CBA AMENDMENTS
1. Missed this one by a year, but the minimum salary moving forward will now be $0.750M. This is for any contracts signed for the remainder of the 2021-22 season, as well as for the 2022-23 season. The minimum salary will mirror the NHL and jump up to $0.775M in 2024-25. The maximum salary still remains at 20% of the salary cap.
2. With that adjustment, this also means the drafted prospects ELC guidelines needs to change as well. There is only one change, that being just raising the 3rd to 5th round prospects to match the minimum salary:
Picks 1-3: $3.775M per
Picks 4-7: $2.875M per
Picks 8-15: $1.775M per
Picks 16-24: $1.375M per
Picks 25-31: $1.150M per
2nd round: $0.900M per
3-5th round: $0.750M per
3. Finally, credit to @ActionJax09 for this idea last year, qualifying offers for RFAs who are coming off of their Entry Level Contracts will be the lower of their previous caphit or $0.925M. This is to avoid bloated qualifying offers for highly drafted prospects who may not be living up to their potential following their first contract. For example: A player drafted 4th overall would have a previous caphit of $2.875M, but their qualifying offer upon expiry will be $0.925M. A player drafted in the 4th round would have a previous caphit of $0.750M, and their qualifying offer upon expiry will be the same, $0.750M.
