  1. Wrong. Just wrong. What do you mean teams are not willing to match JT's salary demands when it's been stated the Canucks were not allowing other teams to talk to JT when discussing potential trades. Again, teams simply don't want to trade a first round pick, a top prospect, and potentially more when Jt could walk away after one year. That has nothing to do with teams not willing to pay him. If he was just a free agent he would have tons of interest. Stop making stuff up.
  2. This is a ridiculous statement. Most teams would want JT if he was a free agent. They just don't want to have to trade for him .
  3. The current set up is crazy. You often only get 2 actual years out of these guys on their 3 year rookie deals then they immediately get top dollar. Josh Norris could could definitely keep progressing, but he could just as easily remain as a 25 goal 50 ish point guy who is now making 8 million for 8 years when. I honestly think rookie deals should be bumped up to 4 years.
  4. I love the hate on here. If some Canadian guy left an American team to come to the Canucks and left money on the table in the process while citing a desire to play closer to home or in his home country he would be praised endlessly. But Johnny Gaudreau does it and he's stupid, gutless, hates Canada lol.
  5. Besides the fact that Tampa can still get to the playoffs while missing Kucherov. Any player Vancouver puts on injured reserve with a high enough salary to be useful would most likely cause us to miss the playoffs again lol.
  6. What's any of this have to do with new jerseys current cap space ?
  7. The Devil's still have 17 million in cap space even after signing Palat. Hughes, Hischier, and Hamilton are locked up long term already. Next year Tomas Tatar @ 4.5, Andreas Johansson @ 3.4, and Erik Haula at 2.375 are all off the books as well. I wouldn't count them out.
  8. Too bad Kapanen wasn't a center otherwise this trade would be perfect.
  9. Sign me up . Although if both Dermott and Schenn are just sitting there in the sidelines maybe they don't trade for Hakanpaa. Some picks instead ?
  10. Geekie or a second .....those are two very different things. Edit: whoops I'm a dummy. I was thinking of Connor Geekie in Arizona for a second.
  11. Can you/anyone summarize Marino vs Petterson? They are similar in age, offensive output, and salary. Petterson is slightly bigger, but I know nothing of their advanced stats or style of play.
  12. Boqvist, Ceulemans, Jiricek, Mateychuk, Bean, Foudy, Chinakov, Sillinger, Johnson, Roslovic. Would gladly take some sort of D/ forward combo off their hands.
  13. Dude hasn't broken 50 points for 6 years. I understand that he comes with playoff pedigree but still seems like his deal should be a million less.
  14. 650 just reported that the Islanders, Devil's and Blue jackets are all making hard pushes for Gaudreau. I doubt that Gaudreau choses Columbus. They might be one of the teams that goes hard after Miller once none of the free agents available want to sign there. Columbus has Jiricek, Mateychuk, and Ceulemans for the future on the blueline. I would try to jump on that if I was the Canucks. Jiricek and Ceulemans are RHD as well.
  15. Is it? Is it really? A 5th defenceman and a cap dump? That trade doesn't look good for us at all. Has to have a future 1st or Owen Pickering attached to it to even start to look attractive.
  16. I absolutely hate it. We started off with an ask of : a 1st, a top prospect, and a roster player. Now we're willing to trade Miller for a #4/5 d man and some spare parts/contract dump? I would do Garland for Marino, but it it's Miller I'm asking for Marino, a first, and either Owen Pickering or Sam Poulin.
  17. I mean Eklund is Eklund, but there was the Capitals rumoured package at the draft, plus the New york "deal" that was a thing. They could definitely be talking still.
  18. 6'2" 210 pound center with a bit of nhl experience. Stepped his game up in the AHL playoffs last year at almost a ppg clip. Sounds like good call up material.
  19. lol. That has to be a generous listing. I don't think he would get the angry elf nickname if he was a true 5'10
  20. So on pace for 16 ish goals in his "rookie" year, followed by a 2nd year slump, then on pace for 33 goals last year. If he averages 18-22 for us I would call it a win.
  21. Sacrifice a bit of skill for size and speed. I guess its not the worst trade off. Pod and Hog have a ton of room for growth to make up for what we would lose with the departure of Garland, not to mention Kuzmenco as well.
  22. Culture my friend, culture. Much rather have Bains, Kalynuck, Linus Karlsson, Nils Aman, Filip Johannson etc in the AHL than random 30 year old career minor league players signed just to fill a space. At least all of these guys are still young and have a SLIGHT bit of potential.
  23. Thats all fine and dandy now. The trade deadline is a different story. Miller still nets a 1st and a high end prospect.
