  1. I really didn't understand the Biagini swap for Cecil. Lefty against lefty but ignore the stats apparently, they were saying after the game the batter he faced was actually worse against right handed pitchers statistically. Biagini was actually in control and striking guys out. Cecil, the last time I saw him anyway, blew a lead by allowing a home run. From what I've seen Biagini is our most skilled reliever (besides maybe Osuna) right now. Pulling him out seemed foolish. Judging by the comments here it isn't just me, I feel the most confident that we'll get outs by a reliever if he's in there than anyone else really. (Grilli has been good too). Anyway, definitely a frustrating game to watch. I literally turned it on after work right when it was the 6th inning. "Oh great, 2-0 Jays" I thought. Then... yeah...
  2. Estrada was mediocre yet again and I hope they just put him on the DL if his back is still nagging him, he isn't useful giving up 5+ runs every time as a starter. That being said, our O needs to stop the jekyll and hyde $&!#. It seems half the games I watch they're blowing the other team out of the water, the other half they're scoring 2 or fewer runs. We have the skill to do better than that.
  3. Liriano on the mound next, don't have much confidence in him so far but hope he'll prove me wrong.
  4. 9/10. The Netflix movie "Beasts of no nation". Not for the faint of heart, but a deeply challenging and thought provoking film told from the perspective of a young boy whose family gets destroyed in an unnamed African nation during a civil war, and his experiences as he ends up getting recruited as a child soldier in order to survive. The directing and the acting were exceptional. Trailer:
  5. My question is, half of the games on the front page of Canucks.com, the Canucks highlights just point to the Youtube channel's videos. Sometimes though, they point to nhl.com highlights. Is it just random which source it chooses? I ask because the nhl.com video playback is completely broken if you use an ad blocker, which if you want to save load time, battery life, and not get tons of malware, is kind of essential these days.
  6. The forums look great and a lot more modern now, great update canucks.com team. No problems here. Edit: I didn't keep track of my post count so no idea if I lost any like others here
  7. I think at this point we can all safely say that Jordan Schroeder came up a little short so to speak... time to ship him off for pick(s).
  8. Some things never change on CDC. People biting on obvious trolling attempts is one of them
  9. Since lightweight, soft finesse players like the Sedins have helped us so much in this new divsion so far? Nope... if we're going to compete against teams like LA and the Sharks we need to be big and mean.
  10. Right, I'd rather our management keep things private and professional than blabbing to the media about it. Look at Ottawa, I've been reading numerous stories the last few weeks about how desperate they are to trade Spezza (quotes from their GM even). Everyone now knows it and Ottawa's bargaining position is crappier because of it.
  11. No, not back peddling at all. I think the Canucks can be a playoff team by adding some youth (maybe an NHL ready player this draft? A return for Kesler too?) into the roster and some better injury luck. Apparently you're presuming otherwise, and I guess we can agree to disagree on that. Edit: As evidence for my opinion, I point toward our injury plagued season, our coach using the team the wrong way (we aren't a gritty shot blocking team, let's face it), and division re-alignment. All this considered, we were merely 10 pts out of playoff contention. I don't see it as inevitable at all that the Canucks will be missing the playoffs next season, as our most disastrous season since the end of the Naslund era we were merely 5 wins out of the post season.
  12. Umm, it bolsters their credentials? Would you rather hire a coach that just got knocked out of the first round of a tournament? I'm not sure where in my post you got "it's implied a new coach will make us contenders"--seems more like you're making shit up to attack my position.
  13. NHL.com is reporting it and so is McKenzie. McKenzie has never really steered me wrong, so save for some epic meltdown in negotiations in the end, that's confirmation enough for me. I'm excited for this new coach. He's had *recent* playoff success and it sounds like he definitely deserves a shot in the NHL. I definitely wasn't wanting Bylsma given his recent postseason track record.
  14. You guys still saying "give Booth a chance!" are just kidding yourselves. Booth sucks.
  15. An injury prone 5'8" centerman? Yeah, I don't think we'll be competing with teams like St Louis Anaheim and LA with players like that. Get rid of him.
  16. Never say never. The Canucks have done a great job of pissing away 2 star goaltenders recently.
  17. Sure he only showed it on the stats sheet the most last year, but Edler has been crappy ever since he signed his contract. Casual in his own end, frequently out of position while the opponent taps the puck in with impunity. I don't care if he can potentially score 40ish pts, if the puck is going into our net when he's on the ice, he's a liability. I thought we could get a great return for Edler, it's disappointing to see that we'll likely be seeing another year of mediocrity from him. Edit: What are we 12? Why not just censor cursing regularly instead of inserting misspelled words?
  18. Sounds fairly easy in retrospect since the Sedins sucked last season. Remember Richards was in a massive slump the last couple years and St Louis didn't have a good regular season (with the Rangers anyway). I think many were surprised by how they re-found their form.
  19. He's in his prime and he was on pace for 15+ goals, and has hit 20 before. Top on team +-, good two-ways and with puck battles. Our team was *winning* and on a roll when he was in the line up. I don't understand why we wouldn't want to give him another chance. He had an injury and we lacked scoring / depth last year, but unless he wants a massive contract, I don't get why we'd ditch him. What exactly did our other 3rd/2nd borderline players do last year for us? I seem to remember Hansen and Burrows sucking. The other wingers were kind of a revolving door it seemed besides Higgins.
  20. He sounded fine to me. And please no Bob "I'm 90 years old and 5 seconds behind every call" Cole. Anyway, it looked to me like Habs just ran out of gas. It was a good series but I'm glad to see AV win it. Also I have to say that Tokarski while having a shaky first NHL playoff game, looked amazing for the situation he was thrust into since that. That guy is going to be a good NHL starter some day... I just hope he isn't stuck behind Price as long as Schneider was stuck behind Luongo.
  21. Uuughhhhh when will Bob Cole just retire already. Sick of the announcing being 5 seconds behind the play constantly.
  22. Well "former moderator" canuckster, you come across as a self righteous, condescending douche bag from your posts. I'd like to see evidence that Canucks management ever cares / acts on such a "rumour mongering" forum such as this. I seriously doubt you could provide any such evidence and it just sounds like a bunch of whining over a forum that doesn't make club decisions. Oh well.
  23. I've been rooting for AV and the New York Rangers like Bieksa. That goal by Martin St. Louis was pretty much the perfect shot, fired by a world class player. St. Louis will be in the hockey hall of fame some day, he's fought and earned for everything he's got and he's been at a disadvantage his entire NHL career. Undrafted--what a joke in retrospect.
  24. Yes I'm sure the utterly useless no heart Euro-player Vanek will score a hat trick suddenly after being terrible / put on the 4th line Also, did anyone see http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=720617&navid=DL|NHL|home I didn't really have a favourite team in this series, but the cry baby whining the Habs coach is doing really makes me want AV to win now. "Mommmm, the other head coach sent some of his assistants to view our practiccccce, it's not faiiiir"
