  1. Leafs gonna lose Bozak or JVR ( I doubt both ) Nylander is RFA and gonna be a big raise. Likely Plekanec gone, Polak is gonna need a raise from his 1.1, Komarov needs a new deal, Dominic Moore as well. Could be a very different team next year. That Kadri deal is very good I would take him on the Canucks any day

@coastal.view they'll need to re-sign Matthews, Marner and Gardiner in a year though. Factor in Nylander's big raise this year and all that money will disappear fast.

    3. coastal.view

      coastal.view

i think they will worry more about the matthew and other contract issues

after they see how the team plays next year

and which players need to be moved on

and how much the cap goes up

too many variables for any team to try to plan that all with detail currently

they just have to leave themselves with options to create flexibility

keep those new contracts all without trade restrictive clauses except for the core players

    4. Pears

      Pears

I don’t want Kadri anywhere near this team. I don’t even want him in the same time zone.

  2. anyone got a link to the artemi panarin article?

  3. I think the twins would rather go out on a semi positive note ( 45-50 points ) rather than a dragged out year where the fans can't wait to see them leave (25-35 points)

  4. I wonder what it would take to acquire Lindell from Dallas

    1. Mr.DirtyDangles

      Mr.DirtyDangles

      i like lindell mad potential

  5. Edler plays on the Canucks and he has 5 more points than any D on the Oilers who are playing with Draisaitl, McDavid ect

  6. Benning looking like a genius for the Burrows/Hansen deals, I cant believe how much they have fallen off

    1. HerrDrFunk

      HerrDrFunk

As good as those deals look with the benefit of hindsight, it's a bummer to see.

    2. Coconuts

      Coconuts

I'm more surprised by how Hansen has fallen off, him and the Sharks really haven't been a fit.

  7. Imagine if we won #2 pick and ended up with Patrick

      Where's Wellwood

      He'd be injured.

Have a feeling Benning still would have taken EP.  CDC would have erupted even worse.

    3. Toews

      Toews

Didn't the Canucks have a d-man pretty high on their list as well? I am high on both Makar and Heiskanen, so I would not have been displeased with that outcome.

  8. I could see Benning trading a forward prospect for a D prospect 1 for 1 this off season

      Goldobin for Madison Bowey?

both aren’t living up to expectations. Always liked Bowey.

      RetroCanuck

      Baertschi+Hutton for Honka+4th?

      Would you do it?

    4. Fateless

      Fateless

@Alflives - Baer has a lot of value. The guy is a legitimate top six forward and is still young.

Goldobin not so much... I'd take a second for him if offered (similar to what we paid for an underperforming Baer).

  9. That Ethan Bear, and Bear family story in general is pretty cool

  10. Remember when the Canucks used to do their post game interviews on the exercise bikes lmao

  11. Hutton/Gudbranson + Goldy, third for Reinhart would you do it?

      SabreFan1

Reinhart is having a down year on a very bad team.

I actually think that there's a chance that he gets traded after the season is over.  Most likely for a roster player and a 1st or 2nd depending on the quality of the roster player.

    3. JM_

      JM_

@SabreFan1  I imagine salary negotiations with Buffalo could get nasty i think and go into the regular season. He's not really being used as a C - is that still correct? But he probably wants to be paid like one. Its tough, it would be nice to have a local kid here but at what cost? No way should we give up a 1st for him though, and I'm not sure other than that what Buffalo would want/needs from us for a roster guy.

    4. SabreFan1

      SabreFan1

@Jimmy McGill Reinhart will end up signing a bridge contract with the Sabres if he doesn't get traded away for the asking price.

He can want to be paid like a C all he wants, but his FO% will keep him from ever being paid like one.  He would need at least a full season or so to get that back up to where it needs to be if a team were to trade for him intending to use him as a centre.

  12. Crawford Out for season time to cash in on Markstrom or Nilsson lololol

    1. HerrDrFunk

      HerrDrFunk

Sure! We just need to invent a time machine so we can send them Nilsson right after he posted two shutouts in three games. Then we might actually get something worthwhile for him.

  13. Sergei Zubov the most underrated dman of all time

he received more exposure and recognition in his 4 years as a ranger ,than ALL of the defensive core of the oilers in the 80s did combined , never mind all the years he spent in dallas.  eg.  Gerald didick..........I mean I could just go on and on.....about underated defensemen..

If you look at the 13 active Swiss NHL players, only 2 of them were born before 1990, with 9 being 92' or younger, that is not including numerous swiss prospects

  15. Whats up with all the Belarussians in the WHL this year?

    3. Baer.

      Baer.

Royals just drafted a Belarusian in the summer... Maybe scouting/coaching has improved in the country? Or maybe the Belarus national team has connections in the dub...

Or maybe the WHL is the best Junior league in the world

Id be disappointed if he did and would be very happy if he had 33+

    3. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

Boeser has 91 shots on goal in 33 games. Assuming he continues that pace, he will generate 127 more shots in the next 46 games if he plays them all. Even if you halved his current shooting percentage of 20.9%, he would still be on pace to record 32 goals.

Of course anything can happen, but I fully expect him to finish with more than 25 goals if nothing drastic occurs.

    4. Coconuts

      Coconuts

At this rate I'll be very surprised if he doesn't score at least 30, but 20-25 ain't nothing to sneeze at for any player in this league let alone a rookie.

  17. Don Cherry has forgotten more about hockey than most people will ever know, even though you can barely understand him now he still makes a lot of great points. Gonna be sad when he's gone

  18. Can anyone tell me how many points Horvat had at this time last year? I remember him having a slow start.

    2. Odd.

      Odd.

he also had a slow start again this year with 2 points in 7 or 8 games? I guess he's generally a slow starter. Even in his 2nd year i think he had like 7 points in the first 32 games and then finished the year with 40 points.

    3. Odd.

      Odd.

If he can consistently put up 55-60 points every year, that's absolutely solid. I think he's on pace for 57-60 points this season too.

    4. Nuxfanabroad

      Nuxfanabroad

Predict he'll fit into a 60~70 pt avg(for a decade) when we're younger, faster, deeper & more skilled.

      From about 2019, fwd->

  19. How has Artrom Minulin gone undrafted 2 years straight?

    1. Odd.

      Odd.

ive been wondering that too. He was actually only eligible for the 2017 one cause late birthday. Probably something went down behind closed doors otherwise i can't see a reason why he would be passed up.

  20. I feel embarrassed seeing our arena 3000 seats empty... On the other hand, lower the ticket prices a bit and then you'll have the core fans being able to go

its worse there... they have the best D man in the game and were in the playoffs and still couldn't sell out. We're in purgatory and still outselling some US markets. Its bad, but there's hope.

sens owner is a greedy pos. Canucks are absurdly overpriced def wont  paying 130 for decent tickets  last yr   watching them mail it vs ducks  at least boeser, bo, goldy and tryamkin were trying rest of team mailed it in.

No fans are gonna support a bad team whos owner overcharges they really should lower the ticket prices  get more people in stands

  21. I totally forgot Flames have Hamonic now

  22. Making the playoffs in 14/15 was meant to happen, it put us in the position to get Boeser

JB said almost identical things about Boeser and Lind during.their respective drafts.

Thinking Lind turns out to be as much of a steal as Boeser. Well, hoping.

I firmly believe that is Hodgson hadn't had such a dick head for a father and stayed a Canuck, he would have turned into a 60-70 pt player. Vancouver would have had the strongest center depth in the league.
