  1. Unpopular opinion:

    Reduce schedule to 62 games, home & away with each team.

    Pros:

    -Higher calibre hockey due to reduced fatigue, injuries, over-saturation of games

    -More emphasis on rivalry matches 

    -Every point really matters from day 1

      my idea would be equally unpopular. i'ld propose a baseball type league. with 4, 8 team divisions. seattle in ours. we would play the other 7 teams in our division, 7 times and the 8 teams in the central division 4 times.

      81 games. less travelling and more practise time. we wouldn't see the eastern teams until playoffs. 

      not as good for the fans but better for the players.

      They tried that Joe. People got tired of seeing the same teams, taking 2 years before you'd see a team in the east. I'd be ok with even a high sixties low 70's number of games.

      less games would mean the players would have give money to fit the team's income. i wouldn't if they played less games, but every idea have their own hurdles to overcome.
