  1. OK, that's it for Florida. Our thanks to the draft coordinators; @Nail, @Blue Jay 22, @inane, @canucklax, @Primal Optimist And in particular @Tylez for administering the draft. Good Luck to all & a great summer, before camp!
  2. Sorry for the muck about. And thanks for the consideration execs. Make up pick Boston : John Farinacci
  3. Natham Légaré! 45 goal scorer from the Q. @apollo
  4. They paid Radko frickin Gudas. That's like trading Sbisa (cough, because he was only getting paid $2.35 million) for a top pairing RHD. Niskanen's contract expires in 2 years. He would have been fantastic pick up.
  5. Two thumbs up for Lahey. ^ He's going to do great in this league!
  6. I'm very envious of Philly acquiring Niskanen for a low cost. He's EXACTLY what we needed. A 2 way right handed PMD, that can play any role. He's not an all star. But he's a very good, Edler calibre, right handed defenseman.
  7. IMO, one of the key components; does JB have a feel that we can re-sign Tanev? We're also sorta between a rock and a hard place with him. We desperately need him in the line up. But he's always hurt. And he's UFA next year. Tanev is always healthy in summer! I believe one of our best moves is Tanev to TO. Maybe Columbus, still not terribly far from home for Chris. Someone else spculate on what return, I don't believe we could get Kapanen. But we probably could get Liljegren. No doubt we could get the Russian righty. I would want Liljegren? But if we're ''looking'' for top 6 forwards and top 4 D, I don't feel we will trade Tanev for a prospect. Many don't like Zaitsev on CDC. His 36 points 2 years ago was what Edler put up leading us this year. I'm NOT saying he's as good as Edler. His tactical problem in TO was Gardiner and Reilly are better offensively. He's just mid tier offensively. So they gave offensive minutes to him, shutdown was tried, but he was not great at that. If he's brought on as a 2knd or 3rd pair guy for our 2knd PP and offensive minutes. I think he'll be fine. Stecher will take the more robust minutes and kill penalties. We also could get Zaitsev without giving up Tanev, even better?
  8. Key with Trouba, beyond the yellow brick road? Is will he sign. No trade deal without an extension in place. Once he goes to arbitration, he will be UFA next year. He would help us a ton. But we wont win a cup this year. Not after we take Horvat +, or Boeser out of the line up to get him. Even if we add a stud forward UFA. And he's rumoured to want to go to a US market in the East.
  9. Corey Perry? Funny enough. If we move Loui independently, I could see a nid level prospect to acquire Corey. He finished 2017/18 with 50 points. Just 1 year ago. His contract expires before the expansion draft.
  10. Haha, lolol. That's just you in drag. Lost a gag bet about how good is Zegras... Then Alflives takes it on as a life change? (cheers for Zegras on the Nucks)
  11. Yeah, pretty much! Caufield at 10 would not disappoint me at all. I think he's dynamite! I do prefer Marky to Koskinen. But the 8th is a pretty god prize. Its a fun angle! I don't see Edmonton trading the 8th though. Holland did a pretty good job flushing, one example Datsyuk to Zona, bad contracts without giving premium assets. And he simply ate some other ones. Or their still in Detroit. No propensity to panic sell, which we're all hoping for?
  12. It seems, ultimately, something turned Tampa against this prospect. Bit of a hiccup, we don't know what? Flush...
  13. Florida is up at 100th overall, 4 picks to go before us at 9AM. Sent in a list.
  14. It would be nice. Problem is, 8th overall picks are expensive. . I dare say more than taking on a bad contract. At this point Jake or Juolevi would not command that pick. IMO, but I feel that's fair. Gaudette & our 10th? I would cough. Not sure I would offer it? Not sure they would take it.... (so might be an example). Might get us Dach? 8th & Puljujarvi for Horvat? 8th and Bouchard?? Looch & 8th for Eriksson & 10th is about only bad contract deal I have seen that might be realistic. What dyu propose?
  15. I really like this trade for Philly! Gudas is the like real Pizzaman, he's got Sbisa style all over him! @apollo. Which is to say, he has pretty good physical tools. Has some throwback elements to his game. But that game, we'll use that term rather than his head, isn't really quite there. Forwards cant hassle the goalie anymore anyway. To the extent they used to. Power forwards are commonly not fast enough to keep up. The guys who were there to clear the net, but did not offer any puck skills, are a liability and less benefit than years past. I wonder if this means Wash will clean house? Or its just a cap dump.
