  1. Pretty dissapointed by OJ so far. I still think he's got pretty high potential, but I'm really expecting to see more by now. On the bright side, I think it's almost a certainty that he is back in junior/Europe this year, which would certainly be best for him.
  2. I've really liked Jake's camp so far. Good hustle, getting involved in plays, skating his ass off, and adding some goals. I'm high on his chances of making the team this year. It'll be interesting to see who is cut once the 'real' team gets back from China.
  3. Maybe he likes Bure's number 10 (7+3) And with 10, and 19 retired, 28 and 37 out of circulation, 73 seem like a nice choice.
  4. Penalty shot in OT, if I remember correctly.
  5. That's the point I was making. If an athlete as fit and strong as Horvat is clinicly obese by some metric, then that metric is wrong. For the record at 6'0" and 223lbs, Bo's BMI is 30.2. Anything greater than 30 is considered obese. So the number of pounds Virtanen comes into camp at is largely irrelevant. What matters is that he is light enough to skate like the wind and have endurance, yet heavy enough to be sturdy and hit hard. Whatever that number is.
  6. Isn't Bo clinicly Obese if you used BMI alone?
  7. Would you speculate he might be asking for 2 years, and that's why he isn't signed yet?
  8. That is what I would expect too. I'm just not seeing where management and Gaunce's agent are apart on this deal.
  9. I'm not sure where Granlund land in our line-up. Back with the twins? Bottom 6? Is Ganger a similar player to him at all?
  10. Blame academics; the above is exactly what you do in an "argumentative essay"
  11. I wonder what Gaunce is asking for (contract wise) for him not to have a deal yet? 1 way, multi-year?
  12. I think this is why he didn't go in the first round. He wasn't the 'play driver' on that line. Still, he has the potential to be a great complimentary winger for a skilled centre by providing some sandpaper, finishing, and net drive.
  13. I feel you OP. I picked up a part-time job working nights at a hotel. My actual job, the night audit, is about a total of 3 hours of work, but I'm on from 11pm to 7am. The rest of the time I'm at the front desk doing the late check-ins and early check-outs. This leads to a LOT of cdc time I do some studying/homework in my down time too, but it's frowned upon to have my books spread all over the front desk, and I'm often not at my sharpest in the wee hours of the morning.
  14. Pretty much this, although death by armed conflict has risen over the last two years from the all-time low in 2014. Still doesn't come anywhere close to any other time in history. As another poster pointed out, I would think future threats are electornic in nature. Hacking attempts to disrupt banking and infrastucture.
  15. Exciting news. I don't remember another time we had 3 invitees for the U20 Canadian team.
  16. He's older than most in the draft, will turn 19 in October.
  17. I liked Glass at 5, but oh well. Pettersson has some incredible high-end skill, looking forward to watching him.
  18. Thanks for the info. I'm surprised scouts are wearry of his size. 5'11" and 183lbs for someone who isn't even 18 yet isn't bad
  19. What's the word on Suzuki? Consistant and dangerous offensively, plays a strong 200 foot game, natural centre but played a lot wing this year, decent in the dot, plays in all situations, good skater, not big but handles himself well in the rough stuff, one of the youngest players in the draft, 96 points ( 45 goals, 51 assists) this year. So what is it that keeps him out of the 5-12 range? Is there something that he's lacking that keeps him in the ~15 neighborhood?
  20. He did make one of the teams...
  21. Thanks guys, I'm thinking I'll write down a new programme, even just a 3x /week. Might be a bit of a grind to get there the first few times, but like RRypien said, hopefully a few hard sessions and I'll be hooked again. I like to train for powerlifting, never seriously thought about competing, I just like to bench, squat, and deadlift heavy ass weight. I've had some pretty noticable strength loss over the last four months, which is pretty demoralizing. I know the only way to fix that is to get back there and put the reps in.
  22. I've been pretty athletic most of my life, always in sports and in the gym. Probably didn't ever go more than two days without the gym from 2012 to 2016 (or an improvised workout if a gym was just not an option). But this year, since 2017 started, I've hardly gone at all and it feels terrible. I'm in the midst of a career change, so I am back at school (full time course load) and I'm still working about 28 hours per week. So finding time is a bit of an issue, but that sounds like an excuse to me. If I really needed to, I would be able to make time. On the rare occasion over the past few months that I have gone, I constantly feel guiltly that I'm not studying or spending time with the Mrs (who is feeling a bit neglected with my more intensive schedule). How has CDC busted gym slumps?
  23. Congrats to Goldy on his 1st as a Canuck.
  24. Way to go Bo! 2 more today. He's on pace for low to mid 50s, would be wonderfully fitting if he ended up with 53
