I've managed Robert Pant at festivals. With Bonnie Raitt once. Never seen the Stones or Zep. Had tickets in Perth a few years ago for Mick & the boys. They cancelled, sadly, when Mick's wife passed away a day before the show. We had moved by the time they made it back. I still have my fingers crossed.

Rose & The Screaming Jets played the local hotel a few km's up the road from our house 2 weekends ago Here in Melbourne. Its the 3rd or 4th time they have played, Dave from the Jets also does gigs with the Angels. I really enjoy the Jets! They play here every winter, before gearing up for oversea's tours. Its at least the 3rd time we've had the chance to see them. We get them, James Reyne & Australian Crawl, Ross Wilson from Mondo Rock, Sunnyboys, The Church, like Regina gets the Queen City Kids, Winnipeg gets Burt Cummings... We're going to see Noiseworks, same joint next month. I'm not a huge fan of Angry. He has some off politics & views. Spews things loudly & with no remorse But it always makes for a raucous show. The concerts way better than albums. Then he comes out and sits in the crowd, has a beer. Talks to everyone! My wife gave him and earful. He just thinks its fun. Not a shy bone in his body. https://www.sbs.com.au/news/insight/tvepisode/go-back-to-where-you-came-from_1

There are ways to deal with it? Put em on waivers. No cap cost if they get picked up...

The groove armada ain't got much on old stones? (I do like GA) Being an old fluck, I have albums from the seventies, cd's I bought working in a record store 35 years ago. I'm a collector. Sticky Fingers being the epitome of the Stones, grunge Seattle could call its phoenix. Honky Tonk on that album is even better than the most popular studio version. There are sounds, as musicians, the Stones coax out of creaking instruments that is truly magnificent. Will get you jammed up, as many times in a row as you can listen to the album. My three fave's from; Can't you hear me darlin... She kissed me down low. My heart started beating like a big bass drum!

Wowee! Two teams have knocked back THREE 1st rounders as offers for a key player. 2knd and top pair D men have also been negotiated, not moved. Yet? But we did trade our best player Leon Draisaitl. And earlier this off season our 2knd best player John Gibson. In an all in assault at trying to come better than 3rd in the Atlantic. Boston is proving we have put up solid value offers, taken & knocked back as a trade partner this summer. More applications required...

[Signing] Hurricanes sign Jake Gardiner
Canuck Surfer replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I upvoted your earlier post just below. Had a very similar post the page before. And I agree, its a pretty darn good signing by Carolina. But I believe there is a plenty of reason to debate this line of thinking that he is better value than Tyler Myers. Its like comparing two football defensive players, when one is a safety, the other a coverage defensive back with pure speed. Yes Gardiner's feau pas are overstated. They were similar to problems Edler, Hamhuis & many players / teams have had over the years. There are so many left handed D, not so many right. Just the nature and maths of left / righty in society.Particularly two years ago for Gardiner. The Leafs had no top pair RHD, period. And Rielly is better, so Gardiner played his off side. And against tough match ups on the top pair. Was then crucified for making mistakes. Just like Edler, and when he was really struggling Hamhuis, for Tortorella. When we had no RHD (Tanev injured) & Torts liked Garrison as our top LHD for his shot. Edler lead the league in minus. On your off side, you rush to the puck on your backhand to clear it, with your back to vision of open lanes. Its a turnover waiting to happen, unless you are fast enough to the puck you can clear it without forward pressure. Many, Many, good D struggle with LHD on their off side! Its more an indictment of the Leafs having to play Gardiner in a position to which he was not suited. I personally, for 5 plus years, had dreamed of a D like Gardiner. Who consistently beats checks at the blue line, to walk into passing lanes and create offensive havoc. Which is what he is very good at! And competent defensively, if you can shelter him from top match ups in the defensive zone. But here is the thing. He is well above average, but not world beating. This is Christian Ehrhoff 2.0, a fair comparison IMO. Gardiner is good, not an all world talent. Gardiner is just above average. Would he run our PP better than Edler, yes I think so!. But he's not going take Edler's heavy defensive minutes. And we just signed rookie Quinn Hughes, to do, more or less, exactly what Gardiner is good at. Hughes looks as he will be even more dynamic at it, single best skater in his draft. So there is not a natural role for him with us as a left handed D. And as much as we like his offense? He was going to play his off side instead of Myers. And while I don't disagree Myers is not a top defensive D either? I like 6'8'' Myers defensively on his strong side. Better than Gardiner on his off side any day of the week! If Edler had moved on, Gardiner was the best LHD available. He would have been high on my list. Once Edler was signed, not any priority. I like the RHD in Myers. Who can still chip in 25 to 40 points by, Edler style, rotating the puck effectively as a passer. Smart enough to step into gaps where he fits to improve angles, and unleash a big shot. That he does it as a right handed D is rare. Which is why he got paid. And gives us size, functional defensive play, and offense in a RHD. A much better fit. Mentioning again, I Upvoted & agreed with this post. -
In Minnesota Derrick Brassard is available for a late draft pick? As late as purchaser would like!

