  1. The level of competition at the WJC's, for example, clearly suggest all the top Euro countries are developing top level talent. Highly competitive! And, of course, you are welcome to your opinion. But the NHL attracts, steals if you will, most of the best talent from those countries. Their 3rd lines and 3rd pairs are made up of players who would be, overwhelmingly, top line players in the KHL, SHL, Liiga, etc. That is not the case in Sweden. Their 3rd lines are made up of guys who can not play top line in Sweden. There is a big challenge to fill 30 pro teams in the two Swedish key pro leagues with their population base. And further considering the majority of their true best players are in the NHL; I remain of the opinion the depth roles in Europe are just not at the same level. Daniel Rahimi, not even an effective AHL role player but gamely employed by Vaxjo, is an example.
  2. Is this something wholly to be dismissed? There is some top talent, see Kovalchuck, particularly the KHL. But I dont believe the breadth and depth. Sweden, IMO, does have better top end talent than the AHL? But Rodin was an MVP in Sweden for example. And a valid prospect, but not top talent here by any stretch. The playing style and smaller rinks a factor that may have helped him be more effective there? Daniel Rahimi plays a substantial role for Petterson's team as another example. An NHL team, probably any NHL team, will defeat, handily, a team with Rahimi as a core player in my estimation.
  3. Not in front of our crease sir?
  4. That top 6 has some size (Gadj, Horvat & Jake) and impressive skill. Speed? Especially the top line looks like it needs at least one burner to surface.
  5. Plus 1 for edit 2 @SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME I also believe Euro players have a bit more earning power on that side of the pond. In comparison to the AHL? Plus the Lifestyle advantages of being at home, etc.. Which is why KHL and SHL guys have out clauses to go back to Europe if they are not in the NHL. Credit to the ones who believe in learning the N American game. And take a hit to play in the AHL in the name of their best development curve...
  6. The inference is that Tyler was doing the boss's daughter and his teammates wife?
  7. Hard to tell before training camp. No news, hopefully will be good news. Last summer there were lots of Jake "sightings'' during the summer. Most noticed how much extra weight he was carrying. And was offset by media reports quoting him as ''having reached all his training milestones?'' And an equal number of off hand remarks by vets about ''some'' rookies not taking it seriously. At training camp if he blows away the VO2 max scores? And starts up ice like a heat seeking missile, to hunt down D with the puck. Starts hurting people. Starts crashing the net. Starts behaving like someone who is going to take a job, and nobody can do anything about it? Then we'll know... (He does have that capacity!)
  8. I am pretty sure that was part of the logic last year. But once the season started, he did not pan out, have the grunt, the effort we needed. Nor the results with the puck. So he was sent down to improve. And learn the lesson he was not being gifted a spot because he had NHL size and athleticism.
  9. My god, I was coming to post this song!!!! Saw the Headpins live, pretty sure it was at the St Vital Hotel. with fake ID, when I was like 15? Darby in her X toe leather pants ruined me for life. I live in Australia these days. Here is a great band of similar ilk & vintage (maybe 7 or 10 years older?) I saw a few months ago...
  10. Surely a 6'2'' 180 lb center could never make it in the NHL West? http://forecaster.thehockeynews.com/player/1917
  11. And a more current song that turns my crank!
  12. On my way back from the beach, for a winter surf, last week; I was highly amused to pass the Hurdy Gurdy creek and nature reserve. Funny enough, while listening to some old Jeff Beck in my car. I said, hey wait... (listen to the outstanding old 60's psychedelic guitar in this tune, by guess who?)
  13. I saw a Suzzi Quattro show here in Melbourne, just a few months ago. Very good. Amusing crowd of 60 something year olds, in leather jackets that did not fit anymore, unfortunately, also?
  14. Nice job @AlwaysACanuckFan . That song was lost in my vault for 20 years. I love this thread!
  15. Picked this cd up today > figured I would share? Sooo relaxing... Just gettin with the times I guess.
  16. It all depends on how you look at things? IMO, there is nothing better for a rookie than busting your ass to win a spot. And being rewarded for the effort. Then being told, ''keep doing it to stay up.'' ''Keep doing it, you still have to earn time!'' Busting your ass against NHL competition, if you can hold your head up? It is going to improve your game more than anything! But if you are struggling? Let the lame ass vet struggle instead... Go back down and get high minutes, lots of situations, lots of practice reps & gym time in Utica.
  17. Introduced to this one by Streetheart. And this one by Vancouver locals (I think?), Rhymes with Orange
  18. Had the great pleasure to see the Doobies in 2014. The band was soo tight!
  19. ''Mobility is a major concern, and the organization would like to see him take strides in, well, his ability to take strides.'' That was a quote from the article below, from his age 22 year. Well into his pro career. He was also reported to have been cut by Travis Green, on almost day 1 of his first pro camp. Because he could not skate. https://canucksarmy.com/2015/10/14/dane-fox-assigned-to-kalamazoo/
  20. A haunting, painful, bluer than blue song by Johnny...
  21. LOL, that one was actually a Zoo shot. I like the pic, but my wife has never let me put it up on the wall for some reason?
  22. Yeah, those were all a 6 Mega pixel digi. I have an SLR now, but sooo much harder to frame pics in a hurry. You like nature shots. Here is a few...
