  1. If you let me change my mind will go with Neil Pionk. @Master Mind
  2. Attention! All here and accounted for, sir!!! G Connor Hellebucyk D Ryan Ellis, Jacob Trouba, Rasmus Ristolainen, Mikhail Sergachev, Ryan Murray F Reilly Smith, Alex Radulov, Mika Zibanajed, Viktor Arvidsson, Mike Hoffman, Ryan Nugent Hopkins Really struggled over selecting Ryan Murray. But it is what it is; selected! Apologies to everyone's mother If I spelled a name wrong.
  3. I managed Brady Skjei, essentially for Tyson Jost off SV? Which appears will probably be a win. Until you factor I could have traded him for Jack Hughes from @Art Vandelay... (It's MM who was the death of me in trades.)
  4. We paid Brendan Gaunce $800,000 last year. We paid Reid Boucher $725,000 last year. This year, with some prudence, he's back on a 2 way deal.
  5. Same problem as Jake or Juolevi. He was an 8th overall pick. The belief is that calbre of draftee is much more projectable as an NHL player. And sooner than guys drafted 23rd overall? By memory, the start of draft plus three is the accurate statistical average for a pick in the range of 5the to 10th overall? Does anybody know the stat? So this is the start of draft plus 4. If not ready, it would be normal for him ''to be busting down the door?'' His draft plus one was actually pretty good. Hovering around 30 AHL points. But he has followed that up with hovering again around 30 points, draft plus 2 & draft plus 3. Not done great in international tourney's. His performance is not poor IMO? But it has stalled. I would not have traded a prospect who has looked dynamic for him. Like Jokiharju has IMO.
  6. Even on a bridge he should earn a lot more than $1 mill. From the outside looking in? It appears someone asked to take a mill because they still had to sign 3 more players to fill out their line up. And he signed it without getting any advice. 20 points as a rookie two years ago. in 55 Games. 40 points last year. 56 points this year. Labanc has helped their team. Arvidsson at $4.25 mill was about the first comparable I could think of when he signed his deal 2 years ago. We pay guys like Hutton $3 mill on show me deals. Sbisa around $4 mill to buy a year or so of UFA years (no one else wants). Its out of whack!

  8. Bowman has a history, with his own fan base, of delivering Stanley Cups. That holds back some angst. Plus there is always more angst in Canadian markets over moves. Fan pressure overwhelms common sense. In waves that bowl their own teams & their GM over.
  9. You are an appreciated poster. There was another Hawks supporter who spent a few years here. Forget his name? He was slightly exciteable in his appreciation of moves by the Hawks. (Liked them all) But was, like yourself, very respectful of his place as a fan of another team on this forum. And he was very knowledgeable on prospects, the Hawks system. So he was always well received. I think its great having your views here!
  10. I absolutely hate the trade for Chicago! Love it for Buffalo. Chicago however, has fleeced, primarily Arizona & Edmonton, by taking on underperforming forward prospects who are suddenly gold or at least more effective with Patrick Kane & an up tempo game. I personally am not that confident it will turn out as well as Dylan Strome for them. At least they honestly had the D prospect depth where it at least will not hurt them. I never saw the same potential in Alex as I did his brother, who I do like. My first thoughts would be Buffalo made the move because opportunity to fleece someone turned up. RHD Risto, Montour, Miller, Bogo in my view best to so,so. So my own personal view is I would move Bogo at the deadline or sooner. Let Joki get drip fed into the lineup. But maybe you know something I don't. Wonder what the Hockey Minister thinks?
  11. Woah, this real life trade does not effect me in any pools? I know they had great prospect D depth. But man, I don't like this for Chicago... What does everybody else think?
  12. Could we make the following roster changes for Minnesota, just to clean up our sheet please @Nail ? Assign D Calvin De Haan IR Assign F Michael Dal Colle minors Recall D Steve Santini Recall D Kale Clague Recall F Jakub Lilja Which should leave us our most likely opening day roster. There will be some hard decisions? We are looking for some progress this summer, promise of improved performance for contract value from Derrick Brassard & Viktor Rask. Some camp battles. Outside our line up Michael Dal Colle, Ryan Kuffner, should challenge for roles, hopefully Jakub Forsbacka Karlsson as forwards? D Jeremy Roy hopefully will repeat Oskar Lindblom's feat of earning a job in his D + 5 year? Rewarding our patience as Oskar did with a strong season. Couple of longer shot but possible candidates are Martin Ferhervary & Dylan Coghlan. In goal we have two strong AHL goalies Tristan Jarry & Evan Fitzpatrick, may be in tough against Mackenzie Blackwood.
