  1. Sometimes a coach stays too long and a team gets stale, the management felt this was the case and switched to another coach who has a ring. I don't really blame them, it's pretty much standard practice to lay off the coach if your team has been under achieving for a few years.
  2. I'm failing to see the comparison. Virtanen is a fairly stocky guy known for physical play to generate goals.. Oshie is a smaller guy with slick hands and a finesse game...
  3. I'd be very surprised. The Blues went from 21st overall in the NHL in 2010, to what they are now after Hitchcock was hired 2011. They're not exactly being "out coached" in the Chicago series really, many of the games have gone to OT. They're just playing the reigning champs who have imho the best offensive roster in the NHL. If he did get fired though, I'd want him in an instant. He's proven he can develop young talent and our prospects would benefit from a coach like that massively.
  4. Doubt Schneider is going anywhere, Brodeur was hinting at going to a different team next year.
  5. This beer commercial is killing me. Has there ever been a more pretentious display of BS?
  6. I hope CBJ wins too, but I doubt they'd get much farther past the Pens. Not every team in the playoffs has their star players ice cold and goalie choking, heh.
  7. I know the Pens have been a little "chokey" the last few playoffs, but even I've been surprised by this Columbus team. They're certainly proving their massive improvements last year were no accident.
  8. that was awesome hearing Don Cherry rip into the Matt Cooke thing, haha. One of the few coaches corners I've enjoyed before.
  9. Virtanen has some good highlights, but I noticed in a lot of them he's just bowling through the D, sometimes knocking them right on their asses, then driving the net. My concern is there's no way he's going to do that that easily against equally, and often bigger sized NHL d-men.
  10. Unless the returns are crazy good, it'd be a mistake letting go of Kesler. This team is way better with him on it. He plays in all situations for us, burns huge minutes and often plays against the other team's top players. Our whole team had a horrid year offensively and he missed 5 games but he still managed 25 goals. He'll be hitting 30+ goals again I'm fairly confident. If we could get a 20-30+ goal scoring winger for him that can make plays / create space via free agency, our second line will be solid next season. Let's not forget Santorelli will be back and Jensen / Kassian are ready to make bigger impacts. People forget for the first half of the season the Canucks were one of the better teams in the NHL. We just need to play a less injury prone style of game, add in additional secondary scoring, and maybe get a puck moving D-man (dish off Edler if possible?) and I think we contend again.
  11. The Habs cruised over a team using a mediocre backup goalie and no Marty St Louis. Something tells me the Habs won't have it so easy against Rask, Chara and Bergeron. I expect the Bruins to beat the Habs in 6.
  12. Not to mention all that defence and intangibles he did. BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD OMG *swoons* Columbus winning makes me smile
  13. Turning point was the dirty hit on Backes. The Hawks had the game in the bag until then.
  14. If spearing someone in the nuts isn't suspension worthy, I just don't know what is.
  15. Wow.... that looked really really bad :/ I really hope Daniel is OK
  16. Whoa I totally missed this news until now. It's great to see Trevor Linden back with the organization! I grew up watching him and have a lot of fond memories of what he did for the Canucks. I wish him success
  17. Meh, haven't been a huge fan of his especially after how he handled the Schneider/Luongo situation and then rode a rookie goaltender.
  18. Eh, not a huge fan of Garrison, but really, he's not really the biggest problem on this team. We have a defenceman on our team that's going to make $6mil / year soon and he's one of the bottom +- in the NHL.
  19. Hey does anyone know what happened to the post-game tonight? Didn't see it on Canucks.com and their youtube stream says technical difficulties.
  20. Just watched the highlights. Eddie Lack looked solid and confident, seemed to have a great game. And man, that Jensen wrist shot was one of the best wristers I've seen in a while. Sure it got tipped a bit, but man, the velocity on it was great. I really hope this guy can stay consistent and stay with us next year, looks like a 20 goal scorer right now.
  21. The guy is either a troll or a complete headcase. Or maybe just very young. At any rate, I think you're wasting your time addressing him/her. In any case, I'm starting to get pretty concerned that we have a rookie starter with 30 games experience and a backup, who's according to Torts "not game ready yet". That seems like a disaster waiting to happen considering the "support" he's getting from the rest of the team in front of him. Not sure what we'll do now :/
  22. So let me get this straight as to what's happened so far: 1. Our top players can't score and we get swept in the first round 2. AV, having been around for a long time, is replaced with Tortorella to add a spark to the team 3. The Canucks play well initially, but eventually start dropping like flies to injury. Skilled players on a finesse team are not used to blocking so many shots. 4. Team is totally spiraling out of control, so the GM trades away our veteran starting goaltender (?!) and expects our rookie backup with under 30 games NHL experience to be our starter (uhh...) 5. In return we get a 15 goal scoring 3rd liner and a backup with modest stats in his limited NHL experience. So, this team has been thoroughly managed into the ground. What now?
  23. They'll hit rock bottom in front of all the HNIC viewers, except from BC, who aren't watching anymore. 1st overall pick please
