  1. Goldy straight up would be a good deal? Honka has, honestly enough, struggled even more than Goldy. But it would fill a particular area of need. Worst case, he tides us over till Jett Woo arrives at right D. Best case, his extra agility and puck skills compared to, say, Pouliot?? Buy him enough rope he can figure out reading NHL speed making plays. Learn to handle the larger, stronger forwards he encounters on defence.
  2. What we want from Dallas is Julius Honka. One last reclamation project? Before we have no room for such things...
  3. The comparison was Sutter being on the laundry list of CDC wet dream trade returns that never happened, never will.
  4. Was looking back at our 2018 draft. Which was a blur past Rasmus Dahlin for us... This stood out to me, picks 68 through 70. Three GREAT value picks one after another. Kiril Maksimov as an overager missed the previous year also went late in the 3rd. I slept on him, but had no picks & was drooling over these guys; San Jose Niklas Nordgren Dallas David Gustafsson Vegas GK Alexander Khovanov I was also doing backflips looking for picks in the 4th round. I did find one & get Ivan Morozov #122, which we think will work out great. But we were looking for Filip Johansson, who got picked #114 while we were still begging. Then Oskar Back while we waited our turn.... Some great picks for some teams!
  5. I like Goldy. He wants to be here. Takes his lumps.
  6. So. At what point did you decide moving the 1st place team was logical in and among? Or consult the teams. If you did, we would never have volunteered to take that on. That is not clarity. I am sure everyone meant well. But it was never right. Nor are the divisions balanced. We were a team on the rise, as was Florida. Now the projections show a 1st place team in the Metropol might be a wild card here. That's not equal. Now or then. And I'm I'm completely lost as to why balancing it now is unfair to anyone. Carolina was always a Metropol team, as in real life. I could vote for a conference alignment of play off's when Seattle comes on board. For now, the bend should go the other way.
  7. Your sense of moral is touching. Your point also remains conflicting. Carolina was the first place team at the time of the move. Still is. We copped that, but its ridiculous for them? Explain how that rates according your registered meter of fairness? If we had taken on Pitt, the next year they were the 3rd place team in the Metrpol with 5000 points. They would have been the 3rd place team in our division. With 5000 points. In our opinion that would have been fair. We ended 400 points almost ahead of Pitt. But instead we were the 3rd place team. And absorbed heavier match ups. That is how it worked out. It does not matter? Nobody ever asked us. What we propose now, is a team that would be 4th in their division. That would be 4th in ours. And Carolina should always have been there. Perfectly just. Nobody should ever have dumped a first place team in our division. The more I have to argue it, the more it frustrates me.
  8. Unbiased, or unaffected? The match ups were impacted. Which is a fact, not a matter of opinion... Is it fair to Metropol teams this year? No less fair than the last two years.
  9. Or put Chicago in the Metropol? Which gives Winnipeg a fair shot. Amirite… That might be overstating it. But its popping a division winner over. I played Inane the last two years in the first round because of the realignment. I remain steadfast that people are missing this. Or living with it because it does not affect them. That's what would have been fair then. And funny enough, I am proposing being more fair in repairing the problem than was the case when it happened. Detroit is projected as a good team! Also resets divisions as they are in real life. There are a lot of reasons this should happen.
  10. They can sign Riley Sheahan for 1/2 of Sutter's 50% retained salary. He is 3 years younger than Sutter. Do Devente Smith Pelle to a PTO. Not give up a recent lottery pick doing it. It is a dumb proposal Sutter for Puljujarvi. Dumb is dumb. We never got a first round pick back for Keith Ballard. Nobody traded us Taylor Hall for Chris Tanev. This wont happen either.
  11. I don't disagree. But Goldy wants to play in the NHL. Has not signed in the KHL. Is willing to win a spot in camp. I do believe he played well enough, has enough underlying talent we should bring him to camp. After that its up to him!
