  1. would like to see what a Hughes Tryamkin pairing would look like... Edler Schmidt Hughes Tryamkin Juolevi Myers
  2. I like Anderson a lot, but we have Boeser and Hoglander in the top 6 - something would have to give - and this market would have lost a nut if Benning signed Anderson to that deal.
  3. meh - there were about 4 mistakes on that shift - that wasn't on Virtanen.
  4. Lames with 1 shot. Defense is amazing. Team playing some tight unit hockey. Green's systems are so good lol
  5. Meh. LE still with the snowshower stop ups instead of finishing a check = need an engaged forecheck out of him. 0 hits - while Virtanen had a couple - and Virtanen had 4 shots, LE had 2 (as well as 13-8 on ice shot attempts vs Eriksson 15-12). A low bar of expectations for Eriksson though at this point - his +1 was an empty net assist to reconfirm that he's one of the best empty net specialists in the NHL. Personally LE would not have touched NHL ice this season if it were up to me. Even with injuries to Motte and Bailey - I'd go with MacEwen even if he's not a natural LW. But at the sam time I respect Green's decisions - he knows a hell of a lot more than I do.
  6. ? There's no need for 'excuses' for Hoglander. He's 2 pts off the rookie scoring lead. Pius Suter leads with 9 pts. Suter is 4 years older than Hoglander. His linemates have 22 pts (Kane) and 16 (DeBrincat). He's getting 59.8% ozone starts 48.6% corsi Hoglander's linemates have 12 pts (Horvat) and 8 pts (Pearson). 44.1% ozone starts 50.4% corsi. Leads the team in takeaways with 13. Kaprizov should probably be considered the scoring leader (goals is not the best tie-breaker) - but he, too is 3 yrs older than Hoglander (and is playing more minutes, getting 59.8% ozone starts, and 4:23/game on the powerplay....)
  7. Last night. Beagle 38.5% ozone starts 53.3% corsi Edler 29.4% ozone starts (team high 12dzone starts). 52.4% corsi
  8. You shouldn't be suggesting anyone elso do their research, while peddling this complete nonsense. He played 21:40 a game over five seasons in Winnipeg - on a right side that also had Byfuglien and Trouba - arguably as good as any in the NHL (perhaps St Louis' Cup blueline was comparable). A very good team. You evidently know nothing about his "career history". Averages 33 pts per 82 over his career, averaged 35 pts/82 in five years in Winnipeg, like most 'replacement' D lol - and a primary penalty killer (lead their team in penalty killing in seasons/a primary penalty killer there as well).
  9. A bit of flavour of the week going on here TR? The Leafs have failed to make it out of the first round four consecutive seasons. In every one of those, they were first month Stanley Cup contenders... If you believe the 'best' plan is to spend 40+ million on four forwards and then rely on replacement level contracts to fill out the depth - I'm not sure I get your concept of team building. Is the genius the idea that 40 yr olds will want to come home for 700k? If by 'toying' with the team, you're referring to winning up tilted ice, which is what happened in that 3rd game, I'd recommend not 'toying' with too many teams, because that's not a great formula for contending. As for the 'deeper roster' and deeper prospect pool in particular, that's certainly an interesting claim. But I'd have to ask you how many Leafs picks in the Spamaplan lottery champion era, made outside the top 10 have turned into roster players for them? Dermott. That's one. Aside from him, Sandin is 2nd, having played 29 NHL games. Not sure fluffing the Leafs prospect pool relative to this team's drafting is particularly a winning formula either. Not many teams win championships with the kind of team Dubas and Spamaplan have built. Not saying it's impossible - it's been done (very infrequently) - but after four straight first round exits - they are in 'show me' mode imo - still attempting to sell that build - based on a month of covid results - is awfully premature - and really giving them undue credit.
  10. sounds like a dumb/obtuse question to me. you posted a quote from Aquilini that Benning and Green would remain and continue to rething the team that was three years ago. And they're still here. And he repeated that last night. what is it you believe that quote evidences? I missed the statement that Linden would be remaining, before his departure.... The only relevence I can gather from your attempt to make a point - is that Linden is no longer here. I may have opinions regarding Linden and his departure, but they're not particularly relevent. He was given jurisdiction over hockey decisions - I suspect that may be been regeged upon - but I'm not a fly on the wall. What I do know is that wasn't public domain - whereas these repeated votes of confidence in Benning and Green, are.
  11. I don't want to be too hard on Dayal (or Roget) - for breaking the trend and refuting some garbage 'analytics' - but he's also hard to take seriously himself. I'm not sure - but I think either he (or one of his peers) was also responsible for the claim that Tanev 'dragged down' Hughes last season. But kudos to him here for dismissing that 'replacement level' garbage / pseudo metrics / hero-chartesque quality 'analytics'.
  12. One compressed covid first month - following not much camp/preseason - and a ton of youth in the lineup - who've been largely snakebitten thus far, when not shooting themselves in the foot. The fishbowl is never really the best take.
  13. Let's ban Carter Hart from his squirting his waterbottle in the air 'ritual'. And fine Holtby every time he does. Why not ban positive visualization altogether, while we're at it. These are nothing but people looking to follow in the tracks of their successes - whether 'rational' or not - is not really the point - or anyone else's jurisdiction, for that matter. But I'm sure the OP knows this. Er, I propose we micromanage the minutae of every player's consciousness! And the colour of their underwear. But good luck with your petition. I recommend taking it to the Leafs. You're probably a bit late though - it might have had a better chance of legs under LouLame, who pretends he has the right to dictate whether a player grows facial hair...
