  1. you mean you're not impressed with the "reset"?!
  2. I can't imagine what Torts really thinks watching the Sedins plod up the ice and then cycle behind the goal line with no shots. Watching Nash and Richards tonight, those guys set the pace and drove the play every time they were on the ice. He has to wonder how the Nucks ever had the succss they did with the style the twins play.
  3. Happens all over the league. Chara was two handing guys all night long. Apparently the league has decided that cross-checking is okay unless it takes away a scoring chance. Funny, that's not what the rule book says.
  4. After watching Boston and New York, seeing the Nucks is like watching bantam hockey. Slow, poor puck movement, no physical presence. As for the PP, everyone saying how Ehrhoff benefited from playing with the Sedins...maybe it was the other way around?
  5. Sure...and he fits right in with the aggressive, take no prisoners style the Nucks are playing!!
  6. Yup. The Fox sports guys were commenting about how the Nucks are all checking with their sticks allowing the Panthers to get to the pucks and to stand in front of the net. Maybe the Nucks think this is ringette?!
  7. Yeah. Players have droughts. Teams have failure to execute. Even when they find themselves in position, they don't appear to have that instinct to get the puck up. The best goalies in this league all cover the bottom of the net. Everyone knows this. The difference is, real goal scorers execute on their chances by going upstairs. This is a skill that appears to be absent on our team.
  8. Did you cut and paste your comments from the 2011 season? Last year? the year before? Same problem and same comments. Every analyst and even Nucks management have all acknowledged that scoring goals has and continues to be a problem for this team..at least when it counts. Nothing has been done and here we are again.
  9. So much hate on Booth tonight and on the secondary scorers. How about The Sedins on a 2 on 1 in a perfect position for a shot/rebound and instead make a blind behind the back pass to a Dallas player? OR when Danny passes to Henrik in the seam who is behind the Dallas D man and Hank passes off to the boards to start the cycle? I've seen this same play from the twins numerous times this season and it is ridiculous. It's like they're allergic to the slot! WE had 43 shots tonight and the only forward I recall actually coming off the side boards to drive into the slot was Burrows. This team either lacks the talent to get into good scoring positions, or it lacks the commitment to do it. Torts needs to read the riot act to the Sedins that if they want to keep getting top minutes as our offensive line, they bloody well better change things up. Those who keep saying "it's only a four game scoring drought" are kidding themselves (or pacifying themselves). This "drought" has been going on for 3 years when it matters. An inability to generate offense/and or capitalize on chances leaves the Nucks vulnerable to bad bounces and bad calls (like tonight) and place far too much strain on their goalies d zone coverage. It's as if they have developed a mindset that all games are going to be close and so they play accordingly. Teams like Chicago, SJS etc, play with the expectation that they are going to out-score their opponents by a 2-1 or 3-1 margin and do.
  10. The team is average on paper and is playing to that level. LU has average numbers. Their record accurately reflects where they should be. The problem is, the fans have high expectations and view the team as a contender. The result...major disappointment.
  11. Hank tried to make a move but That behind the back pass on the 2 on 1 was pathetic. Shoot the f'in puck!!
  12. The difference in this game so far...Lehtonen stopped the chances the Nucks had that resembled the one LU let in.
  13. Shots doesn't mean much. It's more important who is doing the shooting and we don't really have any good ones. I mean, a Danny slapper from the top of the circle..really?!! my cat could stop that.
  14. Scorers - score and Plumbers - plumb The lack of true scoring talent continues to be evident.
  15. Garth Snow should be fired...right after he trades Grabner to the Nucks for Booth!!
  16. Kesler is a defensive specialist with offensive upside. Perfect for a third line role on a contending team. He is overpaid for the role he plays. Continuing to expect him to lead our secondary scoring is undermining the team's potential.
  17. Much of what you say is correct but...KB's comments could also be the warning signs of a power struggle to come. The amount of freedom to run "the room" these players have had is almost unprecedented and it failed miserably. Something has to change and while it was time for AV to move on, much of the blame for the team's failures falls directly on the core leaders and their inability to hold each other accountable for poor effort and bad habits. There's a reason new CEOs often make changes to senior personnel when they take on a new position. People who have had freedom, prestige influence and authority do not easily surrender it to someone else. Teams who's underperformance has lead to a coaching change and a turn around (Montreal, LA, Toronto etc) have all had success because they bought into the new coaches approach. That KB is already resisting change should be cause for concern.
  18. He's tied for the team lead at +7 and playing hard minutes. He's coming off an injury, a long layoff and is with a new team. The offence will come once he is comfortable with teh system and his teammates. I thin he's fit in pretty well so far and will get better as the season goes on. Not disappointed at all.
  19. He chose big minutes now instead of earning his time/place.
  20. Problem is, the Oilers while "growing" have been throwing their young stars onto the ice in scenarios that have seen them get injured because they were not yet strong enough or experienced enough to handle it. Both Taylor Hall and RNH have been treated this way. Edmonton doesn't have the depth to bring these guys along under the shelter of vets. It's kind of sink or swim. SChultz may excel and grow with the team, or he may lose confidence or have a career shortening injury. It's a bit more of a gamble, they path he has chosen.
  21. Easy in that he went wher he gets guaranteed top minutes without having earned them or learned his trade at the NHL level. Lots of young "stars" that get rushed to the NHL, suffer by being put in positions they are not yet ready for. It's a big leap playing against 220lb+ NHL forwards versus college kids. HE is not big physically and in a top 2 or 4 role could find himself struggling big time to cope.
  22. If Lidstrom had taken the approach Schultz did, he wouldn't have put in his time with Detroit and likely would not have won the cups or individual awards he did. Can't help but think the kid took the short-cut to fame and fortune and may have been better served learning his trade for a couple years before going for reaching for the brass ring. Time will tell.