  12. Divisions as a whole, yes? Pacific tightest, with 5 potential play off teams. I realise the Metro move for Carolina was made when they potentially had 6 play off teams? That was then. Boston, we have been 1000 points clear of missing the play off's the last two years. But the 6th place Metro team was not shifted. Carolina has won the Atlantic each year since the move. Should never have happened. Dumping a division winner in the Atlantic is the part that was not fair! Nobody popped a 5000 point team over. Absolutely impacted who has played into the 2knd round & beyond. So, current potential has the top 3 teams in the East in one division. 3 of the top 4 teams in the league. And an average Metro team an almost free run to the conference final. While potentially the 3rd and 4th best teams in the league would play in the opening round? What I am proposing ATM, hurts no ones chances at making play off's. The only pendulum shift would be a good balance for play off rounds, for division rivalries. It should be fixed please. Should not need a debate.
  13. They made the point, countless times, that we will be better? But then carried on like bananas, that we would be stuck in the middle. Came up with a conclusion that we would move up from 81 points to 85. That's a couple of lucky bounces. Not better (which we will be)?
  14. Central is easily the best division in hockey. i have Dallas & Nashville ahead of cup champs St Lou who have not lost anyone. Maybe Colorado as well who have kids of talent. But a bit raw. Winnipeg will drop on loss of D. But is still to good, just my opinion, to fallout of the post season. I have 5 mid west teams in play off’s. Calgary & Vegas as Favorites in our division. We have to beat SJ. Pettersson, Boeser and Hughes have to be better than Burns, Karlsson and Meier. I like our chances over time. Burns is amazing. And Karlsson can still fly. I’m nervous about this year. It’s a lot to expect Petey to be a better play driver than Burns so early in his career. But I’ll be cheering...
  15. I agree with this whole heartedly. NYI's managed to burst through last year on good coaching. And weak opposition. Carolina also made it through... Washington went out in the 1st round. And they're not spring chickens. Ovi will be 34 by puck drop, Oshie 33 early in the season. Holtby will be 30 this year, Backstrom 32. Carlson 29 is probably their best play driver still in his prime. But they don't have a strong supporting crew on D. Therefore, IMO, vulnerable. Unless you include Kuznetsov? Who is cheesed off Mike Richards & Jaret Stoll were too old to participate in the WC's? Nor do they have a strong prospect group to lift the team. Tom Wilson has his role, but its not ground breaking... Pitt may have one year left in them??? But I could easily see Philly, NJ, and even the NYR's knocking all these teams out of the play off's. These guys are on the way up. Those other teams? Carolina may have a whisper. Isles have to wait for more D prospects (which they have). Otherwise, not so much...
  16. Quinn Hughes maybe? Boeser is also much better than a complimentary offensive finisher. Quietly more dexterous at handling the puck than anyone other than Petey and Hughes. Capable of zone entries. Handling the puck in tight. Holds the puck out wide, shielding opposing D, or forwards, it matters little as he's solid. From poking at the puck. And glides across zones, in front and behind traffic, creating angles to shoot or pass. Watch him on the PP, he does it all the time! He is not lightning quick, an ankle breaker. He just beats checks far more often than given credit for. Too little credit for Boeser also.
  17. Should we sign Hutton to a $1 mill / season show me contract? Or should we save that extra roster spot for Olli Juolevi... Edler Myers* Hughes Tanev Benn Stecher Fantenberg To me the most interesting discussion, is not Miller & Ferland, its our D. The forwards are simply beter, and more physically capable. Our D? Looks better defensively & offensively. If we can use the change to create an up tempo game? Unleash Hughes & let him run! IMO it may be the single biggest determinant of both our future? And the now... Will Hughes grab Edlers top PP job? I actually prefer Tanev on our top pair IL of Myers. But its more danderous like this if we play a more offensive game? And we can shelter QH with Chris Tanev.
  18. This! And JB has said as much as well! Said so last year. And the year before. And the year Jake was sent back to Utica. Only in McCann & Virtanen's first year did they seem to reserve spots. That was 6 years ago...
  19. We have an expression in our family. When our kids ask for something they know they're not going to get? No problem, next week Thursday... (Fat chance in hell?) In Jesse's case its a fortnight away?
