  1. lol gosh Trevor Linden still looks nervous in his new role--but he's sincere. And this Benning guy, I've liked what he's said so far. He seems fairly bold but also seems experienced in how he came about to the GM role. It will be an interesting season--and I hope for fans and Linden's sake alike it's an improvement off last season. I'm fairly sure it will be
  2. Injury issues are certainly a concern this season I should hope. Given all the bloody injuries on the Canucks, I think player durability / iron man-esque style of play should be a major factor in picking our prospects. Even if that means we merely get a 20-30 goal scorer instead of a 30-40 goal scorer. Injuries have completely destroyed this team recently. Edit: I'm sure Linden's direction for the team and who the next coach is going to be will be a major factor too.
  3. rofl @ Lucic calling Weise a baby for calling him on it. Wow, the sore loser makes an inappropriate comment and is unsportsmanlike, but if someone mentions it to the media (who have all the video & likely would've caught it anyway as Ward pointed out on TSN), *they're* the baby. Someone get this loser a tissue for crying out loud. Wah, a 4th liner outplayed me.
  4. Yeah if the top tier gets that sort of money, Kane & Toews will get it. They're pretty much the standard of cup winning top liners these days.
  5. Give that Avs team 3-4 years their team is on a massive upswing already. From bottom of the basement to a significant playoff opponent. Sure Roy was brilliant, but all the pieces are there too. Colorado has a lot of players in their early 20s or even before that just getting started. They'll be a contender in the NHL fairly soon I suspect
  6. Yes I think they're the most talented team in the league right now with the lineup.... and at often bargain prices as the cap goes up.
  7. So what about Varlamov's breakout year makes you think he isn't the long term answer? He's entered his prime and was an elite goaltender this season...
  8. From my point of view the crowd was just confused. They saw a piece of garbage down there already (Lucic) and thought that was the garbage bin. Can't blame them.
  9. Disrespectful in general. Do I feel bad? Nah, I actually had a laugh over it. Lucic dished out far more painful things than that like spears to the groin, he'll get over it.
  10. Hahahah @ the garbage thrown on Lucic as he leaves the ice. Classic.
  11. It never ceases to amaze me how the NHL is swimming in millions of dollars yet they can never seem to get a portable mic for the refs that works more than 50% of the time...
  12. I've seen numerous trolls from Vancouver on the internet too. It happens everywhere man, there's always trolls from all big cities.
  13. Pretty sure it was just a few stupid trolls and kids who aren't very familiar with the Bruins team and jumped on it. I hate the Bruins, but let's not attribute clear trolling to the typical fan over there.
  14. Ah okay. Yeah, like I said in the earlier post I'm not a huge Habs fan and maybe see 2-3 games of theirs a year. I'm aware of Subban but if that's business as usual for him, fair enough.
  15. I like how you actually keep track of it, it's always irritating seeing that stuff live and sort of noting it, but if an argument comes up never having a reference for it. Keep up the good work bro!
  16. Did anyone else notice how Subban after his OT goal seems to not react emotionally at all? Seriously, that was some stone faced stuff there... maybe I'm just crazy but I thought that was fairly strange, given Subban is usually a very passionate guy and the gravity of the goal he just scored.
  17. Those people are seriously openly calling Subban the N word on Twitter with their real names / pics attached? Man, I hate how society has become so public any employers can look up your name on Facebook and see personal details, but for these knuckleheads I think they actually deserve it. How incredibly stupid. Also, while I'm no huge Habs fan, I'm certainly NOT a fan of Boston and their ratty players like Milan "I spear men in the groin from behind" Lucic and Brad "I love clipping respectable players to injure" Marchand. So I guess I'm glad the Habs won here. Haha.
  18. Kings in 4, they're the greatest team in NHL history and I'm their biggest fan now.
  19. Look, I think it was a blown call too. Even if it was "technically" not the goalie crossing the line with the puck as the rule stipulates, he was pushed a good 1-1.5 feet until the puck squeeked out. I think it should've been whistled down. Also, I think the refs have personal biases that they hold internally and I also think that refs take instructions on "how to call a game" in general. If the league wants to crack down on a certain sort of infraction, for instance. I also think the Campbell being an exec with power over the series his son was in was a total croc too. I just don't think the league fixes the games and I don't think there's any evidence for it. San Jose, with its dangerous PP, with all the PP opportunities when it was a tied game including a 5on3... why would they do that if there was some overarching conspiracy to make LA win? Certainly you don't argue the entire Sharks team is in on it too and backed off or something. Anyway, I think the reffing is bad and inconsistent, but I don't think fixing. I think that's silly.
  20. Oh so that's why they gave the Sharks the only PPs in the 2nd period when the game was tied (including a lengthy 5on3); they were just waiting for the Sharks to choke as planned so they could give the LA Kings that cheesy miscall in the 3rd. Makes sense.
  21. Apparently in their world they think the NHL is so tunnel visioned that they'll let one team win a completely fixed game to gain a few new fans from an already recent championship team, in exchange; they're fine with sending the league's reffing reputation down into the gutter with fans of pretty much every other franchise, all sports writers except in LA, etc. Totally makes sense, am I right?
  22. A few points for all the people screaming "omg totally fixed playoffs": - You have the benefit of a bird's eye view and replays - You don't spot every single penalty that happens in real time, nobody can. - Refs do blow calls sometimes, it happens in every sport and it isn't always a conspiracy. - It probably shouldn't have been a goal, but it's not like the Sharks have had exceptional luck with the officiating too. - Both teams had a similar amount of penalties--I guess part of the conspiracy is where the entire team on their PP opportunities decides to stop trying. Or vice versa with PK. Lastly, I'd absolutely love it if all these conspiracy theorists who are saying the NHL's management are clearly favouring certain sorts of team to make predictions for the next rounds. Clearly, if Bettman and the refs favour certain teams based on various factors, picking the teams that'll win with a solid % of accuracy should be easy.
