  1. According to the Dan Russel show it happened in '85 as well, both times to the Oilers, and coincidentally all 3 times have been in the 3rd period. Imagine that.
  2. I thought Tortorella should've been given 1 more season after this one, I've now changed my mind. He was an A-hole for leaving Lack in net for that disaster. I just hope he wont ruin Lack the way AV ruined Luongo in the playoffs. In my opinion we've passed the point of no return, it is officially time to tank this season on purpose indefinitely.
  3. So because we scratched out a win at home against Calgary, Tortorella gets to keep his coaching job here? That doesn't really pass the giggle test for me. Gillis should be removed first and then let the new guy decide what to do with Torts.
  4. If it's any consolation, Luongo's in a better place now.
  5. To answer the OP, the way things are going, I'd say it is very likely.
  6. That's funny, because in addition to Lack, these might be the only 3 guys on the team worth hanging on to.
  7. I wish there was some way we could trade the Sedins, if nothing else but for cap space.
  8. I dont like how Gillis tossed Schneider away for a promise, but what we got for Luongo is definitely not unreasonable. Luongo was no longer a Vezina or Hart caliber goaltender. He was a good goaltender playing for what is now a crap team, now he is going to another crap team, but it's where he wants to be and most of his cap hit is off our books, so good luck to him.
  9. That's interesting, because as Canucks both McLean and Luongo were nominated for the Vezina twice. By the way, if were talking about playoffs then McLean was better in '94 than Luongo was in '11. McLean - 15W, 9L, 2.29 GAA, .928 Sv%, 4 SOs. Luongo - 15W, 10L, 2.56 GAA, .914Sv%, 4 SOs.
  10. She should play that depressing song from the animal cruelty commercials. Very suitable for Canucks hockey this year.
  11. Like Dan Russell said on his show last night, Gillis continues to bask in the glory of 2011. Ignore everything before then - the two second round knockouts to Chicago, ignore everything after then - the two first round knockouts to California teams. Ignore the first 6 weeks of 2014, none of that matters, none of that counts, just focus on the good things. Focus on the constant stream of excuses from this organization. Gillis thinks this team is going to be alright? It hasn't been alright in a long time.
  12. We got some loser points in our 2009 streak.
  13. And because one wont move without the other.
  14. I'm not sure that's the case all of the time. Yes it does seem like they quit in games now and then, but I think it's more that their talent has rapidly diminished for whatever reason.
  15. I aint even mad. This team has been gradually getting worse and worse ever since January 7 2012 when they won in Boston. I think they have now pretty much hit rock bottom, they suck. Aside from the goaltenders, this team sucks. I'm gonna sound like a bad fan, but right now it no longer bothers me when this team loses. Honestly I think this season is a write-off and if we're gonna lose games I like the way the Canucks are losing. If they continue to look like they are it's only a matter of time before necessary changes are made to the roster and hopefully the management. This Canucks team will not contend for the cup this year and I for one am not interested in seeing them get bounced in the playoffs again after only 4 or 5 games. They simply dont have what it takes to compete. I'm looking forward to an actual honest team "reset" next year. Hopefully.
  16. Canucks are gonna explode offensively tomorrow, I can feel it. Bruins win 8-3
  17. It isn't. The 08/09 team's core was 5 years younger and on the upswing as we now know. This team is in the opposite situation. Our top "sniper" Daniel Sedin will be very lucky to hit 20 goals and 60 points this year.
  18. 08/09 - 246 Goals - 100 pts - 2nd round exit. 09/10 - 272 Goals - 103 pts - 2nd round exit. 10/11 - 262 Goals - 117 pts - 4th round exit. 11/12 - 249 Goals - 111 pts - 1st round exit. 12/13 - 217 Goals - 101 pts - 1st round exit. (Goals and points prorated to 82 games.) 13/14 - 207 Goals - 94 pts - Miss playoffs? (Goals and points are what we are on pace for.) This is the Mike Gillis era to date. A three year ascent followed by a three year decline which sharpens each season. When will the Aquilinis stop the bleeding is what I'd like to know?
  19. And yet he overpaid them and threw in an NTC.
