  1. yeah but the cap aspect is a non-factor in this deal - this is not a small market team, nor one that needs any cap space, so there's no leverage here to pay to dump cap. The Sens wanted the better (in terms of future possibility), younger assets in the deal and needed to give up a pick to get that. McKenna and Pyatt had no real trade value otherwise.
  2. My various impressions here: 1) regarding Nilsson - meh - a placeholder whose days were numbered here = no real significance when we're receiving a comparable (at least at present) backup placeholder in return. I wish him the best and think he needs to add some mental toughness = have seen this many times in sport - guys with all the tools and gifts but lacking the fundamental element of a killer instinct. 2) Archie = I think this is a classy move by the organization to send him somewhere he has a realistic window of opportunity to be an NHL player. When we have guys like Schaller who can't force their way into the lineup, Archie's fate is pretty much summed up in that. Wish him the best - seems like a great guy. 3) McKenna and Pyatt = meh - decent enough depth/placeholders. 4) The 6th round pick = the point of this deal and maybe more than anyone could/should expect out of Nilsson given his inconsistency and performance this season. Deal is a win imo because of this high 6th/borderline 5th round pick.
  3. Yep, @RobZepp can't be thrilled about this. And Hamilton - now that he's no longer beside Norris quality guys like Chara or Gio - appears to be getting exposed as the over-rated, overhyped player some of us thought he was.
  4. A world of scouts are about to disagree with you, big time, coming up to next year's draft. This is a largely rhetorical question, but feel free to answer it if you feel like it - how does an 'unskilled' 17 yr old lead a WHL team in scoring - not by a small margin btw but by 14 pts - 2nd best to his 41 pts is 27 (Davidson - a 20 yr old). And this is not a bad Blades team - they are 16-9 (I just watched them take down the Royals a couple nights ago). The thing about WHL games - the best players are not necessarily going to stand out to you every night. The games are up tempo - every young player has to develop their game without the puck, they don't give a lot of time and space...and yet, if you watch the Blades, it's borderline impossible to miss how exceptional Dach is. Anyhow by virtually everyone else's viewpoint, he's a great playmaker (takes skill btw - and 27 assists suggest an objective confirmation), he's a halfwall pp quarterback with very good vision and good hands. Imo his skating is under-rated, particularly for a 17 yr old with great size - 6'3' and 195lbs - and he has a pretty solid chance of going top 10 next June. The one thing I'd probably want him to improve is how consistently assertive he is with that size advantage - but he is 17 yrs old after all. Maybe it's the case that you don't particularly like the player? In any event, it looks like he might go in the range the Nucks will be picking....
  5. Not really. Ron Francis set that franchise up quite nicely - they're expecting to 'win now' - and by all indications of the owner, that was his first priority. Don't like the owner and don't like the dismissal of Francis - but not really that surprised that team is doing well - despite what I consider an odd move on their part to let go of both Hanifin and Lindholm (which is not a shot at Ferland, but he simply doesn't and won't have Lindholm's value moving forward - and additionally is an expiring contract / UFA next summer). I also won't be surprised if Dougie Hamilton is exposed as over-rated in Carolina.
  6. Ouch. Lindholm leading the Flames with 21 pts (20 games). Leads the Flames at 57.6% in the faceoff circle. 16 takeaways, 7 giveaways +9 Hanifin matching Dougie Ham's 7 pts, playing harder minutes....
  7. yeah, I like Roussel enough - he's serviceable, annoying to play against, solid enough - but if you can get value back for him at the same time as dumping a Gagner or MDZ for Zack, it would be tempting.
  8. I don't know. Maybe the worst time for this opportunity. Seems like our bottom six is finally solid - and deep. But I like Zack - and if it came down to Zack vs Roussel.....it'd be a tough one for me. Zack is tougher, Zack doesn't take as many stupid penalites, he's bigger, he can throw, and I'm not sure he gives up much if anything in terms of 'upside'..... I doubt the team will make this move - but I might lol. I love the idea of Gud, Zack, Schaller....don't want Gud to always have to be the guy that comes unhinged.
  9. wtf is Deadmonton thinking? Gagner would fit perfectly there!
  10. Pretty comparable numbers after a small 10 game sample with their new teams. Both these forwards lead their new teams in goal scoring. Ferland with 6 in 10 games - also leads the Hurricanes in hits with 28. Lindholm with 7 goals in 11 games - leads the Lames in faceoff wins and % at 57.7% They both also have pretty solid 'underlying' numbers - Ferland with 55.3% ozone starts and 58.3% corsi, Lindholm with 47.6% ozone starts and 50.9% corsi. Hamilton with 1 goal and 3 assists through 10 games probably not quite what Carolina was hoping/expecting - but still early. Hanifiin with a pair of assists - not bad considering he has the lowest ozone starts on the Lames. A bit surprising that he's playing slightly more minutes than Hamilton at this stage.
  11. Wrong. Buffalo clearly bit. Jason Botterill was evidently working to move up to the 5 spot and Benning very clearly stated that he was unwilling to move to 8 - that he knew the Rags would take Pettersson at 7 if they had the opportunity. Benning correctly assessed that Vegas wanted Glass - and that was the sole opportunity he was willing to entertain, but as is inevitable, Vegas sniffed out that the willingness to move to 6 meant a willingness to pass on Glass. Benning was nevertheless a step ahead on both counts - he knew who Vegas wanted, he knew the other threats around Petterssson, and he was willing to take only the safest of risks - of moving down one spot.
  12. I'm just curious. Does anyone still give a crap that Benning did not trade down with that 5th overall pick? He was pretty aware that the Rags were eyeballing his guy - and he was pretty aware that Vegas had earmarked/wanted Glass. Was willing to move one spot only. In the end, the extra (longshot) asset is nowhere near as vital as the fact that Pettersson is now a Canuck - and the rest is history.
  13. is it possible you've added a certain previous date/page to your favorites as a bookmark on your desktop?
  14. for some reason it's up to date when I cue it up...
  15. Positions Teams will not be permitted to ice their players out of position. Players listed as playing a position on one of the following sites that add to those Fantrax lists, may have those positions added: NHL, TSN, Sportsnet, Elite Prospects, HockeyDB, Yahoo Please send the relevant Commissioner Team a PM with a direct link for each players corresponding proof with "CDC Puck Player Positions" and your team name in the subject line. Which commish is handling the player position changes in fantrax? could whomever that is add C to Troy Terry? https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/234046/troy-terry seems like fantrax has a habit of dropping many of these guys options from one season to the next....
  16. hi commish team @Ilunga and I are wondering how you work fantrax when you have dual or AGMs? Could one of you set him up with access and his own password - or do teams simply share a common username and password - and if that's the case does it allow you both to be signed in simultaneously? thanks in advance.
  17. first few pages of this thread are prototypical CDC.