  16. Mighty mouse isn't a bad term. From the combines, he scored extremely high in strength, both upper & lower body. Was among the leanest athletes for body fat as well as great strength. He's a great athlete, very fit. I don't believe his success, or future success will be an accident. I will be surprised if he is available at ten. But its a wacky year. Equal is pushing it. My own rankings have Hughes, Kacko, then next but close behind Byram & Turcotte. Its a lot harder to rate after that. People, by that I mean one team or another, may love Dach's potential. Blended with his size? But these 4 stand out to me. A guy like Caufield? His stats, no doubt, are inflated by who he played with. Not just Hughes, but also Turcotte, Boldy, Zegras (your favourite, ask your wife about his hair? ). But he's still extremely slick. Subtle adjustments, dart this way or that. Always to the perfect spot to rifle a shot most would not see, nor nail. But its still different than a guy who drives play in all zones.
  17. Seider has NHL speed. Not game breaking speed. Very mature player for his age. A safe pick. But I doubt the best pick available. Seider, I have seen one system rank him 10th overall. Quite a few 15 to 20. But also quite a few 20 to 34. Podkolzin on the other hand? Has potential to be a top 3 forward, maybe eben top 3 or 4 players in this draft. Zegras has sneaky & evasive speed, all out speed and puck control. Top 20% in the NHL overall speed. He might not be an all star? But a safe bet to be a highly effective player. And a weapon. Seider, one notch down, highly likely to be an effective player. Not likely to be an elite one. ... They should stand up and cheer! Hmmm, so Broberg? Massive upside, wide shoulders, but still slim at 200 lbs. He's big & a great athlete. Many glimpses of great skills. The forwards at 10 will be safer picks. But Broberg could hit it out of the park!
  18. My mistake, @Tigs up NOT @Sergei Bobrovsky, apologies Sergei!
  19. Florida selects Yegor Spiridonov, LW/C from Stalnye Lise Magnitigorsk in the MHL, or wherever... @Sergei Bobrovsky
  20. Newhook? A little tank, sure. A good shot, also yes. He's not as fast. But fast enough I think? Its the real question. North / South? I'd describe it as he goes to the net, and Jake don't. Through traffic, around traffic. He's got junk for days Virtanen only can dream of. Vision. Can handle the puck with guys hanging on him. Beat checks. He can pass (!). He's a pivot. He actually reminds me of a xentre version of what I hoped Shinkaruk would become. Same kind of moves, with a lot more tenacity and stronger on his skates.
  21. I would defend Benning trading picks. For players like Dorsett, Baer, even Vey? If that is what you are referring to. Defend it all day, every day. I cannnot blame him at all? For not wanting the team to descend into a complete free for all, spiral to chaos. Not all teams recover. There are more Florida and Edmonton stories. Than there are Chicago or Pitt, who won cups. And also won, lucked into if we're being honest, generational talents at the time they went scorched Earth. Look to the period before Burke arrived. We were a sorry ass losing team. But not even at the dregs of the league. And the P & E, then GM place were empty. There was talk of us leaving town. It cost Arthur Griffiths his fortune. Pitt, won cups but literally went bankrupt in the time preceding. And, even with our so so team, with the Twins. Attendance & team values have plummeted. We're a fair weather hockey town. I can only imagine how bad it would be if we were Buffalo, or Florida for 10 years? Even if you believe in such rebuilds, sell everything and wait for the fruits of high picks? I would never argue for such in Vancouver. I believe you try & wind, at least as much as is reasonable. Rather than lose on purpose. Normal cycles, life itself suggest you have some down time anyway. That is what I believe happened here, and I don't blame Benning for it. No harm in being grumpy about individual moves which backfired? Eriksson, Clendenning sucked, Jake is less than ideal? Blunders. Lets say we've taken 15 steps in 5 years? We're still ten steps closer to a long term, sustainable, high quality hockey team.
  22. That's a fun thought? Maybe Edler can get EK to not sign an NMC, so Alex can? Uhm...
  23. I f Karlsson leaves San Jose? Gardiner would be a near perfect left handed partner to right handed Burns in an elite puck moving pair.Even if he's a notch down? Might even be a better fit, consider salary, left side, and injury history. They also have incredible money already tied up in Valssic as a defensive D on the left side. I don't see Edler as the top option as a substitute. Edler works for us, Gardiner for SJ. I'm predicting that is where he lands.
