(Rumour) Virtanen on the trade block
oldnews replied to Wayne Glensky's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The mark of a professional = "if rumours are to be believed".....'source'. gotta love canucksarmy. what rumours? were they cooked up in-house? or e5 rumours with no origin/source = that is for amateurs. post a source - that is expected even in a lowly place like this message board. that article is all over the place - 9 'best' places, about 50 names thrown in the soup - a lot of it complete non-starter material. there are a ton of whiffs - but a few good ideas in there. Just pick a handful that actually might make sense - and focus on them, instead of drawing a road map of the continent with stops at about 18 cities...(NHL and AHL). -
[Rumour] Predators interested in Adam Gaudette

hes a 6 million cap hit and expires next season - and Nashville would want a principal. -
that's not 'sheltered' though - not even close.

I'd pass on that deal - certainly would not add. Good bottom six veteran forwards - but I wouldn't take either of them one for one for either younger forward, ket alone both - and get older on both counts in the process. Might take Sissons in a deal (has a 6yr x 2.8 contract, mind you), but only if Trenin were the other player coming this way.

Anyone that is a workhorse like Edler has been is going to have gaffs - particularly when he's playing the principal shutdown role - with a rookie on many nights (that's a tall task for both Edler and Chatfield - but I think overall they've done well). Chatfield stepping into the league at 29.5% ozone starts on a shutdown pairing - is exceptionally challenging.
-
He's playing difficult - impressive - minutes thus far. 38.3% ozone starts is almost unheard of for a rookie defenseman. And in those minutes - he's +2, with 3.3 on ice goals for, 2.7 against per 60. .922 on ice save percentage. And killing 1:32 of penalties / game. Normally, he and Hoglander would have a market salivating over their future....but here....these young players are 'expected' at this point, after a handful of draft successes (EP, Hughes, Demko, Boeser) - which is ok, but playoff success is eclipsed by a few weeks of struggles in a covid grind schedule....expecting this team to contend at this stage is probably noob-think.

well - it was candida - but imo it has had very little to do with size, physicality, battle - those aren't concerns regarding Gaudette (I think he plays 'big' enough for his size) - for me it's about reading the play, getting to the right areas of the ice, having the instincts of a defensive center....24 is still young, but at the same time, players that play 3C or bottom 6 C roles - tend to have a 'foundation' to their game. I think Gaudette is either an ozone start, secondary scoring type center (which doesn't really fit with this team at this stage or the near future imo) or he's a winger conversion - and as a winger conversion, he has a tough path in Vancouver. I only trade him if there's a comparable talent and slightly different type of player - at a different position. He's an easy player to like - and the truth is that for long streches for this franchise he would have been their top prospect / best young player - but he's somewhat surrounded by a wealth of young forward talent. I think the focus of the forward group has to shift to succession plans at middle six LW and possibly 3C - Pearson expiring, Rousel is someone I'd look to move and replace with a young forward... really, with Motte, Virtanen, MacEwen, Bailey, Hawryluk, they have young 'bottom 6' wingers. -

"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me." -

And you can't blame the kids. -
