  1. Minnesota waives F Viktor Rask, will decide on buyout if clears, otherwise assign to minors Minnesota assigns D Madison Bowey, no waivers required. Minnesota assigns D Kale Clague no waivers required Minnesota recalls D Calvin De Haan from IR. @Nail If 23 man rosters are mandatory (don't believe so?) Recall also F Ryan Kuffner. If not mandatory, will decide on final roster body when I do opening day roster.
  2. Florida recalls D Steven Santini. Florida assigns D Kris Russell @Tylez Which will mean Russell, no trade in between, will be on waivers Oct 1. Anyone interested in Russell for a depth draft pick or to move a roster forward with similar salary $ 4 mill please be in touch.
  3. There are three key things; > He has a no trade list. > The teams that need him, aka perhaps the Leafs, would not have had the cap space to sign him. > He wanted a new contract part and parcel for any of the teams not on his list. Add to it, Anaheim, another rumoured suitor? Sulks. It narrows the list down to contending US based teams with cap space. Which leaves St Louis, and potentially San Jose if a forward contract could have been part of the return for Carolina. San Jose has Burns and Karlsson. So lets say they don't need Faulk. In a nutshell, a limited market.
  4. Nic Hague would have been a great pick.
  5. Definitely a thought! Would rather load up Markstrom, Roussel, Myers, Tryamkin for ED, sign Barrie. We wont come out that worse for wear if we lose one... We can also protect 4 forwards, 4 D; Pettersson, Boeser, Horvat & one of Miller / Ferland. Protect Tryamkin, Myers, Juolevi, Barrie? Depends how players are stacking up at that stage. But I would think you are right; expose Myers.
  6. The expansion draft would have been a conundrum? If they re-sign Hamilton. He is UFA before the draft. Not sure I buy that you can't pay a UFA, UFA money because an RFA broke out after he signed a deal xoming off a 20 point season.. I see it as a low budget team who did not want to pay him money because they are a low budget team. Or something. I think Faulk is a very good player. Bokk better be a heck of one...
  7. Not us. We haven't made any moves since we traded for Wennberg from you.
  8. Florida has a deeeep, if unspectacular D corps? Will move a D man. Seth Jones Sanheim Chara Vince Dunn Kris Russel Christian Djoos Madison Bowey Juuso Riikola But we do have prospect strength in Jake Beam, Steven Santini & Ty Smith on the cusp, Jesper Selgren making a legit push. Looking for a sideways move, D for forward of similar age ilk for Travis Sanheim or Vince Dunn. Quality counts as the return, these are good young D! Can move Kris Russel for a 3rd or 4th round pick, 10 team NTC applies. Can move Djoos or Bowey for a 2knd round pick, Riikola, a 3rd.
  9. https://www.nhl.com/news/seattle-2021-nhl-expansion-draft-rules-same-as-vegas-golden-knights-followed/c-302586918 All 1st and 2knd year players do not require protection. He would have only played 2 full years? But I believe the threshold for year counting is 10 games. He played 13 with us in 2015/16. Then all of 206/17. I believe as soon as he signs & passes 10 games in a new season he will be eligible to be selected / need to be protected. That could be as soon as the end of this year. Someone can (please, please) prove that theory wrong?
  10. Interesting! I wonder if it depends on when he re-signs? If he has completed more than 2 full years in the NHL, he should be eligible / need to be protected.
  11. Nail on the head > Boom Ya! (gotta watch this commercial, soooo funny!)
  12. Its 5 AM here. But sometimes you just need the, pounding beat to start. an electric voice rings out. the riff stroke... Me Make my backbone slide...
  13. That's awesome! Just as good to see the team in Abbotsford! I lived there once upon a time, long, long ago, now far, far away. I wonder if Cheers pub & if Esposito's brother, who had one as well just south of the highway, are still going? And also to see several of the players were out! I think that was Benn's mug?
  14. I like your point. It may in part be due to weather & taxes. Case in point Florida had to pay massive dollars, ala Luongo, to get Bobrovsky. Paid more than I would have for, particularly with our downhill experience in L Eriksson, for an older player like Strallman. But Tampa is also a top team & very well run. No reason not to like the program there? Buy in is obviously a factor that saw Tampa signing team friendly deals, sunny Florida without the rep, paying top dollar! Not sure I agree Marner is better? But different debate. Unfortunately, my opinion anyway, the fishbowl that is Canada puts undue pressure on our teams. I also believe that riots may have happened in Scarborough if Nylander was not signed? Is a factor that gives Matthews, Nylander, Tkachuk, Domi, Marner etc., etc., etc. more leverage in deals with Canadian teams. Its refreshing when a Benning has started to use the more global market realities to work with his players. He paid Sutter too much? Gagner… But has seemed to learn there is demand to play here, in spite of the pressure. Boeser, Myers, Edler, Ferland, all could be considered team friendly deals. Much like many American teams have shown they are able to make. Its also refreshing that Winnipeg has yet to dole huge deals to Connor with one hot year, Laine, with reasonable doubts & questions in spite of ridiculous goal prowess. That this sanity is starting to happen in Canadian markets? Leads me to believe a Canadian team may finally win a cup after, what, 30 years?
  15. Teams like Tampa, and cough Winnipeg in the past, have continually used RFA status as leverage to get mid $ contracts for stars done. Tampa, of course, have a better track record in re-signing them at the end of deals. Stamkos, Kucherov, Hedman...
  16. Pearson & Baer are the logical 2 guys fighting for the last top 6 role. With Ferland out? Baer has already played with Horvat and Miller. Scored a nice goal on a feed from Bo. We can load talent on the first line? Not that he is a BETTER hockey player than Ferland. But he is more skilled, agile, capable with the puck/ Baer can either add skill to a 1 track mind scoring first line? And have a bang and crash 2knd line with Perason, Bo & Miller. Or add a skill player to the 2knd line, with Pearson being a banger / puck winner glue guy. Its also probably a test to see if Pearson is still a top 6 winger just as much as it is for Baertschi... Yes I heard that too... Baer, in theory, should beat Goldobin out of a job? But right now he has to show it. This is obviously an audition for that. One he could pass or fail... Goldy has not been lights out either. Still no finish. But his effort has improved.
