  1. I could see Benning trading a forward prospect for a D prospect 1 for 1 this off season

      Goldobin for Madison Bowey?

both aren’t living up to expectations. Always liked Bowey.

      Baertschi+Hutton for Honka+4th?

      Would you do it?

@Alflives - Baer has a lot of value. The guy is a legitimate top six forward and is still young.

Goldobin not so much... I'd take a second for him if offered (similar to what we paid for an underperforming Baer).

  2. That Ethan Bear, and Bear family story in general is pretty cool

  3. Remember when the Canucks used to do their post game interviews on the exercise bikes lmao

Reinhart is having a down year on a very bad team.

I actually think that there's a chance that he gets traded after the season is over.  Most likely for a roster player and a 1st or 2nd depending on the quality of the roster player.

@SabreFan1  I imagine salary negotiations with Buffalo could get nasty i think and go into the regular season. He's not really being used as a C - is that still correct? But he probably wants to be paid like one. Its tough, it would be nice to have a local kid here but at what cost? No way should we give up a 1st for him though, and I'm not sure other than that what Buffalo would want/needs from us for a roster guy.

@Jimmy McGill Reinhart will end up signing a bridge contract with the Sabres if he doesn't get traded away for the asking price.

He can want to be paid like a C all he wants, but his FO% will keep him from ever being paid like one.  He would need at least a full season or so to get that back up to where it needs to be if a team were to trade for him intending to use him as a centre.

  9. Okay that would make sense, I think the reasoning is Benning had Lind ranked in the first round so he couldn't pass up a BPA selection like that.
  10. I really like that last answer
  11. One thing I find very interesting is that there were only 5 Finnish D in the NHL last year, there are only 6 this year
  12. Crawford Out for season time to cash in on Markstrom or Nilsson lololol

    1. HerrDrFunk

      HerrDrFunk

Sure! We just need to invent a time machine so we can send them Nilsson right after he posted two shutouts in three games. Then we might actually get something worthwhile for him.

  13. I honestly think a lot of these "analysts" don't actually watch all teams prospects
  14. Sergei Zubov the most underrated dman of all time

he received more exposure and recognition in his 4 years as a ranger ,than ALL of the defensive core of the oilers in the 80s did combined , never mind all the years he spent in dallas.  eg.  Gerald didick..........I mean I could just go on and on.....about underated defensemen..

I would say Denis Potvin is.

  15. If Heiskanen wasn't around the same time as OJ, OJ would be hyped as the top Finnish D prospect in recent years. One guy I like to point out is John Klingberg, he is 25 and I am sure every single team in the league would have this guy on their top pairing. In John Klingbergs draft +2 year playing in Liiga he posted 3 points in 20 games. The next year he played in the SEL and posted 28 points in 50 games in his D+3 season before playing 3 games in the AHL where registered 1 point. At the age of 22 Klingberg started his draft +4 year in the AHL posting 12 points in 10 games to start the season before being called up to the NHL and putting up 40 points in 65 games. What I am saying is Juolevi has legit potential to be a top pairing D even if he doesn't make the NHL until 22-23 and I think he is pretty underrated around here for what he has done this season.
  16. IMO Switzerland will be the new Slovakia on the international stage of "hockey nations"

If you look at the 13 active Swiss NHL players, only 2 of them were born before 1990, with 9 being 92' or younger, that is not including numerous swiss prospects

  17. Benning doing a great job of drafting guys who can absolutely rip the puck, our offense is going to be ridic in a couple years. Gonna have a lot of options to pick from for complimentary wingers for guys like Horvat and Pettersson. Gadjovich, Virtanen, Lind, Dahlen, Goldolbin all look promising
  18. I'm still happy with the fact we got a national-level calibre of player with our third round pick, cant ask much more than that for a 64th overall pick.. no need to rush the kid, let him marinade in college for 2-3 years then maybe a year in the A and we could have ourself a very good third line player on our hands. Sidenote: Benning has done an outstanding job of creating depth in our forward prospect pool. At least 2 of Lind, Gaudette, Lockwood, Gadjovich, Lockwood, Palmu should be NHL players imo, these are all guys acquired through good drafting outside of the first round, so props to Benning for that.
  19. Won't he be returning to school?
  20. Pre-Back Edler, and prime Salo are two very good players, very good #2, elite #3 Dman who every team needs, not every D we draft is gonna be a Norris candidate who pots 50+ points, but being able to develop Juolevi into a solid 3-4 guy who puts up 30 points is very important
  21. Whats up with all the Belarussians in the WHL this year?

9 players from Belarus have suited up in the WHL this year

Maybe they don't bolt for the KHL? ;)

    3. Baer.

      Baer.

Royals just drafted a Belarusian in the summer... Maybe scouting/coaching has improved in the country? Or maybe the Belarus national team has connections in the dub...

Or maybe the WHL is the best Junior league in the world
