  1. Don’t expect a hockey player named Anders Bjork to be from Wisconsin
  2. It’s crazy that Labrie played on our farm team when Grabner, Hansen, Raymond were our top prospects. Mike Keane (who is now 55) and Nolan Baumgartner were on that team. For the dude to be a late cut on an NHL at this stage is wild
  3. 16 points in 31 games and a +6 while on Philly last year. Seems like a decent pickup for the price. Mixing in guys making league minimum and are above 30% WAR seems like pretty good cap management, freeing up space for the top end players who make more of a difference. Spending $2.5+ on guys below 30% WAR is a recipe for disaster and something Benning did quite a lot
  4. Scored over 21 goals as a 20 year old rookie and his last 50 point season he was 27. Only 32 now but this guy feels like he is 36 - interesting career for sure
  5. You want Aman, not a boy you thinks he can ?
  6. Stralman was top of my PTO list would have been a solid 3rd RHD with Dermott or Rathbone
  7. I can imagine this being one of those trades that is horrible for Dallas when it happens and ends up being one of the best trades of the decades and Lundqvist becomes a #1 D. I don't think that would happen but it just seems like one of those deals.
  8. In his prime I think he is the most underrated goaltender of all time. Until his decline he had the best save percentage in history. Looks like last year he bounced back in the AHL would love to see him end his career strong.
  9. Disheartening we are paying Dickinson 2.6 when we could be paying Motte 1.3
  10. Wasn’t he a pretty good player a few years back? Still in his 20s
  11. Outside of a true superstar (which EP has potential to be) our forward group is phenomenal. We have insane centre depth, great mix of youth and vets, speed, scoring, grit. Montreal is a mix of young guys with potential and wash ups. Not saying they don’t have some really good top 6 pieces because they do, but things will take time. Dach is a calculated risk. A big, young, 30ish point player with enormous upside is a great gamble to make at that dollar amount. Benning paid the same for guys with similar production with enormous downside - I like this deal for Montreal.
  12. 6’4 215lbs an absolute burner who can score at the AHL level - sucks he can’t seem to put it together
  13. Dipietro is now 23, a 3rd round pick that has actually regressed and only played 76 games over the last three seasons. He is also short which doesn't scream potential in a days of large goalies. Does he have any value at all? Like even a 7th rounder? I have a hard time seeing a team give up anything for him. I guess from an optics standpoint it looks better to acquire a player like "Dipietro + 3rd round pick" looks better than a 3rd round pick by itself.
  14. Linden was a 30 point player and basically a 3rd liner at JT’s age. Thornton had 82 points at 36 and 86 at 29. Pavelski, Ovechkin, Burns, Malkin, Bergeron, Wheeler all putting up good point totals still at the age Miller will be at the end of his contract. Jeff Carter down from 62 points to 45, Getzlaf 63 in 77 down to 37 in 56, Perry 62 down to 40. JT Miller is coming off a far better season at 29 and these guys are still contributing relatively well. If Miller has the same decline and is putting up around 50-60 points the final two seasons it won’t be the end of the world
  15. The difference between Motte and Richardson would not have been the 6 points we needed for the playoffs. Management did the right thing
  16. We can’t keep rebuilding forever. With JT coming back we have massive improvements up front Kuzmenko & Mikheyev >>> Chiasson & Motte. I can also see Podz taking another big step forward. Our goaltending is great. A full year with Bruce and I think this team makes the playoffs but D is a massive red flag.
  17. They had similar production last year and Nazem averages about 1.5 points per game less than JT over his career. Based on Kadri getting 7x7 I think 7.5x8 is fair for JT.
  18. Let’s throw some predictions - 1 goal 1 assist -3 in 8 NHL games 23 goals 18 assists in 62 AHL games
  19. Looks like a great bottom pairing who can move up to the 2nd pair when needed. Had his highest point totals in a decade last season.
  20. 14 goals in 28 AHL games last year. He might have a little left in the tank but hard to see him stick around.
  21. Surrey and even Vancouver is way sketchier than Toronto, or at least the sketchy areas are harder to avoid. Its not like I have any reason to go to Jane & Finch where I often found myself in Walley or near the Downtown Eastside. I don't really know anyone in Toronto who has randomly been beat up or mugged on the street and it has happened to a lot of people I know who live or go to school in Surrey. I saw armed robberies in the middle of the day. Vancouver is bad as well, I saw two guys go into SFU with Machetes and walk out with two iMacs. I went back to Vancouver in July and it seems to have gotten a lot worse. I saw more people smoking crack on the street than I ever expect to see in my lifetime in TO, it was an absolute disaster. I live in a relatively sketchy part of Toronto and it feels far safer than where I stayed in Downtown Langley which is Disneyland compared to a place like Bridgeview.
  22. Wow he really came out of nowhere. I thought he was a decent, young 4th liner with maybe 15 goal potential. Going from a career high of 8 goals to 38 in his 5th pro season is insane, almost unheard of. I had no idea he had that type of production and was shocked when I saw the AAV.
  23. I'd like Lundkvist but wouldn't pay a lot for him. Maybe Hoglander or Dipietro plus a 3rd. In a package for JTM I wouldn't consider him a major piece.
