I don't believe there is a single gm in the league who would trade Boeser for Granlund straight up. Boeser is scoring as the 18th highest player at his position at even and Granlund is 77th. Unfortunately the career stats nor season stats back you up. I am not overvaluing Boeser, i am giving you actual statistics and you keep countering with exaggerated opinions like "way more" and "way" off base.
-
Granlund has averaged .66 ppg in his career, Boeser .78 ppg. By what measure has he produced way more? Canuck fans are ridiculous, as soon as they determine a guy should be traded for these miraculous draft picks, they forget his value entirely. Even in a down year for him where he is on the 2nd line PP, Boeser is the 24th overall scorer for RW. He is 18th at even strength. Mikael Granlund is the 77th highest scoring Center.

I am clearly in the minority here. I think we may have overpaid a bit, but we have been saying we need top 4 rhd and we got one. It is the toughest thing to get these days and you have to overpay a bit. He also happens to be a 25 year old top 20 scoring defensemen. Hughes, EP, and Demko will all be in there prime over the next 5 years. Anybody who thinks any of them want to play here long term if we gut the team and hope some draft picks turn out is not thinking. I really like what the team has done overall in the past 2 weeks. Out Horvat Stillman Schenn Lockwood 2nd 7th In Beauvillier Hronek Raty Kravtsov Bloom 3rd 4th We couldn't/wouldn't pay Horvat what he wanted and I think our team and prospects have improved. I think Allvin has done nice work overall.
-
So we have added: Beauvillier Signed Kuzmenko Raty Kravtsov Bloom NYI 1st Tor 3rd Given up Horvat Lockwood Stillman Schenn 7th Only Horvat matters at all and we didn't want him at 8.5 x 7. I hated how Rutherford and Allvin handled Boudreau and Horvat, but this is some pretty tidy business.

[Rumour] Time's up! Finish your last sentence...

McGinn on waivers, maybe Pittsburgh is moving salary for Miller. He would fit well with their team for the next few years and he is from the area. Pittsburgh has all but 1 of their picks over the next 4 years. There could be a solid deal between these teams. -
Podkolzin Hoglander Raty Klimovich Lekkerimaki Silovs DPetey McDonough Kravtsov Karlsson Jurmo Bloom Forsell That's where I think the team would rank them in terms of trade value around the league. I think Lekkerimaki and Kravtsov have the best chance to make big moves up the rankings.

[Proposal] Vancouver - Washington
Dixon Ward replied to Ralph.'s topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I think it is safe to say we all think Boeser is a great person/teammate. I think it is also safe to say he has underperformed this year. However, it is also important to note that, while underperforming, he is still the 15th highest scoring RW in the league. He is 22nd overall with limited pp time. He is heating up right now and, I think, will be a top 15 scoring RW in the league by season's end. So in a league that has roughly 128 players playing RW he is top 20 for sure. This means he is a 1st line RW. He is the 17th highest paid RW in the league and has been the 15th highest scoring RW over the past 4.5 years. I am not saying we should not move him for the right package, just that we should discuss him like a top line player and not like a cap dump. -
I am not suggesting that he hasn't improved, but he looks a hell of a lot more motivated to score this year than he ever has. He is on pace to destroy all of his personal bests. After 9 years of slow steady growth.

I am a big fan of Horvat, but prior to his contract year he averaged .75 pts per game over 4 years. This year he is over a pt per game. I feel like he is giving his all for a bigger contract. Which, in turn, means he didn't give his all prior to that. Other than the last 50 games he is worth 6.5-7 mil. This contract will take him well past his prime. The Isles overpaid. Miller has averaged over a pt per game for 4 years and even in an off year is still well above Bo's typical average. Miller signed for 500k less than Bo. Other than the relatively poor communications work by the front office, this was good business based on the information at hand.

I think people greatly underestimate the mental stress of moving overseas, learning a new culture, language, hockey systems, food, coaching styles, smaller rink, loneliness, etc... for a 19-20 year old. Jurmo said he is the most driven player he knows, let the Sedins nurture that for a bit.
-
Interesting player. I looked at his hockeydb page and first, it's his birthday today so Happy Birthday, Matthew!!! Second, he is 3 full years younger than anyone else on his team and he is leading them in scoring, pretty impressive.

David Reinbacher, rhd, might be an interesting choice in the mid teens of the the 1st round. He has size and plays in all situations as a 17 year old in a men's league. I will be tracking him for the rest of the year

Raty's draft +1 year in Liiga puts him right there with Lundell and Teravainen as 19 year old scorers. He is a very strong prospect. We have to remember that every prospect doesn't have to be like Petey or Hughes. Getting a really good 2nd or 3rd line centre is a very valuable asset. I look at our pool right now as Forwards with a strong chance of becoming a regular in the nhl Raty Podkolzin Hoglander Lekkerimaki Forwards with a medium chance of becoming a regular in the nhl McDonough Karlsson Klimovich Aman Lockwood honorable mention Forsell, Lockhart Defensemen with a strong chance of becoming a regular in the nhl n/a Defensemen with an outside chance of becoming a 4-6th Dman in the nhl Jack Rathbone Filip Johansson Elias Pettersson Jacob Truscott Joni Jurmo Jett Woo Seems clear what we need to do at the deadline and at the draft.

I find this guy really interesting. He doesn't bring a lot of offense, but he is leading an SHL team in icetime every time I check and with 22+ minutes. His coach obviously trusts him and I hope we see him at next year's camp.

[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at San Jose Sharks | Nov. 27, 2022
Dixon Ward replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
I presume JR talked to some of the team leaders about firing Bruce and they all said they love playing for him. The Aquaman said he didn't want to pay 3 coaches. So they leave it with Bruce and he's making it work. -
I had great respect for Rutherford before he came here. However, he seems to talk like he's a spectator and not a part of the team. I think Boudreau is a class act and has earned respect as a coach. If you don't want him, fire him, but JR needs to stop lobbing bombs to undermine players and coaches and roll up his sleeves and do something.

I think the teams biggest problem is moving the puck out of their zone to the forwards. Bear for a 5th is a low risk effort to improve that. I love the effort of Burroughs, Juulsen, Brisebois, but having them plus Schenn moving the puck is not a recipe for success in the NHL. When Hughes is back, things get a whole lot better, and hopefully Bear and Dermott can improve that part of our team.

[PGT] Carolina Hurricanes at Vancouver Canucks | Oct. 24, 2022
Dixon Ward replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
I was at the game. Most forwards were working their butts off. The defense were doing what they could. Carolina is a very good team. The major glaring difference between the 2 teams was the passing out of their own end. Canes, hit 95% of their passes on the tape of a forward at pace. Nucks hit 15%. Our d's passing was atrocious. The Canes saw this and stepped up the pressure and it got worse. If you give the puck away constantly, you will lose. We need Hughes, Stillman, Dermot and/or Poolman back and then we need to add a rhd who can pass and handle 22 min per night. Garland, Hoglander, Pearson, and any prospect not named Lekkerimaki should be available. -
I see him listed at 6'1", 181, he looks bigger than that. His shot looks solid and his is playing a lot of minutes in the SHL. Could be a sneaky good pickup for us.

[Waivers] 9 players - Oct. 06, 2022
Dixon Ward replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Koekoek 10th OA and Andersson 7th OA. Virtanen, Dal Colle, Juolevi, Alex Nylander, Griffin Reinhart, DerricK Pouliot, and those are just some of the one's in the top 10. Everybody always wants to trade this guy or that guy for picks. While it is true that building through the draft is important, but it is also very important not to overvalue a 1st round pick.
