  1. LE has been paid a $4 mill bonus already & has only $1 mill in salary left. LOLOL, That is actually $1 mill in free money for Ottawa. Plus the $3 mill they save on Boedkers salary. Melnyk is just wing nut enough to do it... (but I don't think it works that way, can only retain 50% of the $1 mill salary?)
  2. FAQ owns the arena in Abbotsford. This one game might pay for its yearly costs? I'm sure I read it was extended... Motte, Fantenburg & Eriksson on that list. My guess. But they waived Gagner last year, which surprised me? Asset manage Gaudette to Utica. Real loser Goldobin. Not a loss Schaller.
  3. Newtons law... Spoons also involved in the courtship?
  4. Be fair? Yes we receive large shares of income streams in Canadian dollars. But we also get US tv dollars; the pillar, cough, of our favorite tactician Gary Bettman. Some of the original 6 US teams, NYR's, Detroit are big $ revenue teams. But Montreal and Toronto are the leagues highest earners, and consistently do so. Vancouver and Calgary have often beat Boston to be the 5th peg in top 5 revenues in the NHL. Vancouver has generated routinely 3 & 5 times the annual revenue of teams like Florida, Carolina, Arizona.
  5. I think this is a great bridge deal. A BRIDGE deal at $5.25 mill for the 1st year. Even 3 years ago that would have been seen as massive inflation. But he did score 90 odd points and steal the top line C job from Stamkos... Still? The $4.25 mill signing bonus is double his career earnings to date! I agree with @oldnews. These type of deals, in advance of any $50 mill deals are very intelligent. Sets the team up to sign him through his prime. Where a Taveres walks at age 26? Plus the cap hit makes it work for the team.
  6. Add Quinn Hughes as another signature set up man to Petey? And better health coming into the year! I believe 40 goals is within Brock's capacity.
  7. Does not really matter much. The ring and how its presented can maker her feel special. As long as she says yes! Feels special with you regardless. That's what is important. Hope you have yourself a great girl.
  8. Is he? His 14 minutes a night increased to 15 when he moved to Pittsburgh. And his goals per 82 games if he stayed at that role? Would be equivalent to 24 per year. But 15 minutes a night is hardly suggesting the coach has massive trust & is going to increase his role in a scoring capacity. So much trust they traded for Galchenyuk & Kahun as wingers. My observation is he probably has been bumped to the Penguins 3rd line, and back to the checking role he had in Florida. Unless he cleans the ice of those boys, I'd say he is tipped for 15 goals. He has every chance to have a Brandon Sutter career if he improves. But may struggle to stay relevant.
  9. Careful who you laugh at? Same team who picked Pasternak the very selection after we picked McCann. Who drafted Charlie McAvoy outside the top ten. Where was Marchand drafted? Pretty successful team. Even if those three picks were not their best.
  10. I really did like that 18 year old kid yesterday, Tobias Bjornfot. And Turcotte will be great! They do have some good prospects, Akil Thomas had something like 230 points in 190 OHL games.
  11. Who did LA graduate last year. Expect to be as good as this : Pettersson or Hughes or Boeser calibre freshman. The LA pool is ''deep'' because guys we passed on, like Gabe Vilardi, are still prospects.
  12. Its fun to pick on the fat kid at school too,,, ie kick the Jets when their down? But If Winnipeg is not a contender? He certainly wont make them one! Why do they pay anything for Tanev. Tanev is 30 and misses 30 games a season, Nor has their GM ever panicked and overpaid for quick solutions that are not that foundational. His value is as a veteran pick up for a play off team. Offer Winnipeg Stecher, the rights to Tryamkin. Hell, offer them Jett Woo or JUolevi. They are a young team. They will want a solution that re grows with their team.
  13. Does ABNuck not stand for Alberta Canuck? Honest question... Move to Edmonton from Winnipeg? I have done it. Winnipeg is pure colder in winter true. But I take it anyway. Winter arrives 5 weeks earlier in Northern Alberta, Give or take 20th October & leaves 5 weeks later. And summer as well. It rarely gets above 22 degree's.
