  1. I saw Madeleine Peyroux do this song in Montreal 20 odd years (a little less?) ago? Had no idea it was a Fats song.
  2. More Jazz, posted Fats before, the 2knd cut below specifically. Wow what a piano, first its misbehavin... So much fun! Passed away a few months after this 2knd cut...
  3. Oops. Missed International Jazz day... Salt peanuts, salt peanuts!
  4. Anyone play Jake Bugg on their playlist? Two step country influenced pom Indie artist. I drive, 3 hours a day. Still play my cd's over and over. I can play Jake till I'm broken. First two albums in particular among my fave of the last 10 years.
  5. A couple of mistakes. Not completely ''textbook?'' Including mistakes, at the time, I was enthusiastic about him making. But only mistakes in hindsight. I supported the Gudbrandson trade. I was not keen, but gave a pass to Sutter's aquisition. I would have preferred we acquired a D at that time. Over G Miller as well. I liked the Baertschi deal. I supported Juolevi's draft enthusiastically. I actually wanted Chychrun? But I was ringing the bell! Opposite end, I did not like Millers trade from Tampa. I have been proven wrong. Nor hot on Toffoli. Time will tell shortly? In the middle, I had no idea who Boeser was? But you have to evaluate the whole, not the parts. We are worlds ahead! People will enjoy hockey in Vancouver the next decade. He was fine. Had a bit of an abrasive personality. Wore his emotions externally. It made him dynamic in junior! Cost him some credibility & support to find his place in the pro's. Gain acceptance. Now that he has that? Some of the natural talents he always had are coming to the surface. Jake is also coming around, had maturing issues. Most do? I am over 50. Relearning some of these same lessons. I was never bothered by his trade. At the time we had center depth. Gaudette as a prospect, Bo finding his way behind Hank, beside (?) Sutter. We did need D. I believed he was expendable. Not because he was a bad egg, needed to mature? Because we had depth. I wish Guddy turned out better? But a trade for D was a good move.
  6. Kid is an uber athlete. Benning says from the top of the circles and down, in tight spaces, he's quick. He can jump into holes. I like your word; sturdy. I say explode into holes! His motor unbelievable. A pinball. Powers off guys & bangs into the next. Digs. Still has hand eye, endurance to make control moves. Tireless. He may not stride away from Quinn Hughes in open ice? Few, if any, D in the NHL will beat him from the wall, to the slot & back. With someone dogging him. I believe our best athlete? I imagine 2 years from now there will be times we see see: Hoglander / Horvat / Podkolzin. Could be the hardest working line in hockey? Podz also a tireless digger. Some quotes from posts earlier in the thread; So strong. Does not get bumped off the puck for a smaller guy. His compete level is through the roof, never quits on a puck. “When I protect the puck, that's my strength, not just stick-handling. I work out a lot, I'm pretty strong. But don't be scared to go there [tough areas]. I think I'll win the puck, and nothing else.” - Hoglander on his best attributes “My goal is to win, and I always love to win the puck, the battle. Don't be scared to go into the battle to win the puck. He plays a hard game, he's strong on the puck
  7. Swiss speedster, overage rookie last year. Yeah a funny name. Went permanently back to Edmonton's 4th line / 13th forward when Yamamoto arrived. A bit of a mismatched skill player not good enough for their 2knd line or 2knd PP. Gets thrown up the line up when some speed can do some damage. Could be displaced if they can find their Tyler Motte, suited to a grit game / 4th line role. Fun fact. He managed more games than Marcus Granlund for the Oilers? Just for a barometer if his level of player.
  8. 700 or 800 NHL players. 200 or 225 NHL D. Everyone was scared of jumpin in front of Janik Shea Weber's shot!
  9. Random thoughts? The lost season. I felt like Bobby Fisha. Always 4 moves a head a'. My competition, listen. They ain't gonna stop me eva'! Yup. I know. Drinkin at 8 AM insteada' Settin line-ups for puck like foreva'. Calling on all dumb posts while we wait for the season...
  10. OK? Way, way outside my normal hood genre'. I feel as large as biggie? I swear it could not get betta! I get a charge like biggie? Wearing that Cosby sweata... LMAO & O & O And it's all good!
  11. Another brilliant throwback style recording;
  12. Jessie J? I have always enjoyed her. So talented. But in doses as a lot of her stuff? Just is not my favorite genre'. This Domino you posted, covering her own tune in a jazz vibe, was just off the planet good. A great post, thanks! Here was my previous fave by Jessie.
