Hamonic = 10 pages
Halak = 6 pages
Schenn = 11 pages
Sutter = 9 pages
Garland = only 14 pages!
Poolman = 54 pages
Sums up this market, its fans, and the media pretty succinctly.

Him and getz shouldve gone there good signing
That would have been amazing haha. Wonder if they talked about it at all

Can we just move on with Virtanen.

LOL, I have to admire your cynicism and ability to extract this scenario out of the contract signed.
Hahaha, the chance that this happens is about next to zero but I definitely had a good chuckle.

Another way to look at is this: What would you rather have if given the opportunity to have one of the following starting in October 1st 2022?
1) Hughes + Myers
OR
Graves + 1st + [Parayko or Klingberg]?
Easily the worst trade in recent Canucks memory if you actually pulled the trigger on that.
This entire plan is predicated on landing Parayko or Klingberg? What if they don't hit FA or sign with another team? There's a reason actual GMs don't make these kinds of trades. Known quantities are always worth more than unknown quantities. Every single time. When's the last time you saw a player of Quinn's caliber get traded for anything less than a 1st, multiple other picks and multiple players/prospects?
In your proposal:
Myers - cap dump
Hughes - sweetener?
Graves - Good shutdown defenseman (who you're vastly overrating)
Subban - cap dump
1st round pick - Unknown quantity. Could be anywhere from a 3rd line player to a legit 1st liner to a complete bust.
some unknown chance of signing a big UFA
This could end up as trading Hughes and Myers for Graves and a 1st. Would that acceptable return to you?

.9% fatality rate in Brazil, where it's gone up 3 times recently ... that's bad for sure, these guys will get the best care in the world. Not denegrating it, just noticed a lot of back and forth but not actual stats being used, and where these stats are coming from.
Yep, the CRF (case rate fatality) is anywhere from around 2.6-3.4 times higher than the first variant, depending on the region.

A lot of people in here thinking this will just blow over in a couple weeks don't seem to realize this is not the original variant, this is the far more virulent and deadly P.1 variant from Brazil.
They are entirely not the same thing. The data is quite, quite, different. I'm not saying that the sky is falling, but it's quite naive to think that in two weeks the Canucks will all be just fine and playing again as if this never happened. It's possible that MIGHT happen, but the chances that it doesn't happen are just as high.
Considering the fatality rate of people aged 20-39 for this particular variant of Covid-19, the concern is valid.

Flu's have gone thru entire teams before, this is being massively blown out of proportion.
Considering it's the P.1 variant from Brazil that is spreading through the Canucks org, no, actually, it is not being blown out of proportion at all.
If you look at the studies done in Brazil about this particular variant, the fatality rate for the 20-39 age group is nearly triple, and we've only begun to document and understand its long-lasting effects. The virulence and fatality rate of this particular variant is incredibly high.

Guy is just a darling of the league in a lot of ways. He's just hilariously goofy and dorky and likable, all the while being absolutely squeaky clean and polite and well-spoken.
Can't help but love Petey, what a stud. I still have to pinch myself at times that we got this guy at 5th.

Guy was an absolute warrior, and his career trajectory like others have mentioned, is impressive.
A lot of hard, hard, miles on that body.

Honestly, it's not the points ffs, Podz is doing all the little things well. His attention to the defensive details and his tenacity and work ethic no matter who he's playing against is what's getting people excited about him.
And if you didn't watch the game, then I'm honestly not sure why anyone would think they have anything meaningful to contribute to the discussion lmfao.

And where Heiskanen? He’s the one at this point who’s taken off and made some separation from the group - and also the one who I’m pretty sure will actually get the title as the “next Lidstrom” which the Dahlin hype went to before the draft.
All four are awesome, and I couldn’t be happier. Murphy, Wilson, Lidstrom and Housley re-animated. Makar, Dahlin, Heiskanen and Hughes - all offer similar yet different things.
Exactly, I'm surprised this discussion doesn't include Heiskanen. Miro is for SURE one of the premier young defensemen in the league, no doubt.

I've been watching The Hockey Guy's videos for a while now. He always has unbiased and insightful opinions about hockey. Great channel.

Probably going to be Millsy, honestly. The guy is already a leader for this team without the letter.
I could see Myers sharing some "A" duties, and as others have noted, Pettersson down the line.

With AMD taking an absolute DUMP on Intel right now, you can build a gaming PC for insanely cheap.
The Ryzen 5000 series is super affordable for the power you're getting, but this means you could grab a 3000 series for super cheap. You shouldn't go anywhere near an Intel processor right now.
Also, with the Radeon 6000 series coming that will work with Ryzen 5000 series to allow the CPU to use video memory will boost your performance even more.
Do a little research, and get a place like Memory Express to build it for you (you pick the parts). Do yourself a favour and don't buy a pre-built. You'll overpay for lower quality parts, every time.
You can save money on your motherboard if you don't need a network adapter that can support higher than gigabit internet (which I assume most people don't even have), etc etc etc

Holy crap, I can't believe I saw some people post lineups that didn't have Bure in it. Did you guys even watch the guy play AT ALL?

Why do so many people conveniently forget that all these bad contracts that are so-called handcuffing the team right now were signed when this team was absolutely atrocious?
When your team is really bad, you pay more to outbid other teams during UFA, it's really quite simple. If you don't improve your team and insulate your young up-and-coming stars, you end up like the Oilers getting top 3 picks year after year after year and still being absolutely garbage.
Players like Sutter and Beagle do a lot more on and off the ice and in the locker room than people seem to think. Those hard defensive zone draws and PK minutes don't play themselves, and they certainly don't get played by teenagers who weigh 170 lbs.
I'm not sitting here saying every single one of Benning's moves are homeruns but looking at the overall picture he's done a good job, for sure. The other NHL GMs seem to agree.

Yep, all a bunch of classless pieces of sh**.
After all the information being revealed, these guys still have the audacity to just pass the buck and make excuses. They can all rot in hell.
