Home is where the heart is, chon. Too many people believe the value in their pockets is greater than the value of their hearts. I don't. Well, guess some people's hearts are full of concrete, bright lights and hair gel.... I guess I could have a more diverse portfolio if I chose to be a city slicker. But I really only want to see my barber twice a year, I love my '95 4runner and I'd way rather spend my time, with my family, away from the trappings of city life. I'll be enjoying my espresso from a thermos, my sandwich from a tupperware in the shaded glow of an ancient forest while the lego heads talk numbers with their golf buddies over a latte, eating microwaved sammies on a concrete patio while huffing exhaust fumes.

Truth Sunshine coast is a lot like the Island. Sechelt and Powell River are both pretty kick ass
-
Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the kids and their priorities . I was born and raised on the Island. Lived on the mainland (Whistler, Squamish) for 5ish years, moved back to the Island because it's the best place on earth. Not even the most picturesque places on the mainland hold a candle to the Island, let alone the more peaceful and relaxed nature of the locals. I also disagree with your notion of there being more opportunity on the mainland. Check the unemployment stats, Van Isle is rocking for opportunity, plus, homes are still affordable for the most part

Gotta make at least 30% off an investment like that. Especially after giving KM a 735% return..

I'm all for nationalizing our resources... but not at that price. What a fool

Really, nothing else because we want a better deal and know we have all the leverage? Okay then, it's actually your loss, not ours. We're doing just fine out here. PS- thanks for shipping all your crackheads and junkies our way.

Yes. Guddy is not as good as Tanev. That's what the fancy stats say. "Guddy + Edler were good... all things considered" I mean really, Guddy's our second best RHD so it only makes sense, right? Well I think Stecher Edler is a better pairing based on my advanced stats eye test. @Alflives this is all your fault. I'd love it if Joulevi could take Edler's spot playing with Tanev, but I don't see that happening. It's my hope Joulevi can give Guddy a sense of purpose.

Just as Deb just said. And The KM deadline doesn't really matter to anyone. It's just a scare tactic. Negotiations over KM only help to solidify BC's position on other projects in the future. We're not going to be bullied. You actually need us more than we need you in this scenario.
-
Because they were complicit. Not actually, but just because you have a point and I totally hadn't thought that point through. The rest stands though. Why do you hate question marks?
-
That's not really "what should happen". Leaks can happen anywhere along a pipeline. One of our many concerns about these projects is what happens when the leak isn't at a pumphouse but near to, or in a sensitive ecosystem, like a watershed for example. How long does it take to locate the leak when it's not at a monitored / metered jucture? How many litres of oil could dump into a salmon habitat before the leak is plugged? Could money fix that habitat? (the answer to that one is- No) Vancouver is still trying to recoup a very small amount of damages for a spill a few years ago. $550000. That's chump change to these massive oil corps yet Vancouver hasn't seen a dime back. Does this type of behaviour and lack of accountability make us (who actually live on the coast) even more critical and suspicious of these supermega earth raping corps? You bet it does. We now hate them even more than we did last week. Even if Ottawa just crams their crooked pipe right up BC's rear, there's gonna be a massive battle. The optics alone might just be too much for KM given the critisism they're currently facing from some of their largest investors.

No big deal. I said they were a nightmare, you countered with "the experiment went very well". The truth is somewhere in between. That's what this forum is all about- having an opinion, discussing it and being able accept the truth or change your opinion based on other opinions or facts. That's what makes a healthy discussion. As I said earlier, I'm no stranger to being proven wrong. James just pointed out how neither of us were actually "right". I'll live.

Thanks for doing the research, James. So overall, the pairing wasn't amazing, wasn't a nightmare, but something close to average. I'd love it Joulevi came in and got paired with Tanev, I'm just not expecting 2nd pairing from him in Ho's rookie year
-
It was relevant to Alf's assumption that Joulevi SHOULD be paired with Tanev. Was the only reason I mentioned anything about Guddy-Edler. But you're right, I don't remember it being a great pairing, let alone playing together for a quarter season... However, I'm no stranger to being wrong, or mistaken. Edler played some of the best hockey of his life Jan - Apr. If he was paired with Guddy for most of that stretch I'll gladly eat my humble pie
-
So the teams injury woes kept them apart for majority of the season? We really didn't see much of that pairing from what I recall. But then again, I don't remember it being all that effective. You're overreacting with your second statement. I wasn't being definitive, only someone looking for a reason to be all sour would read it as such.

Hearing JB say he only wanted Pettersson to put on muscle and doesn't think his weight is an issue was encouraging for me. I had been a bit concerned about his weight. Given his height, you just want him to be 200lbs though, right? Lots of super skilled, smart, slippery players. Looking forward to seeing this thread moved to "Current Roster"
-
He hasn't played a single game yet, Alf. Also, I think I had a nightmare about an Edler Guddy pairing... Or was that real? Feels like it happened once and it was awful
