  1. The trouble isn't Lu letting in 2 goals and the team losing, the trouble is Lu letting in 3-8 and the team losing. How many 2-1 or 2-0 games have the Canucks lost in the playoffs in recent memory?
  2. Then I'm afraid that wouldn't be stealing at all. We lost.
  3. Wrong. His entire body of work does not prove that at all. Yes his regular seasons have been mostly very good, but in the 10 playoff series he played between 2007 and 2011, in half of them he posted very ordinary stats. To his credit however, he did post very good stats in the other half.
  4. After his good playoff in 2007 Luongo has a 2.75 GAA and .909 Sv% in 52 games. After 2007 Luongo has a 2.37 GAA and .918 Sv% in 330 regular season games. A very sharp contrast.
  5. Luongo's better in the regular season, always has been except for one time.
  6. Except Kolzig actually put up very good numbers in his cup run.
  7. I dont think anybody's arguing that Luongo isn't a great regular season goalie, he is.
  8. What exactly do the Canucks skaters lack of scoring ability have to do with the fact that Luongo's play on average regresses in the playoffs? This hasn't been a one year issue, this has been a trend for 3 consecutive postseasons following 2007, nevermind the only 4 playoff games he's played over the last 2 seasons which weren't exactly spectacular. The team not scoring, which has really only been a serious issue for the last 3 series, should not have such a noticeably negative impact on Luongo's overall stats. "Crawford is a sieve and played like crap every second game"? Well despite this and all of those supposed soft goals he allowed he still managed to post a 1.84 GAA, .932 Sv%, and win a Stanley Cup. Luongo hasn't finished a playoff with numbers even close to that since '07, and obviously no cup.
  9. Luongo has pretty much always been (and will probably continue to be) an elite regular-season goalie. What separates him from the truly elite and greats from the past is that aside from one season (2007), he hasn't been able to elevate his game consistently in the playoffs. This is why since 2007 he's sporting a playoff GAA of 2.75 and .909 Sv%, a far cry from his regular season averages post 2007 - 2.37 GAA, .918 Sv%. Whatever the other factors may have been in those 5 postseasons (injuries, reffing, etc.), Luongo's game clearly regresses on average.
  10. The Conjuring. Was pretty creepy and kept me very entertained the whole way through, 8/10.
  11. Just finished World War Z a few hours ago. Very entertaining and I didn't look at my watch or think about cigarettes even once. Two thumbs up.
  12. Just saw Fast and the Furious 6 on monday. It was pretty much just crap. 3/10, and that's being generous.
  13. So long AV. Hopefully the new coach eliminates the country club atmosphere the Canucks have come to enjoy and can squeeze the most out of whatever group Gillis will have assembled next season.
  14. Maybe I'm wrong but I seem to remember Christian Ehrhoff being effective immediately.
  15. I was and am concerned that Garrison might be a one hit wonder, but it's still very early and he'll probably need a bit more time to get really comfortable. If we dont see any flashes of what made him successful last year soon, then maybe we can start worrying. What was most concerning to me about his career season last year was how few assists he had. Sure he had 16 goals but maybe (not very likely) he was just getting lucky, hammering the puck, hoping for the best, and it worked 16 times. I hope very much that I'm wrong though.
  16. What I've been wondering is, why did the league and the NHLPA only just started trying to make a deal a couple of months ago? Couldn't they have started trying to work something out a year ago so there would be less likelihood of a lockout?
  17. I've been a fan of this team for 20+ years and I did see Courtnall play quite a bit. I thought it was a fair comparison between the two players. They both scored clutch goals, were both good playoff performers, both scored in bunches quite often, etc. I only said that Burrows was better because I believed he had some better seasons as a Canuck. On closer inspection though, Courtnall does have mostly higher point totals, to be fair though he did play in an era when scoring was higher.
  18. Burrows is the Geoff Courtnall of today only better.