Cut it out, geez whiz. Don't you realise I'm trying to catch up? I feel like Milan Lucic on McDavid's line... Hey Connor! Wait for me, wheez, at the blue line, puff, why don't you? We'll do great things!

[PTO] Landon Ferraro with Canucks
Canuck Surfer replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Maybe he knocked out Shea Weber in a leshabitant pre-training camp tilt? (he's a 5'9'' 160lbs Montreal 7th round forward prospect...) Anything is news in Montreal, even more so than on CDC. -

CDC could have their wish, prodigal son draft pick back for free??? I like Biega as much as the next guy, but? Forsling would help us as an 8th D man... -

Think Pears has it. He is better than Fleury & Van Rymsdyk. Gives them some solid depth on the left side. I don't see the trade as automatic though in the context of LHD. Just buys Bean some time, who inevitably will take over 2knd pair / 2knd PP. You can do worse than have a $4 mill 3rd pair D. Buys them some depth as a whole to get their sh!t together in case / or when Faulk walks next summer. Might cost them Forsling on waivers. But keeping all of Pesce, Faulk & Hamilton seems more attractive if they can pull it off? I think only Buffalo can rival it for RHD in the NHL? -

Just how did those two clowns hide their chin's in that selfie? Is that Patterson? Wow, that nose! He must have beaked off at Tortorella one too many times... -
Big trade for us in Boston. With thanks to @Peaches and Leon who was our best player. Always a huge risk giving up a 100 point / 50 goal player in his prime at 24. But the return is relative, some fantastic blue chip parts also coming back our way. We made this trade because, as we project things, it could help us get out of the 1st round. It was all about play off potential. We want to win this year! But does afford us some flexibility in cap to rotate players & sign our free agents at the end of the year. The real risk is when Benson, Bouchard and Broberg hit real life Edmonton, Draisaitl & McDavid could go on a four year play off tear. Where SJ may be nearing the end of their window. We hope SJ, with Karlsson & Burns has another year, maybe two in them? It will certainly be deflating if Edmonton makes play off's this year... Also an interesting shift in youth. Valimaki, Byram, Fox, we also have Kylington and numerous next level D prospects, gives us an unreal future from the blue line out. Thanks to the execs for processing.

LOL. and I was pro the Guddy acquisition, when it happened. With the aid of hindsight, would rethink the Baertschi deal I supported as well as well. >>> Rasmus Andersson -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Goldobin, 1 year/900k

That sounds logical? (It does.) My take suggests Yamamoto will spend more time developing. He almost stuck with the Oilers his draft year. Crisis averted, they did not toss him in too soon, as they had others. Benson, however, in particular has already played very well at the AHL level. He looks a very reasonable bet to make the Oilers, and play an important role. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/154220/tyler-benson -

Great signing. I said in another thread how easy it is to like Goldobin. He has stated time & again he wants to be here. Could have done worse for himself. Its nearly a million bucks in guaranteed money. And with arbitration rights? Likely to get anywhere from $1.5 to $2.5 next summer. And your point is???
