  1. I just geeked out on this, but here are the ppg of all the players from Brock's draft class who have played in the nhl. He is looking good but obviously a small sample size. 2. Is it just me or does anybody else want to compare Lias Anderson (4 pts in 10 games) to Petersson all season? We have the Lind vs. Glass thing and this one. At this point Elias is kicking ass on Anderson, but there is a lot of season left and Anderson has more experience at SHL level. Sure feels good though. They are even talking about Elias for the Olympic team. That would be cool for us and another great experience for the guy.
  3. He seems to be good at getting his shot through traffic. Not a wicked shot just timely and get through.
  4. I live in Kelowna and have seen both Lind and Benn play junior. Benn was the best player I have seen in our arena. He was so good he could coast for a while and then take over when the Rockets needed goals. He could also throw punches when needed. Draisaitl also played here but Benn was better. I would be cautious in proclaiming who Lind will be but he does look like he could make Benning look really good.
  5. So far the strategy of letting him go straight back to the SHL and skip NHL training camp is paying off. He got comfortable and could focus on getting better, not all the hype from Canucks' fans who want him to be the savior right now. Cody Glass will be a very good nhler, but I don't think he has this level of skill.
  6. I think folks need to settle down a bit on Olli. He is getting settled. He may not be a #1 defenseman, but he still has a great chance. He is not 20 until May or something. Let him have a year playing with men. If he turns out to be our awesome #2 for the next 12 years, then it is a great pick. Remember, in his draft year he won everything, he was unstoppable. He was considered by most the best defenseman available. Sergachev may be better in the short term, but we'll see in the long term. I still like the pick.
  7. Thanks, I missed that thread somehow.
  8. No comments on Boucher since September 27th. He is leading Utica in scoring with 8 points in 5 games. Suprised this doesn't bring him a bit of attention on CDC. Have people given up on him? Also interesting, look who is between our boys in AHL scoring, Elias' brother Emil! 12 Reid Boucher LW UTI 5 2 6 8 -1 0 2 0 1.60 0.00 16 0 0 0 0.0 13 Emil Pettersson C MIL 5 2 6 8 3 2 0 1 1.60 0.40 10 0 0 0 0.0 14 Nikolay Goldobin LW UTI 5 3 4 7 1 0 1 0 1.40 0.00 7 0 0 0 0.0
  9. The battle between Glass and Lind is completely made up by Canuck fans and is meaningless. But it feels good that maybe we might get lucky every once in awhile. Our drafting over the years has shown an almost complete lack of luck. If Lind does better or even just as well this year it will just feel good. Plus we still have Petersson who will be better than both of them imho.
  10. The player many were fawning over in the Summer Showcase and saying is better than Petersson was Lias Andersson. He has 2 points in 6 games in the SHL for Frolunda. I don't know if he has been injured or benched or why he missed games (team has played 11) but he only has 2 points. Petersson has 8 points in 9 games. I have no doubt that they will both be excellent players but I am glad we have Petersson, he seems to have other-worldly vision. That cannot be taught.
  11. Juolevi needs to play against men. I wish it were the AHL or SHL but the Finnish League will be better for him than the OHL, IMHO. I think the homecooking and language will probably be a welcome relief for him as well. Relax and focus on preparing for a long term job in the NHL, not on what fickle Canuck fans are thinking about your moment by moment stats in London.
  12. Puljujarvi, the guy we were all praying for, got sent down. Dubois may still. Defense is much more difficult position to come into the league at 19. Just ask Thomas Chabot who is a year older and got sent down today. I'm sure he and the Ottawa fans are disappointed but he is by no means a bust. We will be cheering for OJ for years to come we just don't know exactly when it will start.
  13. I wish he could just sneak up on it without the pressure. I don't want him to start with expectations and a target on his back.
  14. It will be very interesting to see if Elias can ramp up his ppg as the season goes on. As his coach and teammates get used to how to use his "particular set of skills". His confidence and comfort will also grow. I predict he will finish above 1 ppg.
  15. Only Kent Nilsson, Peter Forsberg, Markus Maslund and Tomas Gradin were ppg players or better in their 19 yr old seasons in the SHL. Alexander Wennberg who was excellent last year had 21 pts in 50 games as a 19 yr old. He had 59 points last year in 80 games. Elias could be special.
  16. Outscore Cody Glass and do well on the World Junior Team. That's all I want for Christmas!
  17. That's pretty cool, wasn't Dahlin on that team? He can do things that not many Canucks since 1970 could do. If he can translate that at the NHL level, it might be the steal of the draft. He needs some pounds and a bit more speed.
  18. Where did you see that the coach of Sweden said this? That would be interesting.
  19. I think he will start out around 60% and then, as he gets used to the league and his linemates, he will take off in the second half and finish aroun 90%
  20. I would like to see OJ earn a spot and make it impossible to send him down. If he doesn't I hope he goes back to Finland for the year rather than another year in OHL.
  21. I am not sure if what you're saying is correct. The level of hockey has increased across the board and so many more countries are producing quality players. Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, etc.. Kopitar is from Slovenia. The overall pool is much deeper so it stands to reason that each league would likely be better not worse. I am not an expert nor am I saying you are wrong, just that there are arguments both ways. All I want is for Pettersson, who appears to have elite level skill, to develop without some assanine comments from cdcer's who didn't even see the games based on his ppg. I think he will be a great player, Niklas Backstromesque.
  22. Peter Forsberg had 28 points in 39 games in his draft plus 1 year in the SHL Henrik Sedin had 47 points in 50 games Zetterberg had 34 points in 32 games W. Nylander had 21 points in 20 games Alfredsson had 18 in 22 Sundin had 18 in 34 This is not a pushover league. Sundin and Forsberg had pretty good careers but put up pretty mediocre numbers in the year after their draft. Let's not put the pressure on Petersson that he needs to be a point a game or better or he is a bust. Just let him develop.
  23. I thought it was crazy he wasn't on in the first place. It would be an awesome world juniors if we had 2 or 3 guys on Canada and 2 on Sweden.