  13. Kris Kristofferson's first big hit. Sung by Johnny...
  14. Yes you need to get out. Drive? Seems harmless. Touch the gas pump, scratch your ear. Pick up a chocolate bar that someone else has been fondling. Key your code onto the bank machine. How many are out for a drive? But are really on their way to their buddies for a drink. Get out sure. But the more restriction, the less spread. The more spread, and its coming? Get ready for tighter clampdowns. Italy, India, Wuhan all had complete shut downs. Lots of places in the states should have. Loose restrictions are hard to police. So many restrictions seem unfair. Your drive? Here in Australia. There are roadblocks. Have to prove you are on your way to work. On a direct route to the grocery store, your doctor. Not in the hills. Funny enough, that is where many of the roadblocks are. The people in your car have to have the same address on their drivers license. $1600 fine. Common sense applies, not every incident cops a fine. But they tell u to go home. It seems the same people get warned a lot. They get a fine. Get stopped and warned after a fine? They arrest you. Also funny enough? With tighter restrictions we have less spread. Grey area and mixed messages regarding what you can do = groups that decide to protest what they cannot do. Stay home. Or go for a walk. A bike ride. It sulks. Less people die!
  15. That is a fair sentiment. Here in Melbourne teachers, most anyway, are working at home. Were paid some time to prepare their classwork for online classes just before Easter break. And the kids now back at schoolwork, also from home. Roll call and everything, are responsible for all their work, attendance, homework. Still monitored by the same teacher. But some kids, kids of essential workers such as nurses? 5 to 15% of kids. Are at the school, social distancing, using the same online classwork. The state even funded a laptop of IPAD for any kid who could not afford. Which was the call of our state premiere. The Prime Minister, the national policy was that kids should go to school. But the PM acknowledged it was the responsibility & choice of each jurisdiction to manage schooling. Part of the ''stay in school'' initiative is based on the ability to support essential workers. Keep them working as there was an impending crush of sick people who would need their help? Grocery store workers, same. Two other cited reasons were the right of a kid to get their education! And the fact that kids themselves were so substantially less at risk. But of course keeping healthy essential workers in the workforce was a factor. But was acknowledged that Stage four would be a complete lockdown if we could not flatten the curve. But even in the states that are sending most kids? Every parent has the right to keep their kids at home. Any high risk teacher had the right to stay home, still be paid. For circumstance where older, or vulnerable for health reasons parents or grandparents, or anyone lives in the same home as a teacher or student? Had the same access to an IPAD & home schooling options, support. The govt. here, local, federal, and state all did a very good job! Only 4 reasons to be out of the house? Exercise outside if & only if distancing maintained. Shopping for essentials. Doctor or pharmacy visit. Work in an essential field. Groups of 2 maximum also. Move forward? And look back, Australia & New Zealand, partly with the being of being more remote & islands. Shut down their borders earlier, and harder than other countries. Brought our citzens back. Arriving back from oversea's or on a cruise ship? No self quarantine. Put up at a hotel, paid by the govt., under arm guard by the army for 2 weeks. No option! Were far more aggressive in enforcing distancing. Closed the state borders, re-quarantine 2 weeks to go to your home state. Closed all restaurants, bars, cafe's, shopping malls. Incentive package is picking up the wages of 6 million people, 1/2 the Australian workforce. For any business who cannot keep them working. As long as they re-employ them as we open back up? Nothing but take out food. My daughter had friends, 4 went and bought a pizza. Sat and ate it in a park. $1600 fine each! A Chinese restaurant had a guy order take out, eat it inside. $10,000 fine for the business! Without new cases circulating in from overseas? Australia has 12 new cases in a day. Under 100 overall deaths. Under 100 ICU cases in the entire country. So with the curve flattened. We are rumored to open up. Proviso that we will close back down again as soon as the virus starts, inevitably, to circulate again. With only 12 new cases in the entire country? I would feel very safe sending my kid to school at the moment.
  16. Only 12 new cases in Australia the last 24 hours. Down from a peak of 460 March 28
  17. Well? I don't perceive why we would want to trade Stecher. So it being an obvious key issue seemed odd. We currently have 3 NHL RHD. Tanev is UFA? Our Utica depth is untested. Losing Tanev & trading Stecher could leave us with one legit NHL RHD; Meyer.
  18. The CBA gives the players 50% of revenue. Individual contracts are just their own % of that pool of money against next years cap. Driven from this years revenue. Even just TV revenue for play off's will increase how much all players get paid next year. Players & owners alike are already taking a huge hit with their share of the loss of gate revenue.
