[Signing] Flyers sign Chris Stewart
Canuck Surfer replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I'll take Schaller. I've always been a fan, as much as he has been a whipping boy on CDC. Can kill penalties, has enough speed to be a 4th line fore-checker. Enough size to -play match ups/ Nothing ground breaking. Useful. Stewart, a slow guy who can handle the puck and fight does not interest me. -
Plus one. Its fun again! Wait till EP gets going!

Jack Hughes is still going to be a stud guys! He anihilated records put up by guys who will be hall of fame. And then there is the physical capacity. Slick, smooth, polished skills on a body with electric agility, speed. Vision, anticipation, deception. I can't disagree he may have been better served playing a year in college. I don't think its going to change the outcome? Too good...

Haw Ha! A brother with a top hat... , and he kills it!

Quinn Hughes is; > Playing 20 minutes a night, most of any NHL rookie > With Chris Tanev > Doing a high % D zone starts > Against high quality of competition And we're ending shifts in the offensive zone with possession & pressure. Sheltered?

Depending oin what the reason for Marky's leave of absence? I believe there are exemptions for some kinds of things.

A decent start by the Oilers, led by our D! 5 of our top 6 scorers are defenceman, including FOUR ahead of Patrick Kane in fantasy points. Kelfbom, Colin Miller, rookie Nic Hague all looking good as well. More forward fire power a concern. Starting goaltending being a broken crutch, Corey Crawford with zero points YTD.. Dahlin is the cats ass though? Absolutely lights out! Still about the future.

Elite Keeper League 2019/2020 -[4 GM Positions Available]
Canuck Surfer replied to Relyt Krets's topic in Fantasy Hockey
Oii, we're truly not firing yet! Prize acquisition Joe Pavelski 5 fantasy points. We did not expect to kill it? But we expected improve. If we keep going backwards, currently in 28th place? May have to blow it up. -
Wow! Brayden Point a fighting major? LOL, commentator > a ''bantamweight'' tilt. It was against Pageau who did throw some.

THN has Madden 25th among NCAA prospects; https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/the-top-100-players-to-watch-for-in-the-ncaa-in-2019-20 They do have Woo as the last top 6 D man for Team Canada. That's at the edge of first round. But not a TC lock; https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/an-early-projection-of-canadas-2020-world-junior-championship-roster They are currently over achieving their physical gifts. In of its own that is positive. Being compelling physical talents would be better. Madden the more accomplished, doing it against men in NCAA. Bounces off checks with the puck, using his balance and agility. Will remain to be seen if he can do that as a pro.

Hoglander has the elite athleticism. Upside in his skills. Un-guardable speed & strength. I'll buy that. Woo and Madden are displaying fantastic compete levels. Good results. Can make plays. Good prospects. Coaches will still have plenty of match ups to deploy against them who can handle them physically. Its not the same..

I cheer for JB as well. Believe he does a very good job. No hate whatsoever... You never agree with all moves. Generally the GM outperforms me as a critic. Which I accept. I liked Juolevi. We were both wrong. Tkachuk was a miss. I like Pettersson, drafted him in fantasy leagues. We were both right? I wanted to draft Nylander. No comment I never did think Jake was a bad pick though. The Canucks are improving. Its a great time to be a Canuck fan!

How is this close to anything but a win? Its not any immediate loss. I already disclosed that Miller = fair market value for the picks. It advances the rebuild. Which is a gain? We will be better, short term, no doubt! But we lose a 1st round pick & 3rd round pick. We lose $5 mill in cap space. We could have spent the $5 mill and still improved. Arguably not as much as having acquired Miller, but still the money would have been spent. That is what we do. Where the loss will be felt is in 3/4 years when Millers contract is expiring. And the draft picks would be arriving. And the draft picks we pick up interim are not as high. I am a believer in building through the draft. 4 & 6 years from now we will have less young players on ELC's to continue fuelling any run we go on. As to the odd's; the 1st round pick has about an 80% chance of being a 100 game player. Probably half that to being as good as Miller. I can get behind it. But it is not something I would have done.

The trade was a big risk. Remembering we had not signed Ferland nor Myers. We were not a slam dunk to make play off's. Still are not. I did not like the trade when it happened. I warmed up when JB made complimentary mobes, cough, Myers and Ferland. And I do appreciate he is trying to improve the team. I never questioned the actual value of the trade. Miller is worth the 1st round draft pick in the market. Never complained JB got bent over. I just would have played the longer game of developing by draft. Now that its done? I admit I'm enjoying the better team. I'm also happy we moved Miller up to the first line. He was always a better talent than Ferland. Petey needs, and deserves puck skill. And as a fan, I'm going to support the team.

When the trade happened? My comment was I was happy we managed to get something done. "Good under the circumstances, needed to be done'' or something along those lines. I had wanted to trade Lou, would have preferred to keep Scheids. But it was clear that wasn't working out.
