  1. I had the same, but with Hughes / Tanev as the 2knd pairing. Edler Myers Hughes Tanev Benn Stecher Fantenburg I like yours better I think? Look forward 18 months Hughes Woo Think bangin & crashin, skatin Woo...! Tryamkin Myers Gigantasorous 2knd pair Edler Stecher Brisbois Benn
  2. Yes, they roasted themselves with those picks. They had done their own mini rebuild including trading Looch, getting one of those firsts. But they made up for it other years. They drafted Charlie McAvoy 14th overall 2016. A strong argument can be made he is the best D that draft year. And can laugh we picked McCann the pick before they selected Pastrnak. Pastrnak is one of the greatest picks in the mid 20's of the 1st round ever.
  3. You already get my vote for next year Capn!
  4. Baertschi is young? 26 is still prime aged, if not a prime performer...
  5. I'll take Svech. All things considered. Who knew? Among Aho, Juolevi, Laine & Puljujarvi; Aho would be the hands down best player... Something rotten in all of them except Aho?
  6. Could Ottawa not just put him on IR?
  7. Call me Mrs doubtfire. I don't believe Teves in particular, or Rafferty have much of a shot. They cleverly bring mature aged players, with a puck moving play style, without having to take up Utica veteran roster designations. To help compliment our actual developing players. You are only allowed so many veterans per game...
  8. Sergachev may be pushing it, top ten lottery pick is a definite stretch. Ig Pulji is not living up to top ten hype, why would a team offer it? I don't see fire sale. Just my opinion. Of course every rabid CDC nutter is offering that a resurrection of Keith Ballard will do it? But I do see the next level as what it will take. Jake Bean? Reunite Pool party and Sebastian Aho... I bet Buffalo would be a very natural trade partner. Some minor cap adjustments, and they could offer Ristolainen.

  10. Granlund is nowhere near that agile, has not that power.
  11. Just on a fun note? I never liked Shinkaruk. I was neither for, or against his move out. Because I had not been tracing Granlund. But I my observation of Shinkaruk at his first summer camp said he did not take full fitness seriously. With arms that looked like Pettersson at draft age could cut him in half. I made numerous posts in the Shinkaruk thread even at draft age wondering if he was serious? I never had the same feeling about Dahlen.
  12. I liked him! My take; I drafted him 5th round in my fantasy pool. A value pick. Live, a day before SJ picked him 3rd round. Not when we traded for him? NHL size, skills. Plays all parts of the game, can PK, take match ups. Got into some SHL games his draft year as a role player 17 years old. Which says a lot. Big goal scorer in junior with a nice shot. Good work ethic on and off the ice. Needs speed to ''make it'' was the word, had the rest. Saw him as a safe, but unspectacular prospect. A shot at a 3rd line NHL'er... About what you would hope for in that circumstance? Real goal, any player who makes it...
  13. Megna, agreed! Who ever believed we were not in a stealth tank??? Megna bought our prospects an extra year to develop. Sacrificial lamb when we could not afford a Beagle...
  14. None TBH. Markstrom next summer, or this year. All depends on Demko. That's what I project anyway. This player had by far the biggest variables, and value among. Could easily outlast this conversation. Sutter will have his contract played out. Summer 2021. If they keep Markstrom, they may buy him out next summer. Tanev at the end of this year. It might actually be a blessing if we're not in the play off hunt. We can get Millers first back at the deadline? But summer is my prediction, UFA. Baer will probably also play out his contract. I see him as good 3rd liner, who cam play top 6. More speed and skill than Granlund. Might be the guy, with Jake & Gaudette, that gets a 3rd line quasi productive. His contract ends summer 2021, 2 years from now. Eriksson next summer to Ottawa. After bonuses of course... Markstrom or Tanev leaving, most likely, opens up room for a Tyson Barrie contract next year. Which then leaves an obvious Q as how we handle exposing Myers to Seattle. But a worthwhile tradeoff IMO. Add cap from Eriksson, crosses fingers, and we actually have room to manoeuvre?
  15. All fair cup. Very. Jake scored 43 goals, had wicked speed in his draft year. Never seen it since. The goals that is. Which also reflects your point about hype & expectation. All I was saying? Look to the raw athleticism. Jake still has a job in the NHL on that basis. Which was predictable. Funny enough, I made a very similar observation his draft year. The athlete would translate if the rest did not? This kid is an even more noticeable freak of nature, by a good margin. Which is saying something. As is demonstrated compete level. It really has not much to do with ''video's.'' But that he will have capacity to outcompete most NHL athletes in all the battles that take place. I am saying it gives him a very high floor. Of course just my opinion. Cheers!
  16. Seeing as I'm in the Austin Powers era? Here is some daggy, groovy baby stuff. (I did say daggy? Bad is bad... )
  17. He's 18. Eighteen... That should always be the case. With the exception of the one to three truly elite players each year... Nils played the entire year, starting at 17, against 20 & 24 year old men in Swedens best league. Tempered expectations? They did say he kept up speed & physically. Had trouble scoring, vision, using other players at that level. But was not a liability. Still managed 6 or 7 goals, as many assists. Probably digging in, and cutting to the net as we saw in those drills. I expect he'll double that this year. He'll carve up younger comp at the WJC's. But it will be interesting to see if his hockey sense tunes back in against players his own age? What I can say? That type of agility and strength on the puck, control, sheer power, endurance is ridiculous! He'll feast on puck battles. Hockey sense, instinct no, but that athlete is Crosby, Mackinnon stuff. I don't have to temper any projection that there will be a place to deploy him effectively in the NHL. Nils Hoglander wont lose too many races to the biscuit. He may not have the advanced instinct & hockey processing (yet). Raw athletic skill is off the charts! Looks like Arvidsson to me.
  18. Cruel Summer this boom boom remix... (bonus points for the first to connect the links...)
