  4. 2019 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 3 "The Forgotten Ones" Edition Jack Hughes (LW/C) The undersized forward has not lived up to his draft hype and is unlikely to go first overall this year anymore. Hughes is producing at a PPG clip with Mississauga in the OHL however much more was expected heading into this season. There are concerns that Hughes will be too small to translate to any success in the NHL. Alex Turcotte (C/LW) Playing for the USNTDP, Turcotte has had an "ok" season this year with 23 points in 26 games. He is receiving NCAA interest from the University of North Dakota and the two-way forward will likely need to play a few seasons in college before considering a jump over to the NHL. Peyton Krebs (LW) Krebs has found his offensive touch in his WHL rookie season, currently sitting with 38 points after 37 games. This comes after a lacklustre season in the BCHL where he only produced at a 0.5 PPG clip. The forward plays a 200 foot game, and is a player that many teams will keep an eye on for the rest of this season. Bowen Byram (LD) Supposed to be receiving tons of exposure in his draft year, Byram has had a disappointing start to the year with Seattle in the WHL, with only 12 points in 35 games. It was expected that Byram would get big minutes running the teams top powerplay unit, however he has been relegated to the 2nd unit for the majority of the season. Kirby Dach (C) Dach may be the biggest enigma in this year's draft. For 2 months this season, he actually spent time in jail (similar to Salman Kane, RGMG 1.0). In the games he has played for Saskatoon, he has produced 15 points in 19 games. There are questions whether teams can handle the playmaking forward, and this may end up tanking his draft status completely.

  14. 2019 DRAFT TIDBITS "Growing the Game" Edition Barry McCalla (RD) Inspired by "Cool Runnings", McCalla will make NHL history as the first Jamaican ever to be drafted in the NHL. The small 5'8 defenceman has appeared in 3 games for Jokerit in the KHL this season, but has played more regularly with their junior team, suiting up in 14 games and producing 5 points. Pranab Singh (C/RW/LW) Singh is a hulking 6'5 defensive forward that was born and raised in India that is currently playing in his rookie season for Brandon in the WHL. Singh is a faceoff ace, winning 75% of his draws this season, and has produced 13 points in 24 games as well. Singh has NHL bloodlines, as he is related in some way to current Edmonton GM @Zigmund.Palffy and that may help his draft stock this summer. Yaqoub Hasan Al-Marashda (C/LW) An NHL prospect from the United Arab Emirates? Yep, you've heard right. Al-Marashda is playing for the same Kansas City U18 program that produced multiple NHL picks last year, and is looking to make history as well. The checking forward is known to have a "bomb" for a shot. Rati Jojua (RD/LD) Jojua is an NHL hopeful from the country of Georgia and is currently playing in a midget A league in Ontario. Through 17 games this season, Jojua has produced 39 points as an offensive defenceman, which has started to garner NHL interest. Indrek Jarjomenko (RW) Jarjomenko is a goal scoring winger from Estonia who is currently in his rookie season with Red Deer in the WHL. Through 29 games, the Estonian has produced 11 goals and 19 points. The 6'3 winger is looking to be the first Estonian drafted to the NHL this summer.

  19. Things are starting to get back to normal here I've emailed Pickup to start setting up our playoff pool, just waiting for confirmation from them that their systems will be able to track points for both the play-in games, as well as the round robin. Once I've gotten my confirmation, I will create the pool and I will start to compile the playoff rosters from all 24 teams involved. Please note that due to the odd nature of all this, I will be submitting playoff rosters for any teams who are inactive, and I may have to start look into replacing those GMs if they do not come back onto CDC soon.

  24. 2019 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 1 "The preliminary top 5" Edition Branden Marcoux (C) Although we are only at November, Marcoux looks to be the front runner for first overall pick this upcoming June. Marcoux is a 6'4 sniper center that is off to a hot start with Moncton in the QMJHL with 13 goals and 25 points in 18 games. He has also added 67 hits and has won 62% of his faceoffs. It is believed that Marcoux could have franchise centerman potential. Logan McClennon (LW) McClennon, a finesse winger out of Edmonton in the WHL is off to a fast start this season with 10 goals and 20 points in 14 games, and an 8.07 AVR to boot. A late birthday, McClennon is older than his peers and may be more ready to directly jump into an impact role in the NHL next season. Although he stands at 6 foot and 196 lbs, McClennon is very shy to play a physical game and that may drop him down the ranknigs. Mario Colonnello (C) Could history be made this year? Colonnello is looking to become the highest ever Italian picked in the NHL draft and could do it from a relatively unknown "Alps" league in Austria. This season in 8 games, Colonnello has 6 goals and 13 points with an 8.47 AVR. The 6'4 two-way forward looks like a perennial Selke trophy candidate in the future with a strong 200 foot game. Eric McConnell (C) Apparently families with the "Mc" last name are trying to create the next McDavid.. McConnell is a lesser known prospect that has risen up the draft boards over the last year after a 112 point season with Wenatchee in the BCHL. The goal scoring forward has made the jump to the WHL in his draft year, and currently has put up 7 goals and 14 points in 15 games this season. Dennis Lohmar (RD) Lohmar made headlines last season, as the German played full time in the DEL putting up 31 points in 44 games as a 16 year old. With an August birthday, the two-way defenseman is also one of the youngest players in the draft, which has made scouts even more excited about his season last year. Lohmar was selected first overall in the Import Draft and has intentions of leaving Germany after this season, and either playing in the NHL or AHL.
