  1. Nice write-up, sure takes a fair bit of research and time to put something like this together, for thanks for that.

Honestly, it's such a joke that Edmonton is in the state they are in after all of those lottery picks.  It's really quite pathetic.

I'm excited for our core to move forward and see what they can do.

  2. Haha, my brother played hockey with this guy in Peewee, his dad was the coach.  That team also produced another fringe NHLer.

Good for Brad signing with his hometown team.  Must be pretty awesome.  He'll be great depth in Abby who can be called up and actually play NHL games.  He played 59 games for the Wild in 2019-2020.

Another way to look at is this:   What would you rather have if given the opportunity to have one of the following starting in October 1st 2022?

    1) Hughes + Myers

    OR

    Graves + 1st + [Parayko or Klingberg]?

Easily the worst trade in recent Canucks memory if you actually pulled the trigger on that.

This entire plan is predicated on landing Parayko or Klingberg?  What if they don't hit FA or sign with another team?  There's a reason actual GMs don't make these kinds of trades.  Known quantities are always worth more than unknown quantities.  Every single time. When's the last time you saw a player of Quinn's caliber get traded for anything less than a 1st, multiple other picks and multiple players/prospects?

    In your proposal:

    Myers - cap dump

    Hughes - sweetener?

Graves - Good shutdown defenseman (who you're vastly overrating)

    Subban - cap dump

1st round pick - Unknown quantity.  Could be anywhere from a 3rd line player to a legit 1st liner to a complete bust.

some unknown chance of signing a big UFA

This could end up as trading Hughes and Myers for Graves and a 1st.  Would that acceptable return to you?  :picard:

.9% fatality rate in Brazil, where it's gone up 3 times recently ... that's bad for sure, these guys will get the best care in the world.    Not denegrating it, just noticed a lot of back and forth but not actual stats being used, and where these stats are coming from.

Yep, the CRF (case rate fatality) is anywhere from around 2.6-3.4 times higher than the first variant, depending on the region.

  5. A lot of people in here thinking this will just blow over in a couple weeks don't seem to realize this is not the original variant, this is the far more virulent and deadly P.1 variant from Brazil.

They are entirely not the same thing.  The data is quite, quite, different.  I'm not saying that the sky is falling, but it's quite naive to think that in two weeks the Canucks will all be just fine and playing again as if this never happened.  It's possible that MIGHT happen, but the chances that it doesn't happen are just as high.

Considering the fatality rate of people aged 20-39 for this particular variant of Covid-19, the concern is valid.

Flu's have gone thru entire teams before, this is being massively blown out of proportion.

Considering it's the P.1 variant from Brazil that is spreading through the Canucks org, no, actually, it is not being blown out of proportion at all.

If you look at the studies done in Brazil about this particular variant, the fatality rate for the 20-39 age group is nearly triple, and we've only begun to document and understand its long-lasting effects.  The virulence and fatality rate of this particular variant is incredibly high.

And where Heiskanen?  He’s the one at this point who’s taken off and made some separation from the group - and also the one who I’m pretty sure will actually get the title as the “next Lidstrom” which the Dahlin hype went to before the draft.

All four are awesome, and I couldn’t be happier.   Murphy, Wilson, Lidstrom and Housley re-animated.   Makar, Dahlin, Heiskanen and Hughes - all offer similar yet different things.

Exactly, I'm surprised this discussion doesn't include Heiskanen.  Miro is for SURE one of the premier young defensemen in the league, no doubt.

  8. Probably going to be Millsy, honestly.  The guy is already a leader for this team without the letter.

I could see Myers sharing some "A" duties, and as others have noted, Pettersson down the line.

  9. With AMD taking an absolute DUMP on Intel right now, you can build a gaming PC for insanely cheap.

The Ryzen 5000 series is super affordable for the power you're getting, but this means you could grab a 3000 series for super cheap.  You shouldn't go anywhere near an Intel processor right now.

Also, with the Radeon 6000 series coming that will work with Ryzen 5000 series to allow the CPU to use video memory will boost your performance even more.

Do a little research, and get a place like Memory Express to build it for you (you pick the parts).  Do yourself a favour and don't buy a pre-built.  You'll overpay for lower quality parts, every time.

You can save money on your motherboard if you don't need a network adapter that can support higher than gigabit internet (which I assume most people don't even have), etc etc etc