  14. I used to play round ball against a Perry Scarlett. Black Panther deadly, just as quick...
  15. You do realise that Tanev even in his, cough, prime? Did not command what CDC hoped? There is no Taylor Hall for Tanev in our past. Nor for Ehlers, in our future. Tanev has averaged 50 games & 11 points the last 3 years. As an injury prone D man, he'll also be 30 at the deadline. Maybe if he stays healthy, Maybe? At the deadline if he is playing 23 minutes a night. He might creep up to a second and a 4th. Don't hold your breath... Bieksa commanding a mid 3rd round pick is a likely comparable IMO.
  16. Its a neat comparison. You would be hard pressed to call Ferland as effective as a Burrows in his prime. He killed penalties, fore checked and hawked passing lanes like a demon. Came over the boards flying. Back to the bench with a blood nose after a board battle he would not give up on. Pure effort really, as he was not superhuman fast. Then could trade pucks in a cycle almost matching Sedinery magic. A jack of all trades! But there is a way to deploy Ferland that many coaches would still grab his stick out of the pile. A harder match up for opposing teams. And he plays as hard! One that makes me happy to watch the Canucks this season.
  17. ELC slide selections; Nicholas Halloran Dylan Samberg Jakub Galvas @Nail with thanks
  18. I agree on Motte. Bet you a wooden nickel Biega is waived. And Schaller also waived, assuming no other forward hurt. And Biega will be back within 2 or 4 games. Is he, what, 31 years old? 4 career goals??? He'll go screaming through. If he gets picked up we still have Brisbois, Sautner, maybe even Juolevi, Chatfield to call up.
  19. #assetmanagement send Gaudette down? Motte has to be added. He's jumped into the lane to receive some passes in the slot. For good scoring opportunities, more than once already.
  20. You may not have lived through it? In Van back then or other cities. The dollar is 0.75 cents atm, was 0.68 / 0.65 at that time. The P & E used to be 1/2 empty, GM place when it opened was not full either. Nor was it last year, 1/3rd empty the 2 & 3 yers previous. I have lived Edmonton, Winnpeg, Calgary & Vancouver. Seen games in all. Its an observation I feel is fair. Rogers is great fun when we're winning. It beats a lot of US markets in bad times. But its not the same as other Canadian cities. Nor do they riot when we lose? There is a gloom over the city & fans stay away.
  21. Not going the way of the buyout with Derrick Brassard. We are going to back him in, like all our players. For at least one more year, he'll have 1 year of term left then. Taking our lumps, and even taking on bad contracts has paid for itself, resolved itself for us in the past. Mackenzie Blackwood was a trade chip offered us for taking on a contract 3 years ago. One we managed to flush, even milk a few meagre points from as we rebuilt. So we're taking the patient approach!
  22. It was really Smashian's view. I'm in nether / nether land on it. I was more or less agreeing with Bennings position of letting him earn a job at camp. I'd prefer to see Goldy win the job, than say Schaller? Less in need of the physical btoom 6 guy than this time last year... But we only need one forward to be injured above and beyond Roussel. And nobody has to go on waivers. Perhaps Biega?
  23. From the outside looking in, might seem sh!tty to some? I see potential this is depression. Not feeling good, not feeling good! Go get help, or ???
  24. Well, yes... ie I don't disagree we should trade Goldobin for a 3rd if we could. Don't really agree either. I'm neutral. Ask @aGENT ? We debated that #assetmanagement might have suggested we should trade, say, Brendan Leipsic last pre-season? I fussed when we lost Frank Corrado a few years ago. Originally, I thought it was terrible? Really, we did not have any RHD prospect depth. But I came to realise, like with Motte, that if guys were looking like NHL players? Benning and crew were smart enough to keep them. So I stopped worrying about the guys on the edge of the team. Benning see's, mid summer position anyway, and he has said as much >>> He wants them to come to camp & see where they are at! If Goldobin looks like an NHL player, Schaller, Eriksson, even Leivo or Baer could find themselves on waivers. The best players will make the team. He also saw fit to give him a contract. So I suspect he believes he's currently worth a 3rd round draft pick? Benning lines mid round draft picks up, retreads from other teams, one, all, old, young, no different; see Leipsic, Pouliot, Phillip Holm, Matt Bartkowski, Lindon Vey... Chucks 'em in a blender & see's who wins a roster spot. Goldy is no different.
