  1. If you were OEL. Would you waive to go to Toronto???
  2. Yeah righto..., In a 1/2 serious topic. Shattenkirk coulkd ouble his salary. And be affordable in Toronto. He is not exactly the type of D they need? But is the type they trend to going for.
  3. Toronto does seem to have stars in their eyes. Fixation with Matthews, Nylander, Marner, JT... I suppose it worked for Pittsburgh & to a lesser extent Boston? I will hate myself for suggesting it. But if they can clear another body; they could probably sign a D like Chris Tanev? I am far from convinced Jake will become a star or anything? My take is even if he does not? He is a very useful, serviceable athlete with a decent set of skills. Teams at least have to be careful how they match up. Properly deployed, his speed and size help the team! Kap also has speed. A highly skilled, bit stronger Tyler Motte who can chip ore into the game offensively. Teams can use a guy with the agility, in spite of speed something Jake does not have, to kill penalties. Track McDavid, Barzal type players in defensive match ups. Give TO some credit, they taught Sami's kid to be one of their better 2 way players. I would pick Kap over Jake at this stage. He can be deployed at will. But both are useful... Jake still was sat for game 1 of the play ins? And I know, he scored, had an assist when he had a crack at the top line the other day. Coach still thought enough of what he saw he was quickly back all the way down to the 4th line... Jake must still progress more before we don't have to be excited by that return.
  4. I don't believe Hughes actually took part in any of the testing? Just interviews. I take, probably too much, great interest in things like combine fitness testing. I was actually concerned...
  5. The problem is context. In a simple equation. You are making a pretty fair statement? The attitude to consider is the abuse the context itself could influence. Its unfortunately true that a great deal many more men get amped up by attitudes. Take it out on someone, a kid in the park, walking home from a club, their spouse? What they do is also often worse than just violence.
  6. LOL This mighta been more appropriate; Part of the reason you get in this mess Mike? Is ego. As if you and your dumb ass comments are bigger than the game. Where dyu get off?
  7. Boston, CDCPuck version, may have some work this summer as well... https://www.nhl.com/news/pittsburgh-penguins-likely-to-trade-goalie/c-318719286 Matt Murray or Tristan Jarry likely will be traded by the Pittsburgh Penguins prior to the start of next season, general manager Jim Rutherford said on Monday.
  8. @Azzy Was dropping Cap'n symbolic or somethin?
  9. Some news in the background looks good for us in Minny; https://www.nhl.com/news/pittsburgh-penguins-likely-to-trade-goalie/c-318719286 Matt Murray or Tristan Jarry likely will be traded by the Pittsburgh Penguins prior to the start of next season, general manager Jim Rutherford said on Monday.
  10. I definitely see the need for another RHD. My preference is Tanev. From other UFA's TJ Brodie is of interest, not sure we could afford? Vatanen I also have mild interest. But the best RHD on the market, for our situation? Is Tanev! Or in a big punt >> Byfuglien. I still prefer Tanev. I always thought Byfuglien. In spite of enormous talent? Was a headcase... Barrie I cannot see the fit. A PP specialist, who wont supplant Quinn Hughes. Who would require the Canucks to change their entire defensive structure. It might be fun. Hughes and Barrie. With Pettersson & some of our scorers. Like the Harlem Globetrotters. A fire wagon, free wheeling brand of hockey, 80's style! But we could sure take a sh!t kickin defensively...
  11. Its based on both. You retain 50%? You PAY 50% of the remaining salary. You can pay more than 50% by trading him after his start of year annual signing bonus. This summer that is quite a bit. Next year only a Mill by memory. And get a 50% of the real cap hit. Still only 50% if u paid his bonus.
  12. Last years date did not quite go as well to plan.
  13. Oh my head? Went on a bender with my team. A great Aussie tradition when you get punted from the post season... Next to sober up for Mad Monday when we play dress ups, after cleaning out our lockersl @Primal Optimist, you can be mt date for knocking us out? Uhm, err congratulations PO...
  14. You as well. Congrats to @Phil The Thrill on a well played series! I may need more luck than u think. I believed I could bank 24 players on play off teams at the deadline. 14 are already gone. I got an unexpected play in round from Adam Fox. A free game from prospect Lucas Carlsson. Which did not help me. Paveski Krejci Radulov Donskoi Paquette Black Ace Keegan Kolesar Sanheim McDonagh Chara Shattenkirk E Johnson Black Ace Bowen Byram Ben Bishop injured
  15. Look, I am a big KB3 fan. Not as big as many here? He can do no wrong! But two BIG things... Its representation. And on a national panel to boot. Well? Its about time. Kevin is the absolute first Canuck bleeding panelist I can ever remember? Point two, better yet Kev can hold his own! I don't share the opinion his analysis is better than other commentators. I enjoy that we get some bias to the Orca. I like references to our heroes, and our players in a positive light. I enjoy more, like others, that he is funny. For the record, he is no where near as outlandish as JR Jeremy Roenick. Or when Brett Hull is a guest on NBC. Kev is conservative, polished by comparison. But he is not made up, unique, ours. I think its a bit fair that he over represents. Its been a long time coming. He will learn to cater to more teams as his career progresses. Its also smart on Sportsnet. Only Matthews & McDavid hold candle to the respect Pettersson & Hughes are getting. But AM's has warts. Draisaitl, close, is revered, explosive but sloppy defensively by comparison. Horvat, although a tier lower is also being circled. Then Boeser another tier down. What is different about Captain Bo, and our wizards, is also two things; Horvat, Pettersson & Hughes in a hockey sense. Boeser at a personal level are all very like-able characters! They play defense, bust their ass. None are brash. Instead humble. Boeser inviting a Downs Syndrom girl to her prom. This is not Alex Burrows biting ears & Kesler, diving, suggesting in trash talk Kelly Backes should give him a call? Matt Cook being Matt Cook, Tiger Williams or Jarko Ruutu. Guys nobody outside your market would love. These are nice guys! The Canucks are a team on the way up. People will like them this time around. Can that said about Matthews, who mooned an Arizona female cop rather than accept a traffic ticket? Is that what the story was... Warts! Most importantly. Brilliant whipping his stick, Matthews back checks as hard as Monahan. Real commentators, even Flames & Leaf oriented ones. Are singing the praises of Petey battling. Hughes lugging minutes. Bo taking on Ryan O'Reilly man on man. No trash talk either. As much as their wizardy? They see championship material. Kevin helps them build the fans that already like the Canucks. They are going to be Canada's team!
  16. A man in charge at the top I see. Still one of his nations great athletes... I jest, I jest! I am curious how the match up's unfold. Play in's whacked a lot of planning.
  17. Well? I was sorta all in this year here in Puck. Then Montreal knocked Sydney Crosby into the lottery. Without Perron & Pietrangelo I might have trouble beating @Salter ? But yeah, It would not be too bad if I drew NYR's. 2knd round free pass...
  18. Eh Sh!t! It's not a money league. Go Canucks Go!
  19. With Pietrangelo & Perron on our Bruins? I feel a bit conflicted going into game 7.
  20. Big ol' Jet Airliner. Don't carry me too far away... The man deserves some credit? He pushes that nose out of its garage door. And out into public everyday...