  13. We did not bank either big draft picks, nor cap money. So this was always going to be an under the radar off season for Minny. Our signing of Jakub Lilja & Joakim Nygard, 25 & 26 year old mature age rookies was about as perfect, if not the big news splash, a UFA scenario we could have hoped for. We ran as many as seven rookie forwards last year. Which pretty much depleted our pool of NHL ready prospects. And one or two were going to be in tough to gain steady NHL work, be productive doing it. Joakim and Jakub bring speed, skill, potential middle 6 production from established pro's. Who were still achievable with our cap as they accepted reasonable contracts as an opportunity to win jobs in the NHL CDCFL. We'd like to thank the negotiating team for their work, Joakim, Jakub, and offer the players a hearty welcome!
  14. Edmonton calls up F Joakim Nygard Edmonton calls up F Tyler Benson Edmonton calls up D Jesper Sellgren. Edmonton calls up D Ian McCoshen Current depth chart (still some work to do);
  15. Edmonton would like to wish the best of luck, but ask the league to terminate the contract of Andrej Sustr. Signed with the Kunlon Red Star of the KHL. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/44405/andrej-sustr
  16. This is a good thread! I look back at Stamkos & Tavares around $6 / $7 mill coming off ELC's. Even Barkov & certainly Larkin is reasonable in a more modern look? I have two contributing theories; > The training, coaching & development of young players is much higher than ten years ago. The US now has the USNTDP, which is a pro style coaching & training environment for its top players. And the colleges they, and even intermediate players go to D + 1 is also very advanced. As is the semi-pro (Allsvenskan) & pro leagues (Liiga, even SHL & KHL, Extraliga) even D-1 many Euro prospects have access to. So players are just more reasy, even to break into the NHL at an early age. And the competition compounds itself, even 3rd and 4th round picks are shining at athletic testing at the combines. It is putting other countries ahead of Canada in their development. ** But more and more 19 and 20 year old players are having early results in the NHL to earn big contracts coming off ELC's. >> The market. And its fan pressures might be bigger? Teams like the Oilers, did sign Eberle, RNH to big contracts coming off ELC's. That might have been where it started? Maybe Hall was worth the big pact? Part of this is the markets Canadian teams play in. The world was going to die if Nylander was not signed? Draisaitl...Teams like Anaheim, San Jose & Florida have been significantly more responsible. Even if they did sign 5 or 6 year deals, they asked the players recognize being RFA. I don't think anyone could argue there would be undue pressure to have signed Barkov? For more money than $5.9 mill if he was in Vancouver or Toronto. Lord knows what Huberdeau would have been commanded if he was drafted by Montreal? Boston, an original 6 team, has a bit of this pressure. But even the once free spending NYR's have tied a lot of their home grown talent at reasonable pricing. Canadian markets are a problem! ** A secondary thread discussion is where this impact has landed against the effectiveness to the CHL as the once dominant source of the worlds best prospects. The junior age lock for CHLO draftee's, and that they don't, for the most part, have these programs and facilities, time to train because they are riding the bus.
  17. The CDC all speculation team? I realise I am on CDC. But better money is on them keeping a 24 year old, 6'4'' defenceman who has scored 40 points 3 years running.
  18. Me too... Zibanajed, Skjei, Everybody's favourite trade request Foxy D man,
  19. LOL, they only required 1 scouting source...
  20. We're still on a bit of a high without having any whiskey. From our drafts 8 picks; Two 1st round drafted forwards; Nolan Foote * & Lotto pick Alex Turcotte. * pick acquired in Marleau trade. Four 2knd round drafted D; Alex Romanov, Martin Fehevary, Matthew Robertson from Sherwood Park where I used to live & wild card speedster Albert Johansson. 3rd round Drafted forward Ilya Nikolayev 4th Round drafted forward Igor Spiridinov
  21. I'm not completely blind. Azzy sent me one of these and an offer to grab one of his ''gem'' contracts. But he found another taker I hear. Before I had a sip?
