  10. DRAFT TIDBITS PART 3 "Risers Edition" With the midterm draft rankings now out, these tidbits focus on the players that have risen up the rankings... Derek Gentile (C) After 46 points in 39 games to start the season in the QMJHL, Gentile has moved up 40 spots in the rankings. The goal scoring centerman does have some risks to his game, including his diminutive 5 foot 7 frame, however teams always have their eyes on players who can produce.. Olle Eriksson Ek (G) What better way to make a name for yourself by starting a season 19-1-1? Eriksson Ek has moved up 40 spots in the Mid-Season rankings, and is sporting an impressive 0.928 save percentage to go with his 1.86 GAA for Farjestad in the Swedish J20 league. Jocktan Chainey (LD) Chainey has moved up 58 spots from September to January, partly due to his steady play for Halifax in the QMJHL. The pointman is producing at a 0.66 P/G clip, and is forming chemistry with 2018 draft eligible Jared McIsaac. Adam Capannelli (LW/C) Capannelli's game has really taken off this season as he has been the go to guy for Moncton. He plays 1st line minutes, along with top PP and PK time. The skilled forward is one of the teams points leaders with 28 points in 38 games, and scouts are starting to take notice as he's moved up 56 spots in the rankings. Grant Mismash (C) Mismash has moved up an incredible 73 spots in the rankings. Playing on a stacked USNTDP team, Mismash doesn't get the icetime that others may get but has shown glimpses of potential with 9 goals in 22 games. The two-way forward is headed to North Dakota next season.

  15. PERKS UPDATE: As stated before, the previous perks were subject to change, and there now is change. All teams will now receive 1 contract re-negotiation in the 2016-17 offseason. After this, there will be no more opportunities to re-negotiate players. The previous perk packages will still exist (with a few slight tweaks), however teams will not get to choose their package, they will be automatically assigned. The teams placing 1st through 10th in the end of season standings will be assigned the "Contending" package, the teams 11th through 20th will receive the "Middling" package, and the bottom 10 teams will get the "Rebuilding Package". Below are the new and updated packages: "Contenders" : The top 10 teams in the standings will receive the following: - 5 internal or external scouts that can be used to scout players on any team. These scouts may only be used on a player that has at least 1 full NHL season played. - 1 depth chart that can be used at any time throughout the year - The ability to exceed the salary cap by 1.5M for that upcoming season only - The ability to offer for "grizzled vets" in free agency that are chasing a Stanley Cup and willing to sign for a discount "Middling": The middle 10 teams in the standings will receive the following: - 10 internal or external scouts that can be used to scout players on any team. 22. Draft Tidbits Part 2 "Projected Top 5 Edition" Nolan Patrick (C) Patrick has looked like a man amongst boys this season in the WHL, currently sitting 3rd in league scoring with 38 points in 29 games. He has won an impressive 65% of his faceoffs, and has been teaming up with fellow draft eligible Stelio Mattheos to form a dynamic line in Brandon. There is no doubt that Patrick could have made an impact this season in the NHL. Elias Pettersson (C/LW) Pettersson is almost producing at a goal per game clip in the Swedish J20 league, with 12 goals and 20 points in 13 games. The playmaking forward is receiving offers from the top SHL teams and is expected to play his D+1 season there, in order to bulk up on strength. Nico Hischier (C) Hischer is currently 5th in QMJHL scoring, with 42 points in 31 games. The finesse centerman has had no issues adapting to the North American lifestyle, and is showing that he can step into a teams top 6 as early as next season. Miro Heiskanen (LD/RD) Heiskanen has split time this season between the Liiga and the J20 leagues in Finland. As a 17 year old, Heiskanen is the 3rd highest rookie producing defenseman, with 10 points in 24 games. He has dominated at the J20 level with 8 points in 6 games. It is likely that Heiskanen will spend his D+1 season in Finland. Cale Makar (RD) The unknown player in the top 5, scouts aren't sure whether Makar's stats (31 points in 21 games) is even good enough in the AJHL to warrant a top 5 pick. There are some concerns about the defensive side to Makar's game however he has the best +/- on his team. He will head to UMass next season in the NCAA.
