  1. I'm not sure what you are on about. I don't have a post in this thread. Not a fan of offer sheets nor are they all that intriguing to me.
  2. By all means, set your hopes high? It is worth noting, we did not re-sign Hutton. Me, I'll be plenty happy if Benn can score 12 points, but clear the net, keep up with speedy forwards in our end...
  3. I'm not opposed to this. As long as the guys can reasonably play? 218lbs with agility and edgework, some work rate? You don't have to be Johnny Hockey with the puck to be a great 4th line player. Some skill? Voila, a strong second line player. Add a high motor and work rate? Great complimentary top 6, even top line winger.
  4. Mad scientist GM at work... ? Gets rave reviews from those reading it as the funny papers... Was there any logic? It was our decision to, perhaps, well definitely, overpay on a shorter term deal. We did similar in the past & found it far more responsible than paying big money to free agents on 7 & 8 year deals. And we like the player, who will play on what we believe is a likely play off team in Philly. Provide a great veteran presence for our young players, help us field an improving line up. Oh, and we're over the cap floor.
  5. Plus one, and a free step stool... (I also love small guys who play hard...)
  6. Florida move; Assignment of Tristan Jarry, Nick Lappin & Filip Chlapik to our minors squad. Just for sheet management @Tylez
  7. This team is well & truly looking up & on it's way Bomba! Great forward core, vets & youth; maybe a depth player to round out? Solid goaltending & maybe could use a performer on D. Very Nice!
  8. Myers played 20:20 minutes a night last year. Which would have been 3rd on our team. And will play more than that here. Ergo 2knd pair. Probably fair, even low salary UFA. For a 2knd pair D man...
  9. Slick wheeling by our 2knd round pick at the end of this clip here!
  10. Did Arizona get a goalie? Is Squeak still GM??
  11. I have to say? We are super pumped with our off season. 3 very different prospects, aside from their names all sounding Swedish, now as well! Marcus Hogberg is the most experienced, 24 a 6'5'' G had a strong AHL campaign with Belleville and a cup of tea with Ottawa. Jesper Sellgren is a 21 year old PMD, capped a magnificent SHL season, which included 6 pts in 10 play off games, by signing and playing a key role in Charlotte;s AHL Calder Cup championship. At 170 lbs, he's already played in men's leagues for 3 full years, with great performance levels. Interesting & highly skilled prospect. Johan Sodergram is just 19, also has played most of the past 2 years in the SHL starting at 17. Hard to put up numbers in a mens league at 17, so just arriving bodes well. He is, however, an NHL calibre athlete with size at 6'3'' and 205 lbs, described as a smooth skating and speedster with a powerful shot. Plays either wing. He had fantastic numbers his 16/17 year old season in Swedens Super Elit junior hockey circuit. Thanks for the work to agent Tylez, welcome players!
  12. We have a pretty strong team. Feel very fortunate to get some forward & forward prospect depth respectively. Nygard coming off a 20 goal SHL season & signed with Edmonton of the real life NHL. Sodergran undrafted the last 2 years in CDCPuck, just 19 has also played most of the last 2 years in the SHL. Where he had great results for a U20 player in a mens league. A chance to As a team, we have taken pride in developing, or acquiring young talent as the core of our hockey program. A track record of playing and developing our rookies. We'll do our best to launch the careers of the two players. Thanks for the work of the agents, welcome Joakim & Johan!
  13. What this tells me is? >> We have a 2knd PK defenceman on the left side to supplemement Alex Edler. >> AV style, more importantly we have a deployment defensive specialist. The defensive equivalent to Malhotra & more recently Sutter. The offensive stuff is overblown. Weber was out a lot of the season. And I don't imagine we'll be sending Benn over the boards for offensive zone face off's when we have Hughes first, or Edler 2knd rested. Those stats were just Montreal's lack of offensive depth. We also just broomed Hutton & Pouliot based on Hughes, potentially Juolevi, arriving. Nobody should get their hopes up for any offense from Jordie Benn. It does hint, we may have a LHD version of Tanev? On a less expensive contract. I don't believe he has the speed, to be a puck clearing machine that Tanev is. But does suggest he is otherwise just as good. Critically, one adding a D who can take care of the front of the net. Win corner battles and clear space. I suspect we will see a lot of Tanev & Benn together. I suspect we'll see a whole lot of Tanev and Benn together, on defensive zone draws.
