I've checked other teams out and see that having a message board like ours is quite rare. I think ours is a very informative panel with a lot of hockey knowledge. Yet there is a small group of ocd negativity, whose minds you'll never change. However since our chat board is so active I think we draw our not so fair share of trolls and haters. And I think our moderators do a great job on trying to keep things on a even keel. But my hopes are for the best and if we can get a playoff round in I think it'll be a good morale boost for those of us die hard fans.

I'm hoping a ELC comes up and takes a spot if not this year than next year. If we start handing out long term contracts like Pesce we won't have room for a young solid defenseman to join us. Jurmo or Lil Petie for example.

Yeah I don't remember it being used but I think it would be cool.

If he plays well to start the season he'll start to attract suitors. 1M prorated. And if we retained some cap. It's like one of Alf's cheap dates carrying half a six pack.

Let the hockey gods help, team chemistry might click, maybe we get a hot hand on the second or third line, add a lower cost forward at the trade deadline who goes on a tear. Lower minutes for our stars means our pk is up to snuff. I agree Myers is great in the post season, but not Bear. I'd rather use a black ace from Abby than Bear. Toughness up front, a pto 10 game special to Ritchie maybe. Or Juulsen on the 4th line. We need guys that can hand out snot bubble hits. I don't think we can afford to audition Martin again, it's Silovs job to lose.

It's also about land cost and feasibility. I used to work in Abbotsford and getting there in the morning was ok but getting home in rush hour was not. Land cost has to be part of it, and Abbotsford might welcome the idea with incentives thrown in. Game days would be Rogers as usual. Imagine Abby practicing in a rink next to the parent club. Yeah it will be difficult for sure to find a spot. Or maybe canvas closer municipalities to see if they have proposals to get a practise facility built in closer, from Langley on in. Or someplace close to a skytrain.

Rush hour for sure, but staggered travel times would help. Build a rest area complex to keep players overnight during training. Land would be cheaper, maybe Abbotsford might offer them a deal on a spot. Added revenue for the area. Downtown is going to be hella expensive and building codes are probably way stricter and more red tape.

What about building something close to our Abbotsford team facilities.

I don't think we're in a rush to move him now, let the trades come to us. Other teams will looking at a steal of a deal 1M, and if we retain 1 or 2M in cap. He's going to save alot of energy in a lesser role. And he's a beast I'm the playoffs. And he has better coaches now that can help him.

Leave Mik out till January and let him heal properly. Combine that cap savings with a player and a prospect to find a power forward.

If I was captain and making mad cash I'd organize something ad hoc. Heck invite all local BC boys to scrimmage. Everyone chip in 10 g's and make it pro level. Not mandatory. Skate instructors, yoga benders, food masters, brew masters.

I was thinking 8 rinks. If they booked 2 rinks exclusively for 5 weeks. 8 rinks makes much needed coin, rent out some close by hotel rooms. The young players, single players get going with coaching from the staff. Overseas players can have something to come back for. Cordon off the 2 rinks for privacy. Set up movie trailers like actors get. Video sessions in the hotel. Set up a gym and weight room at the hotel. Physical therapists and nutritionists, massage whatever. Use Rogers facilities when available.

I have high expectations too but tempered with the knowledge that we always get our fair share of disappointments. I think our disappointments we're going to have to overcome are: Mik only 40 games, but playoffs. Hogs not scoring. Boeser slump continues. Not goalie controversy but back up controversy. And losing someone to waivers. But with some hard work we'll get in to the post season.
