  1. Just played a bit of online poker for the first time in years, and it still sucks. It's not even close to "poker".

No, I didnt lose, I left. Just got frustrated with the pace and the fact you don't get to read your opponent. You know, like poker.

They should call it "rush in like a moron-ker", because if people played poker with real money like they do with online money, people get killed.

All in push, pre-flop, 5 straight hands... So I left. I'd love to meet that guy in a real game though. I love slow playing the intraweb kids.

I started up again recently with play money and seemed to find a few more hits than misses.  But I get you, nothing more frustrating than starting a game and after the first hand someone at the table already has 3x the chips than you because two other dumbasses went all in with next to nothing.

@luckylager  Totally get what you mean about the difference between real-world poker games.  Tried online poker once and it wasn't much fun for me.

I remember playing real poker with real people back in the 80s--a friend used to host them at his place once every two weeks.  He once said, "it ain't a poker game unless it's played in a dark, smoky room with alcohol" and that's pretty much described his basement on those poker nights.

That was when it was more of social thing with friendly real-money betting, and less about the technical aspects of poker--half the time, whoever was dealing would call for a draw poker game, often with wildcards.  Even so, half the fun was trying to tell when someone was trying to bluff their way through a hand (which admittedly, didn't happen that often since we were using real cash).  I remember I did pretty well most nights: I usually came out ahead, even if it wasn't by much.

My dream is to spark one at a poker table, with a Tom Collins in the other hand.  Yup, that's how poker should be played.  Guess I'll have to host a game for that to happen lol, in the meantime I'll just have to contend with hot boxing my bathroom and playing on my phone.

I play with my buddies once a season but it's dealers choice and it's usually Omaha.  Cannot complain last time though, Omaha was good to me.