  14. Probably were interested in all of them. Was CDC not, to some extent, interested in all of them along the journey?
  15. These above comparisons are not perfect. Salo was smarter defensively, better shot. Not as big, not as gifted with the puck. I'm not sure who is like Benn. We have not had that many big defensive D. But these were the closest I got in my time covering the Nucks...
  16. You are becoming a theologian in yer older years Alf? Good call on this comment.
  17. We have 15 forward candidates for our roster ATM. It is enough? But normally we have injuries & more competition for spots. There is not really any rookies pressing, unless someone makes a really big jump. Eriksson leaving may still happen. Miller Pettersson Boeser Baertschi Horvat Virtanen Pearson Sutter Leivo Roussel Beagle Motte Schaller Gaudette Eriksson Pretty solid? No real holes if I'm being honest. It is not particularly deep. I do think it will change, adding at least one more body. Especially because no rookie is pressing. I wish Lockwood had signed. Even if just tryout contracts. Two bodies if Eriksson leaves. How about Patrick Maroon?
  18. I'm personally not surprised Ferland did not get signed in the early signing period.
  19. Between Baertschi, Roussel, Pearson & Eriksson we have 4 guys who have spent time in the top 6. Jake is a candidate to join them. Leivo looked pretty good, at least ok? Its not as flash as signing Nyqvist? But it can work. Its a fair amount of selection, Leaves plenty of talent for a 3rd line. I personally like combo's of Roussel / Bo / Jake or Pearson / Bo / Jake Don't beat me too bad for suggesting, but I think this is the year Virtanen starts to figure it out. Adds game, some puck skill to his physical gifts.
  20. It may be enough > Brock will take up $6.5 ish? Leaves about $3.5. Benn is a great 6/7 D. Fantenburg 7/8 D. Gardiner, is an ideal 2knd pair LHD. Would play 3D for us. A marvelous tool to have? Most top teams have a strong defender very capable of moving up the line up. The real cost would actually be that we don't leave space for Juolevi. Mentioning that? You are probably correct. Better served elsewhere. I really like the Benn signing. He will have a role. But I also don't believe its a big role. I don't think he's a 2knd pairing D. If Edler gets hurt, or Hughes stumbles. Which is bound to happen for stretches. It does leave us slinging Juolevi up the line up. But I suppose that is what it is. So the question is do we have more moves? > Someone else mentioned we ran out of cap for Nyqvist. Is it a forward we're after? > Do we bring back Hutton, or another D, for less as depth? > Dzingel probably fits in our affordable pocket?? Or do we just save for a move at the deadline, or next summer...
  21. With the signing of Myers? Our right side D depth = Myers / Stecher / Tanev / Biega > Rafferty & Woo in pipeline. We could debate Tanev better than Stech, even Myers? But less minutes & less key minutes blocking shots, taking hits would hopefully extend the number of games Chris can play. It is without a doubt the best right side we have had in a while... My remaining questions? Once we have Brock signed, will the market have dimmed from some UFA's falling into a secondary market. Specifically, will we still have cap room to add Gardiner? I think it would be good! I was never happy with the concept of Gardiner instead of a good RHD. And I did not anticipate $3 mill from Hutton, $2 mill from Spooners buy out being available. It has a chance of being viable now? > I don't mind signing Gardiner with Hutton out of the picture, think it would help! > Or do we just still try to re-sign Hutton? > Signing Gardiner means no money to offer Tanev a raise next year. Hard to say what he will make in the market? But probably would signal Chris Tanev's departure? > Leaves us, ideally, not ideally, signing (fingers crossed) Tryamkin to play off side. Compete with Jett Woo for 3D next year.
  22. I thought he would be in on a second speedy forward. My own favourite target was Zucarello. Who ended up signing well over what I expected. Possibly fine considering we paid a reasonable price for Myers, Edler & the cap hit for Miller is also very good. But have to think who still is out there. I wanted sheer speeeeeeeed on a line with Petey and Boeser. Zucarello was that...
  23. 6'8'' actually. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/17521/tyler-myers
  24. Super pumped. Some do not like Myers, but he's a great talent. And this is a reasonable cap hit for a UFA. Expect us to protect Myers, Hughes & Juolevi in expansion; ideally re-sign Alex Edler again. Our rebuild is progressing. We should be a strong competitor for a wild card spot. Dallas, St Louis, Calgary top 3? Colorado & Nashville the key competition in the Midwest for a wildcard. Chicago an outside shot? Minny in for a hard year... The best division in hockey, bar none! Vegas, Calgary, but San Jose, Edmonton or us for 3rd? I don't think any Pacific team will wild card?
