2020 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 3 "HIGH FLYING" EDITION Glenn Cain (C) Cain is a 6'2 222 lbs powerforward who is currently leading the QMJHL in scoring with 55 points in 40 games. Cain is one of the most elite skaters in this draft, and as a later birthday, is poised to finish his 3rd QMJHL season, with all of them above a point per game. There are some concerns to whether Cain is just a bully using his size against smaller players, or if this offensive outburst for the 3rd straight season is sustainable into the NHL. Nicolas Pelletier (RW/LW) Playing on a line with Capitals prospect Eric McClennon, McClennon and Pelletier are 1-2 in WHL scoring with Pelletier having produced 31 goals and 51 points in 35 games. Pelletier is a playmaking forward who has an exceptional rating of 20 (out of 20) for speed is also coming off of a 76 point season last year. The Pelletier-McClennon duo are currently representing Canada at the World Juniors and due to their existing chemistry, have formed 2/3 of Canada's top line. Jere Jokela (LD) Playing for Jokerit's U18 team, the offensive defenceman Jokela has absolutely torn apart the competition this season. With 15 goals and 37 points in 17 games, Jokela is sporting an absurd 8.35 AVR. It is odd that Jokela hasn't played games for the U20 team, after playing the bulk of last season there. Could there potentially be attitude or character problems that is preventing Jokela from moving up the Jokerit depth chart? Nathan Malmquist (LW/C) Malmquist has exploded with his goal scoring this season, having put up 34 goals in 36 games for Mississauga in the OHL. His efforts haven't gone unnoticed, as the 17 year old is currently representing the United States at the World Juniors. Some scouts whether if Malmquist is a product of playing with Red Wings prospect Jack Hughes, or if Malmquist is a player that can continue this success into the future. Aidan Horton (C) Horton is a big 6'3 211 lbs two-way forward currently playing for Regina in the WHL and representing Canada at the WJC. Through 36 games this season, Horton has 19 goals and 41 points. This is following up a 75 point season last year as a 16 year old. Horton is a well rounded player with no major flaws that could turn into an impact two-way centerman in the NHL.

2020 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 2 "Defenseman" Edition Alexandr Sobolev (RD/LD) As a 17 year old playing in the KHL, Sobolev is currently tied for 7th in all of the KHL's defenceman scoring with 3 goals and 19 points in 34 games. Sobolev is one of the youngest players in this draft, with a late August birthday but is currently signed in the KHL until through at least the 2021 season. At 6'2, Sobolev is a smooth skating defenceman who has top end offensive skills. 14 of Sobolev's 19 points have come on the PP, and Sobolev may make his NHL living running a team's top powerplay. Alexey Koloskov (RD) Another 17 year old playing in the KHL, Koloskov has one-upped Sobolev and is leading all KHL defenceman in scoring thus far. With his 23 points in 36 games, Koloskov is one of the best skating draft eligible prospects and is averaging just under 20 minutes a game this season. Although he has produced more than Sobolev, his raw attributes are a bit weaker right now, and it may take him longer to develop into an NHL regular. Koloskov is signed in Russia until at least 2022. Jean-Francois Paradis (LD) Paradis is a big 6'3, 218 lbs offensive defenceman currently playing for the Erie Otters. Through 25 games this season, Paradis has produced 4 goals and 17 assists which is good for 3rd in team scoring. However, Erie is the worst team in the OHL so far, and Paradis' -21 is the worst plus/minus rating in the league. Some may wonder if this losing environment may affect Paradis heading into a future NHL career, however it may not matter as Paradis may be able to step into an NHL roster next year. Anthony Dobson (LD/RD) Dobson is a massive 6'4 offensive defenceman who is a minute-munching machine for Rimouski averaging over 24 minutes of ice time per game this year. Offensively, Dobson has 8 goals and 19 points in 24 games thus far, and his slapshot strikes fear in opponents. Dobson will need to work on improving his skating to make an impact at the NHL level, but he is a player that is very determined and a natural leader, as evidenced by him being an assistant captain for the Oceanic. Kyle DeBlouw (RD) The 1st overall pick in the 2018 OHL Draft, Deblouw is an offensive defenceman currently leading his Kitchener Rangers in scoring with 1 goal and 23 points in 27 games so far this season. At 6 foot and 183 lbs, Deblouw isn't the biggest guy, and he struggled to crack the Rangers lineup as a rookie last season only appearing in 45 games. Will Deblouw be able to live up to his hype as a 1st overall pick in the O-Show?
