  5. Out Of Our Blue. We Rise. The Columbus Blue Jackets have wrapped up their season, and most likely their off-season as well, in what was a disappointing year where they missed out on qualifying for the Stanley Cup playoffs by 2 points with a team that was pretty much the same roster as the previous season. However there were still a lot of positives to take from the regular season. A big part of the reason the Columbus Blue Jackets missed the playoffs this season is due to their anemic powerplay to start off the year, which was an astounding sub-5% for about the first quarter of the regular season, and there is no doubt a lot of games were lost because of that. The other key issues was the lack of production from their top line, namely Nick Foligno and Cam Atkinson, which might have gone hand-in-hand with the lackluster powerplay, and the lack of 3 natural right-handed defensemen, which ended up seeing Ryan Murray switch over to his offside. On the more positive side, Seth Jones took a step forward in his defensive game this season, looking like a much more complete defenseman. Although he only amassed 37 points as opposed to 50 points last season, he looked much better defensively this year and looks poised to enter the elite group of defensemen in the league very soon. On a smaller note, there were some smaller improvements from Sonny Milano (21 points last season, 35 this season), and Oliver Bjorkstrand (46 points last season, 53 this season). Markus "The Nut" Nutvaara also made his appearance onto the scene this year, playing in his first NHL season, and led the team in +/- with a +21, while being responsible defensively. Heading into the off-season, the Blue Jackets made one significant trade in acquiring one of the best RD in the league in Drew Doughty, sending sexy Alexander Wennberg, promising prospect Eeli Tolvanen and the 13th overall pick in the 2018 draft the other way to Montreal. While it's tough to lose Wennberg as he was one of the more productive forwards on the roster, Pierre Luc-Dubois will look to make his NHL Debut this upcoming season, but will have a decent amount of production to try to fill as a rookie. Regardless he'll be given every opportunity to be a threat on the roster playing in the top-6. The Blue Jackets also made a more minor acquisition picking up Devante Smith-Pelly to help in the bottom-6, and doubling the amount of coloured players on the roster. Seth Jones will surely help make him feel welcomed to the team. Overall, the team still has some spots on forward that they can improve on, and will still seek to do so, but the team is probably set barring any more significant trades, meaning they'll be skipping out on free-agency this off-season. The Columbus Blue Jackets look poised to be a true contender for the first time in franchise history with their current roster, but the Metropolitan Division is truly a bloodbath and even making the playoffs will still be a challenge in itself. They'll need significant progression from their forward group this upcoming year for that to truly happen, and for Dubois to click right away, otherwise the team could be in trouble. With that said, here is how the 2018-19 Columbus Blue Jackets shape up for this upcoming season... Nick Foligno - William Karlsson - Cam Atkinson Brandon Saad - Pierre-Luc Dubois - Josh Anderson Sonny Milano - Boone Jenner - Oliver Bjorkstrand Matt Calvert - Brandon Dubinsky - Devante Smith-Pelly Zach Werenski - Drew Doughty Ryan Murray - Seth Jones Markus Nutvaara - Dalton Prout Sergei Bobrovsky Joonas Korpisalo

  11. Last call for FAs. Would like to wrap them up today, but I'm going to give teams at least 24 hours to do so since a lot of teams were waiting on RFAs. Teams that have still not sent in any UFAs are @donut47 @Time Lord @Baer. @Intoewsables You have until 5PM tomorrow to have sent in your offers and have them concluded, so I'd recommend not lowballing

  14. Out Of Our Blue. We Rise. The Columbus Blue Jackets have wrapped up their regular season and look towards the playoffs after what has been an incredibly surprising season from a good majority of their youth. The Blue Jackets ended up qualifying for the 2016-17 playoffs in a wild card spot and will face the Washington Capitals in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Blue Jackets have swept the season series with the division-leading Capitals but the playoffs are an entirely new season and there is no doubt that the Capitals are a team to feared. With that being said, looking back at the regular season, the Blue Jackets, who are the youngest team in the NHL this season, have impressively qualified for the playoffs and were led by some very surprising players on their roster. The future no doubt looks incredibly bright for the team, with the young players leading the way, and lots of progression still to occur, placing 12th in the NHL standings while the roster is still this young, the sky is truly the limit. Some notable tidbits from this regular season include the team having the leagues best PP% tied with the Montreal Canadiens at 25.2%. The team also had a total of 192 points from their entire defense this year, a pretty sizable contribution from the blueline and a big contributing factor to why the powerplay was so lethal this season. Sergei Bobrovsky had somewhere close to a sub .900 sv% halfway through the regular season and has finished off the year with a .913 sv%, very likely being one of the best goalies in the second-half of the regular season after a fairly poor start especially by his standards. Overall the team performed incredibly well this year from what the expectations were. A lot of players surprised on our roster, including sexy Alexander Wennberg (60 points), rookies Zach Werenski (48 points) and Oliver Bjorkstrand (46 points). While we look forward to the playoffs, the expectations going into next season will undoubtedly be higher as a good portion of our youth will have hopefully gained valuable experience and progressed once the season is over and done with. Of course, our ultimate goal is to win the cup, but the season as it stands is already quite a success. Hopefully we can bring a little more to the city of Columbus before the NHL season comes to an end. Team MVP: Cam Atkinson - (35G, 37A). Cam led the team in scoring this season, and by a fairly decent amount (12 points), all while being a pretty solid defensive winger. Cam easily was the teams best player this year and looks to be a staple on this team for years to come. Most certainly an unexpected season. Most Surprising Player: Alexander Wennberg - (27G, 33A). Alex was most certainly not expected to put up 1C points this year. While we expected Alex to be a solid contributor to our roster, the way he performed this year was without a doubt quite shocking. While he'll need to work on his FO% as it was a disappointing 41%, he most certainly made up for it with his offensive contributions this season. Best Defenseman: Seth Jones - (6G, 44A). Seth was a monster this year, all at the young age of 21 years old, putting up 50 points, leading our team in TOI, shots blocked, and a +/- of 19, he is proving to be a true franchise defenseman and will be one for years to come. Best Newcomer: Zach Werenski - (4G, 44A). Zach, like Seth has proven to be a cornerstone defenseman for this franchise, all in his first NHL season racking up a ridiculous 48 points as a 19 year old defenseman, something that is almost unheard of in today's NHL. The blueline looks set for years to come.
  15. Columbus Blue Jackets call up Sonny Milano
  16. Something something terrible overpaid Columbus Blue Jackets lineup, hope this team sucks ass but I expect them to finish somewhere between 7th-11th in the East and Wennberg will somehow put up 75 points and cost me 5M and my albatross contracts will screw me over. No positivity allowed in Columbus for the foreseeable future. Winning bad, losing good. Nick Foligno - Alexander Wennberg - Cam Atkinson Brandon Saad - Brandon Dubinsky - Josh Anderson Scott Hartnell - William Karlsson - Oliver Bjorkstrand Matt Calvert - Boone Jenner - David Clarkson Ryan Murray - Seth Jones Zach Werenski - Dalton Prout Jack Johnson - David Savard Sergei Bobrovsky Curtis McElhinney PEPOCHEER GO JACKETS (PLEASE LOSE) PEPOCHEER GO JACKETS (PLEASE LOSE) PEPOCHEER GO JACKETS (PLEASE LOSE)
