Aquilinni has had literally dozens of twitter posts in support of young team. And its direction. The development of the young players. Ascent of young stars! I have no doubt he would also prefer it hurry up. Likes the thought of play off revenue. Is the Miller trade a sign of that. Toffoli... But we traded Kevin Bieksa in 2015. First we replaced him with Matt Bartkowski & Tryamkin was called up at the end of the year. Tryamkin was a definite youth move! Biega, Canuck legend Alex Biega, played his first full year, 50 games anyway. Depth provided by Taylor Fedun & Adam Cracknell. Bieksèa cap went to Sutter, one of those support players. Clearly Bieksa was passed his prime. Nobody will EVER convince me they really intended to win with that line up. Matt bartkowski, at 26 with one NHL goal to his CV. A left handed minimum wage UFA was our 2knd pair right side D. I have no doubt Willie D choked on his chicken bones. In 2016 yes we added Gudbrandson. As the previous year did not spell still need to win. So much as it was wholly embarrassing. I applauded Guddy being acquired for that reason. And drafting Juolevi, signing Stecher. But I had no illusion we had fixed the D as many proclaimed. Posted as such at the time. We also replaced Bartkowski with Phillip Larsen. Gave waiver pickups Reid Boucher, Megna, Chaput & Jack Skille ice time. Gaunce a 4th line regular shift. Cramarossa... Me, I loved Megna! A sacrificial lamb who afforded us the chance to send down Jake. Cramarossa! Maybe we acquired Louie Eriksson in a bid to over support the dying window of the twins. Maybe, but I do not believe any hockey person of salt thought Cracknell, nor Phillip Larsen were legitimate players to underpin a team. I do believe Miller & Vrbata were acquired to give us a last hurrah two years earlier. I believe Eriksson was signed to score some goals. Unfortunate that he failed at it. Keep some excitement in the arena while we took our lumps. Avoid rock bottom! Which I, where tank nation guys disagree, support. Compete harder, make young guys earn their roles. Nothing, no dumb article, no CDC zealot will convince it was more.

That would look a whole lot better if Tanev were back. Inclusive, I dont see Rafferty as a top pairing guy. Talented! Bigger than I thought. On the wrong end of a lot of 2 on 1 breaks headed towards Dipietro. Caught up ice. Not polished in his D zone decisions or positioning. That was a better video highlighting DP than Rafferty TBH. -
Damn, that is exciting! But yes, unlikely...

Matt who? Voting Sundstrom. Nominate Hamhuis. My heart says Hansen, but Hamhuis was the better player,.

So the 3 day Sunbury pop festival? Sunbury is like Abbotsford to Vancouver. I have lived in both places, not that this fact is important. Urban legend has soo many stories here in Melbourne. Sunbury was Australia's ''Woodstock!'' Deep Purple & ACDC's roadies had a full blown dust up. Blinding rain. Artists not being paid. Peace love and happiness on the blankets in the fields? Psychedelia, drugs... And according to an older friend of mine, who swears she was there! I talked to her this week after our CDC chat here covered Billy. She is a huge fan. Said Queen got boo'd off the stage so Billy Thorpe could get on stage... I looked it up, seems there was at least some truth to it, if for different reasons; https://www.queenlive.ca/queen/74-01-27.htm Not sure this is the same date, but is a great live cut from Sunbury. Makes Elvis's version sound bad, blazing guitar!

Between Tanev, Toffoli, Markstrom UFA, maybe Pearson via trade? As well as cap dump bait Eriksson, Baertschi, some argue Sutter, Baegle, Stecher even (gasp) Meier. We will be losing at least two, if not four or five veterans. Nobody should be shocked if one is Toffoli! And as fans I do not encourage the fan pressure in Canadian markets which results in key players being overpaid. If Stecher and Tanev are gone? Cannot see both personally. It would, however, be a fantastic opportunity for Rathbone & Rafferty.

ELC's are never one way. But, primarily Euro's, negotiate out clauses. Where if they are not in the NHL they can return to Europe versus go to the AHL. Its a CBA vs world market problem They can sometimes get paid $400,000 or $500,000 tax free in the KHL or $200,000 in Sweden. Vs $80,000 or $85,000 as the minor league salary on their ELC. Plus be close to home, ride planes not a bus, etc.. Some are happy to develop in the AHL. Others don't think its such a good deal?

Anybody know Billy & the Azteks? When I moved to Australia he was on my bucket list to see, I planned a trip to Sydney but he passed away. This song is crazy good! Sings this a little like Burt Cummings? 60's Invasion stuff...

We were in a play off race. He may, probably would not have gotten in enough games to roll over the 1st year of his ELC. Or does it click as soon as he plays a game? Honest question... Sidebar, if he signs after May 20 next spring? His birthday. I believe at age 22 his ELC does not have to be so long. Another question?

He has to play two more years before he has the option of UFA. He's just a sophomore. It wont be a disaster if he does not sign this summer. He might though? Utica is not thaat that far from his family.

From port city Freemantle West Australia. My adopted home town. Reminds me of a band from N Saskatchewan where I also used to live. We used to watch at weekend events growing up;
