  1. So we are giving up a top 6 RW, a top 4 RHD, a top 9 LW, and our top d prospect for a big LHD (which OEL and Hughes play) and a 3rd line C? This sucks IMHO. Hopefully Allvin is a better GM than this.
  2. I just love the 2015 draft. The 3 picks by Boston and then the 3 right after them. Let's hope, if we don't make the playoffs, that there's a Barzal, Connor or Chabot available. 1 13 Boston Jakub Zboril D Saint John Sea Dogs [QMJHL] 54 0 12 12 22 2021-22 1 14 Boston Jake DeBrusk L Swift Current Broncos [WHL] 315 90 82 172 65 2021-22 1 15 Boston Zachary Senyshyn R Soo Greyhounds [OHL] 16 1 2 3 4 2021-22 1 16 NY Islanders Mathew Barzal C Seattle Thunderbirds [WHL] 356 90 214 304 192 2021-22 1 17 Winnipeg Kyle Connor L Youngstown Phantoms [USHL] 379 174 164 338 88 2021-22 1 18 Ottawa Thomas Chabot D Saint John Sea Dogs [QMJHL] 309 41 143 184 150 2021-22
  3. I agree with all of this. Also, I get tired of all the Myers bashing. He has been played at top 4 minutes by every coach he has ever had. He isn't a big point producer and can have a few blunders, but overall is a very good number 3-4 guy. I also think that this team is clearly a playoff team if they can beat the Stars handily without Horvat, Hoglander, Pearson and with an entirely AHL 4th line. The beginning of the year sucked and we have Green and Petersson to thank for it. But one's gone and one is back so Go Canucks Go!
  4. Home from the game. Highmore, Lamikko, Lockwood played great and worked crazy hard.
  5. Not because he scored 4 points, but because of how he got 4 points, creative, gutsy, confident, I feel like he is finally back. Now he and the team need to figure out how to get him playing like that from game 1. If he was this player all year we are a playoff team.
  6. True, but we have enough facts that he wanted out of NYI, then he opted out of the bubble, then he signed a contract but wouldn't get vaccinated. The rest of it is speculation, but I have questioned his commitment to the team almost from day 1. Anyway, you are right the the negativity doesn't achieve anything now that he is gone.
  7. I agree that there is nothing gained by this exercise, but Hamonic's "me-first" attitude had worn thin with everybody. This goes back to NYI and the Flames. He has every right to choose other things over loyalty and commitment to his team, but he gets paid more per year than all of us in a lifetime and he only has to work part time. This is an incredible privilege and he seems to think that it's too much of a burden for him. If that's true, fine, don't sign a contract and stay home, you have enough money. But I think it is reasonable for fans to criticize his lack of commitment to the team as he was eating up a good deal of cap space.
  8. For about 25 games they looked like one of the best teams in the league. We can agree that they are very inconsistent. We can agree that they have holes. However, I am a Canucks fan, I just want to cheer for my team and hope they win. I don't want to spend all my time disliking them and presuming they will lose.
  9. I am not excited about the results of this deadline, but I do think the team is incrementally better off overall. Now let's go make the playoffs. I'd like to see this. Lotto Pearson Horvat Garland Hogz Dick Podz Highmore Richardson Lammikko OEL Myers Hughes Schenn Dermott Poolman/Juulsen/Burroughs Go Canucks Go!
  10. Hamonic, when he played was a solid 4th guy. However we moved from around 80-82nd in the 3rd round to 65-67th and save 1.5 in cap and improved our left side and got younger. Anybody who doesn't like this at least a bit is just a whiner.
  11. All this talk about moving Boeser or Garland. I see it this way. Boeser is younger, bigger, and has averaged .79 ppg in his young career. He is owed 7.5 million next year. Garland has averaged .59 ppg but has a bigger heart and is on an excellent contract. Garland is exactly the type of player, on exactly the type of contract we want. If Boeser would sign for 5.25 or less then it might be a toss up which player to move, but with the salaries taken into account, it has to be Boeser. Plus he will also fetch a bigger return.
  12. I wouldn't trade Garland for Boquist straight up. Including Rathbone makes it atrocious.
  13. There is something so wrong about watching Ovechkin celebrate and enjoy his grand life in the NHL and the freedom he has while his buddy is murdering thousands of people and destroying cities and lives. He has helped this sociopath build his propaganda machine and now he shows he is a gutless piece of human waste by carrying on with his life and not denouncing Putin. For those wearing his jersey and cheering for him, you are total idiots.
  14. Why isn't the crowd booing Ovechkin constantly for being a mass murderer's propaganda-spreading buddy?
  15. I would like to say how much I like Tyler Myers and Tanner Pearson. I think they are quality people who do a lot that the average fan doesn't see. I think Pearson's defensive awareness helps whatever line he's on. I think Myers is a bit overpaid but you won't find too many rhd that play 23 min. Per night that are paid much less. These are 2 players that seem to be much maligned, but they are great teammates, solid contributors, and they love being Canucks. Losing either one would leave a big hole, IMHO.
  16. Individual Russians should not be banned from doing anything, unless they publicly support Putin's actions or spread propaganda about it. There is clearly no justification for this and if anybody speaks up for Putin, they should not be welcome in any competitions. All international competitions (Olympics, World Cups, Tennis, etc...) should immediately ban Russia from competing. They have shown, as a nation in a coordinated way, that they cheat all the time and now they have shown that they don't belong in the world order.
  17. I think Garland is a heart and soul player. We need more like him not less. I think they are likely dangling Hoglander instead, Boudreau is not a fan.
  18. Forsell got 2 goals today!
  19. Myrenberg with 3 assists today!
  20. My point is that for a young man, you can make a stand on whatever you want, but then you have to deliver. I think he put too much pressure on himself with his comments and then he was behind the team because of missing camp and then he lost his mental edge. You can complain about the coach but if he leaves you better bring it, and he still isn't. He portrays himself as a superstar, there's a lot of pressure when you're a superstar.
  21. I think his cocky stand of holding out of training camp, that statement he made that he just wants to play for a winner, and then actually missing training camp has played tricks with his ego. His confidence is in the toilet. Boudreau is helping but you can see him second guessing everything he does. He has never been the fastest guy but his brains and hands were faster than everyone else. Now those are letting him down because he has the yips. If he gets it figured out and plays anywhere close to what he can, the Canucks will be a force.
  22. His positioning and passing looked good to me. Although I only saw a little more than half of it.
