Makes me respect Chara more. He still wanted to play and in Boston but was willing to take short term "show me" contracts to stay. If Edler is moving on, it would appear he is not willing to let his play dictate if he stays but wants guarantees JB is not willing to give. Looking forward to the rebuild of our dense.

I disagree with the Masses this foward group is not the probem

If Baer is our most physical forward, its better if we dont make the playoffs. Have you watched any of the playing games? -

He's passable in regular season. Playoffs is a whole different game. Baer was benched in the past for being too much on the perimeter. I would expect when the refs put away the whistles (which they surely have) and the roughness amps up, Baer will not be very effective. -

Watching the physicality of the playoffs, Baertschi would really struggle to be effective in that environment. We will need more size and aggressiveness in our top 6 if we are going to be successful in the playoffs. Guys like Nathan McKinnon, Rantanen etc. are built for playoffs, guys like Johnny and Baertschi are not. Same on our D...you can have one or maybe two smaller guys provided they are fast, quick and smart but when the game turns to playoffs, size and physicality really matter. -

Knocked down every year and Chicago and Edmonton move up. This draft lottery is a &^@#ing disgrace. -
[GDT] Nucks @ Blues -- 1PM -- 06/04/19 -- A New New Hope

Happens a lot. One reason we get so little zone time. Also gives them opponents (often tired) a break. -

Beagle with the puck and time and no one going to the net. -
Well...I'd post a different opinion but then it wouldn't be mine. There are lots of ways to approach this and deal with Hughes. You are obviously 100% satisfied with how he is being handled so far. I am happy for you. IMHO allowing Hughes to experience every situation over his very short tenure this year is more valuable than having him sit on the bench "absorbing" how others are playing.
-
Look...no one wants him playing 25 minutes a game. The point of bringing him up and burning a year of ELC was for the team and him to get a good idea of where he is at so he can better prepare for next year. Basically sitting/protecting him in the third of a game that means nothing serves no purpose for him or the team. Does the team desperately need the points? NO! Let Hughes play a regular shift in all situations so he and the team know exactly where he is and what he needs to work on.
-
-
Yeah. you said that already.
-
I never said he did. Take away OT and he got 13 minutes. In the third, he got 4 shifts for 2.5 minutes. Up until the third the bucks were up two goal with Hughes playing mors shifts and he was plus 1. In the third Green basically sat him and played Hutton 9 shifts as the team have up the lead and button went -2. No knock on hutton but at this stage of the season, what is the point of that deployment? It's not like the kid was hurting them and it would have been good to see how he performed in that situation.
-
They burned a year off his elc to get him here and because of his foot, he will only see 7 games or so. Just rotate the d all 60 minutes and get him that valuable experience everyone talks about.
-
Disappointed Green would do that now that the Nucks are out of the playoffs. Play the kid in all situations to give him exposure and see how he matches up. SO what if you lose. It's not like Hughes lacks confidence and it will destroy his future. He wants to see where he is so he can prepare for next year. I imagine it was mostly a case of Green wanting to match his more experienced D against Dallas' top guys who were playing large minutes but at this stage, that strategy is wasted.

Obviously it works.

Haha.. jake obviously reads cdc

I cant disagree with any of this at all. When. Toews loses, he looks like he could bite a trailer in half. He hates losing more than he likes winning and I think that kind of attitude breeds champions. The other guy is the enemy while the game is being played. You have to want to crush him and beat him. Too often the canucks seem to be content with nust playing their game and letting the results happen . Guys like Crosby and toews make results happen .

I would say that Leivo has been more consistent in what he brings than Jake. That does illustrate how Jake could find himself on the outside looking in though. That position should be his with the time and coaching he has received here but instead it goes to a new comer.
-
I don't know Jake so I can't comment on his level of commitment. Commitment to fitness doesn't necessarily translate to commitment on the ice however and it seems that is Green's focus with Jake. With his tools (size, speed, shot) he should be a difference maker and needs to be one on a consistent basis. Is it a lack of commitment? A lack of hockey IQ? A kid who is slow to mature and grasp the game? Who Knows? The fact is that he is not producing at a level that will keep him in the top 6 and is not consistent and strong enough defensively to be a bottom six shut down guy. I really want Jake to make it because he has such incredible tools but there are other kids coming up that will be challenging him soon and he needs to make a leap to the next level if he doesn't want to see others pass him buy. JMHO.
-
I agree that Jake may yet put it together and if he does, I hope it will be with the Nucks. It would be nice to see Green put the kids in positions as you say regardless of whether they have Earned it or not just to see if it doesn't spark something. The magic of Burrows with the twins was achieved in a similar way. If Green can play Eriksson and Pearson on the top lines, why not give Jake a shot?

You and Gurn must have very active fantasy lives. You jump from some fans expressing observations and concerns to them having delusions of being NHL star players. Perhaps you need to temper your imagination just a bit.
