I generally think we should move on, but I would never say anything to disparage Sutter. He has been nothing but class. He has worked hard and done whatever was asked. The injuries are not his fault, he got unlucky when he got here.

Carolina has a much better d than Detroit though.

I don't have a proposal but I think these two would round out the bottom 6 really well and give us some depth. They wouldn't cost much capwise.

They only signed the new goalie for 2 years. This could be to give Wallstedt time? Trade for an nhl ready goalie does not at all preclude them from drafting the best goalie available.

So they have added 7.4 million for 38 and 39 year olds, lost their best defensive player (29) for 4 million, gave up a 3rd and Caleb Jones? I don't like Edmonton, but I am starting to just feel sorry for the fans. If JB did this he would get death threats.

I don't know why there are so many cynical, sarcastic, nasty posters who claim to be fans but just crap on our team every chance they get. I know we have some overpaid guys. I know we are in a capcrunch to improve. Get over it. We just lost Lind who nobody projected in our starting 12 on opening day. Not a big loss considering. I for one am pumped about next year. I love EP, Boes, Horvat, Hughes, Miller, Demko, Schmidt. Can't wait to see OJ, Rathbone, Hogz, Motte become bigger contributors. Dickinson is a great add. I think Myers and Pearson are much better contributors than CDC give them credit for. I wish we had a chance to enjoy Ferland. I think Podz will be an instant coach and fan favourite. Overall, I actually like the construction of the team. We need RHD and more center depth. We have some cap space this year and will have lots next year. This is a team to get excited about.

What would they offer for Eichel? 2021 2OA, 2022 1st, and?

Point is, there are no Norris candidates here at this point and we have 4 NHL LHD and 1 NHL RHD. Only Larsson is a big miss and there was no guarantee we would have signed him anyway.

Dunn RFA, Fleury RFA, Giordano 6.75 mil and 38 yrs old, Larsson would have been nice, Oleksiak in demand LHD will be overpaid. Let's all settle down and remember these are the players teams didn't protect.

The expansion draft sucks. We lose someone we have pinned some hopes on. However, nobody had Lind penned in to the NHL roster this year. I live in Kelowna and really wanted to cheer for Kole. But if this is what we lose from this awful process, JB managed this pretty well.

Why wouldn't Larsson wait for the open market? 4 million seems like his minimum on the open market?

This is just another example of somebody making something up that kind of makes sense. "Experts" take the same path we do to say, if Price is taken, what would Bergevin do with the cap space? Then draw some conclusions and state it like it's inside info. It could happen but this dufus is full of it.

I really think Schmidt is a valued asset and we shouldn't sell low. I think he should be given a chance to take Edler's spot on the left side. Rathbone and OJ are not ready to take top 4 minutes. We also need at least 8 nhl dmen for injuries so 4 LHD is fine. He is too versatile and team oriented and good to let go. I think the talk of him wanting out is overblown. Green needs to make it clear he will be used differently. Hughes Larson/Hamonic/Savard Schmidt Hakanpaa/Ceci OJ Myers Rathbone Bowey I think this would be a very strong group and would allow Schmidt to be Schmidt. I love Edler, but I thought he looked very slow last season and his decision making has declined.

Can the Canucks just cancel his contract and get the cap back? Has he breached his contract?

The additions of Dickinson and Podz make a big improvement. I love that third line. Motte has better offensive upside than most think and all have high motors.

Forgot to mention doesn't have to live in Edmonton.

With all the crap JB takes I think he and his team did a very good job managing the assets to get to this point. There is nobody on this list that will affect the team greatly if we lose them and we might get lucky and gain some meaningful cap space.

I am not convinced that Schmidt wants out. Nor am I convinced that we should trade him. Defensemen of his quality are not easy to find. I think we should let him go back to LHD and give him someone to work with. He was at his best with McNabb. Give him Hamonic, Ceci or Hakanpaa or someone like that and let him play. He will be great. We should be adding/building not subtracting. I would only trade him if it makes us overall better. A real hockey trade. A lot of the proposals I have seen are based on him wanted to leave not based on the real value of a legit 2-3 NHL defenseman. Hughes Savard/Larson Schmidt Hamonic/Ceci/Hakanpaa OJ Myers
